    [Issue 10] Important

Hi guys, I've had to write this at really short notice, so please excuse the lack of pictures etc. Basically, there is some important news that can't really go in the Devs news section, as it's Bruce who's told me, and the Devs don't really want us to know this yet so it is in the newspaper. (I know, real news in the newspaper!) What I've been told is this: Obviously, this is not good news, so the Devs were only going to tell us one or two days before it happened. From now on we will all have to use the Russian servers and forum. Bruce is looking into the possiblilty of having an English section within the Russian forum. All English Mods and Consultants will be transferred to the Russian side of the game, but due to the way the Russian news works, reporters won't be transfering, so this unfortunatly is our last issue. Really sorry you guys who just applied! So I hope you have enjoyed reading the Newspaper over the last 10 issues, I know the reporters have enjoyed writing for you. Signing out, Lham, on behalf of the English Reporters Note: This was an April Fool

[Issue 10] Beauty in Tanki - Lham's view

Having written about one of the best aspects of Tanki being the variation in equipment here, and the fact that Hogree doesn't know what he's talking about when it comes to looks, I decided to write my own article on Beauty in Tanki, explaining what I think the best looking tank is. I actually base my opinions on the pre 1.100 update graphics as well as the current graphics. Firstly, the weapons: 3. Railgun Now Railgun might seem a strange choice, it doesn't really have anything special about it, it's just a square box with a long barrel sticking out of it, but it's on my list for one simple reason: It looks good with every hull. There isn't any hull that looks bad with it. 2. Firebird Ok, maybe Hog does know a thing or two, I do like the look of Firebird. The way that the base is the widest part, and the top slopes down to the front and the sides curve in to the barrel mean this is one good looking weapon. 1. Freeze To be honest, I think that the old graphics freeze looked better than the one now, and that is what has helped Freeze get top spot. I loved the look of the old Freeze, with the 2 elegant silver stripes coming over the top and then the blue lights on the side. But, I do like the new freeze too, it looks elegant, its not very wide, and the lines coming in from the top and the side continue along the barrel. And the way it flares at the end just sets it off nicely. This is the most beautiful weapon. Next up, the hulls: 3. Dictator Again, I seem to be agreeing with Hog. I like the look of Dictator, the way the tracks stick out at the front remind me of a lion or a bear lying down with its paws out at the front. The triangular base for the weapon to sit on also looks good. The lights at the front look good as well, looking like it's eyes. 2. Hunter Seriously, who idea was this, the same tank is again in both of our lists! Again, I love the flat bits at the sides which look like paws. However, this is a much smaller tank, so I guess its the daughter! (All machines are female). The clear, horizontal lines that run along the top and then slope at the front give it a great shape! 1. Hornet Hornet looks great, its a compact tank with out anything sticking out. The curved shape looks great and position of the turret means that it will stick out a little over the front but not too far. The way the metal lines curve inwards from the back mean the tank looks sleek even when you are driving it and seeing the back. This means Hornet is my favourite tank for looks, no weapon looks bad on it! And finally, the paints, nothing here is on both our lists! I had a tough time deciding paint, and both Electra and Emerald came close to being in this list, Emerald looks classy, and Electra, when on the right tank looks awesome, black with a streak of red lightning! 3. Zeus I love Zeus, the dark blue is a great shade and looks stunning and then there are bolts of while lightning all over meaning that this is a seriously good looking paint. 2. Spark Spark is similar to Zeus, as it is a blue based paint, but it has many shades of blue and even purple. The reason Sparks looks better than Zeus is the way the light blue swirls around and has lines of white. The light blue then fades into dark blue and splashes of purple. This was my first paint I bought when the old graphics were around and I think it looked even better then! 1. Irbis The best looking paint in my opinion. White looks great on any tank, it means it really stands out and allows all the curves and slopes to be seen. The white Irbis looks softer and shinier than the plain white and and this means the black dots tat are added just makes it look better. The dots are not completely black too, meaning they aren't completely contratedagainst white and give it a more mellow and soft look. On Hornet and with Freeze it just looks incredible. So there we have it, my opinion on the most beautiful tank in Tanki. Do think I have the right idea, or do you agree with Hogree?

[Issue 10] [Best of Tanki] Variation in Equipment

This is another article in the series all the reporters are doing on their favourite aspects of Tanki, although I do have to admit this isn't my favourite thing about it, my favourite things have been written about by my fellow reporters. So, variation in weapons. We have 9 weapons and 7 hulls to choose from, not to mention a large selection of paints, varying in appearance and protection offered against different weapons. Weapons The variety in weapons we have is really nice, we don't just have a single type of weapon, the basic point and shoot and the guns are different by the reload times and damage done per shot. Instead, we have lots of types of weapons; short range weapons damaging anything in a certain area, close range weapons that target one tank, guns that fire lots of small damaging bullets, lasers, snipers and the weapons most like ones in real life, the point and shoot. This leads being able to have all sorts of tactics with different combos of these types of weapons! Then we have the special features of each weapon, which makes it unique. It changes the gameplay, it means its not just damaging in different ways, you can be frozen, burnt, damaged without seeing the attacker, or damaged with a tank between you and the attacker. This features also mean some guns are better than others at different roles, such at Freeze is much better at defending in the base than a Thunder, not only due to the range and type of weapon, but the fact Freeze slows down enemy tanks, whereas with Thunder would just damage yourself. People can also develop different playing styles with the differences in weapons, some can camp, perhaps sniping with Shaft, or covering the middle of the map with Thunder. Some weapons, such as Twins can lend themselves to many different roles, even ones that at opposites, attacking and defending. So we have a large choice when it comes to arguably the most important aspect of our tank, the weapon. Hulls The hulls are slightly different to the weapons in that they don't have any special abilities, and are different mainly in 2 variables, speed and heath. In general, the fast tanks have less health, and the slow tanks have more health. The exception to this is Viking and Dictator, with Dictator having more of both, however, M3 Dictator is unlocked 5 ranks higher and it is more expensive. It can also be argued that it's shape is worse, the gun sits higher up and it is larger. The centre of gravity is also higher, meaning that it is easier to flip over. In general, the slower, stronger tanks are also bigger in physical size and weight, and the fast tanks are small and light. This means the strong tanks are hard to flip, whereas the fast tanks can sometimes flip just by going round a corner. The gun positions on the tanks can also be different, being at the front, back or in the middle. Usually this doesn't make much of a difference in the gameplay, but if you are concerned with the appearance of your tank this can be something to consider. Paints There is a large choice of paints for all prices ranges, from free to over 270,000 crystals. The main point of paints are protection and looks. For some, its all about the protection, some the looks ,and I think for most people a combination of the two. They are a great way to show off your tank and wealth. Most of the paints also have protection from different weapons, and there are so many combos of protection you can pretty much have what you want. As there are so many combos of protection, there is usually 2 to 4 paints with similar protections, but at different prices and unlocked at different ranks so that the whole spectrum of players can have that combo. For looks, a lot of the paints are camouflage style, with different colours or camouflage, black, white, blue, red, lots of shades of green, brown, , purple, beige, grey, it's a long list! There are plain colours without any protection, and many other styles, including animal skins. The choice is massive! ~Lham~

    [Issue 10] Gold Box Pic

We had many entries for this contest, and the judges had some lengthy discussion to decide the winner. But, the judges decided not to award any prize for Category 2 due to the lack of quality entries, and that we would extent the contest into this issue for Category 2 only. The contest for this can be found here. However, I can announce that: Winning Category 1 and 3500 crystals is: desrtroytank With this picture: Congrats and thanks to all who entered!

  22. You need to select the 'Soft Particles' option http://tnkscr.net/s80SmY.jpg Update is decent, the dust kinda puffs out rather than being constant, which I'd prefer, but good job.
