I'm going to miss Moon Silence, but if it takes it to get rid of fly hackers, I think that's a pretty fair trade. Thanks Tanki devs, as well as thanks for the rememberance paint. One question for clarification, it autoregisters saying you caught a gold right? No pic or proof is required or needed?

Story [Issue 16] Explaining Tanki Events - Sabotage!
SpreadLoveNotHate replied to SpreadLoveNotHate in [Issue 16] Explaining Tanki Events - Sabotage! Newspaper Archive
In Tanki, many events occur daily in which are inexplicable. Sabotage, unlike those, has a story in which was passed down from tank generation to tank generation. It explains why it is against the TRAR (Tanki Rules and Regulations). The following is a story that, although changed in many ways after the many generations, still has a similar idea to what happened back when tanks first existed. There was once a tanker named Dan. With a family of 5 at home to support, he joined the tank squadron in Gubakha at the beginning of a war that was soon to escalate into a World War. Joining the army meant more salary per year since you're putting your life on the line for your country in harsh conditions and serving your country. At the age of 32, he was promoted to First Lieutenant and was in charge of leading the 33rd squadron into an unknown city take over by the enemy a couple years ago at the start of the war. He led a pack of 12 of the most fierce wolves, as the team was called. Wolves, Dan had been with the other squadron mates for the past 3 years and together, they built the definitions of cooperation, teamwork, and the powerful reputation of the Russian army. The war is nearing the end, and, in hindsight, this was the last major battle of the World War. During this battle though, Dan had experienced something that no one else has before, in which this event changed the Rules. During the attack of the city, with the 'wolves' attacking close to the side of the city, where a cliff resided, Dan had to lead his team up the steep hill alongside the cliff while they had the only tank that was available at the time, the Wasp. Back then, it had little armor to keep the tanker inside safe, even though not many weapons were made and as technologically advanced as they are today. About 9 of our squadron made it three-quarters of the way up, since the enemies had the upper advantage. By taking turns, we were able to get through most of the enemy lines at the top of the city with ease. They were under-equipped and their casualties were greater than ours. With only one enemy tank in sight, we raced to attempt to get last kill of the battle. Dan, during the process, was pushed off the cliff, and fell an estimated 2 miles into the abyss between the cliffs. We heard the thump when the remains of his tank hit the bottom of the abyss. The squadron members deemed it was an accident, one that was fatal and took away the life of a father who had to care for his family. I left the battle a victor but guilt made me feel like a loser instead. Worse, I started having nightmares. I had flashbacks of his face, what I imagined his family to look like with their loss and everything that happened. Not only was it painful, it was excruciating and it haunted me every single night. I couldn't break free from it. 30 days and 30 nights passed, I was still haunted by the very memories that have been with me for the last month. I couldn't take it anymore. Guilt took over, and I turned myself in and told the truth. I was sentenced to a count of murder after a couple squadron members pointed me out in court. It was for the better, even though I had to spend the rest of my life in prison. I felt my guilt was suddenly minimized for a second. I tried to forget, but it wasn't working. 40 years had passed, and still, I dream nightly about it. Then, I gave up. I knew it wasn't going to dissapear. I made a mistake, and this is what I have to suffer to learn from my mistake. From prison, I heard that later, rules for murdering a fellow tanker changed to only an ongoing suspension to their tank license, but I didn't regret my decision to turn myself in at all. It was a heartstopping moment, one that I had never forgotten for the past 40 years. Even worse, I was the one that killed him back then. I pushed him off over the excitement of getting the last kill. At the moment, all I could think of was fame and recognition after the battle. Fame and recognition was what I got worldwide, but it wasn't positive like I imagined and wished it would be from the very beginning. His entire family is living on the little that they get from the government as a compensation. They live in a 60 year old wooden house that leaks every time it rained, snowed, or hailed. I regret it sitting in this prison and still will as long as I live. As for the family? They visited my every month, telling me about how they are going. Dan was nice to me, actually everyone in the squadron, and even though his family suffered from a loss caused by me, they were supportive for me to survive lonely days and nights in prison. And that is where Sabotage and it's place in the rule book comes from. Don't learn it the hard way, just be careful and play fair, even if you are in a rush, or have a grudge on someone else. Currently, Sabotage in Tanki can result in at least a week ban and can extend to a block if it is repeated. To report Sabotage, take a series of screenshots, or a video (which is definitely more solid proof) and place it in Violators on the forum. Sabotage can be anything as in multing, pushing people off cliffs, or basically any action in which can affect your team's progress in the game. Do apologize in chat so others would know that if you did do such an action, it wasn't on purpose. This way, you won't have to fight enemies on your team in addition to the opposing team. -
Guide [Issue 16] Deadly Anticipation
SpreadLoveNotHate replied to SpreadLoveNotHate in [Issue 16] Deadly Anticipation Newspaper Archive
Deadly Anticipation Anticipation is a great skill to build, practice, and use while battling, as it can help you eliminate your enemy THAT much faster. (For the time of reading this sentence, you could have just gotten 2 kills without supplies) Defining Anticipation - In the context of Tanki, predicting your enemy's moves so that you can act before they do, allowing you to succeed in smaller duels or mini duels in larger battles. Another way to look at it is, for example, take the musical definition of anticipation (cause I love music), it is a non chord note that is part of the next chord. Therefore, you would know what the next chord would sound like, or predict it, by just hearing part of the chord anticipated. It is so that you know what your enemy is going to do before they do it so you can successfully take them out without acquiring much damage in the process. There are many great ways to anticipate moves in Tanki, here's a great list of actions one would do normally, and ways to counter them: 1) Enemy moves back in a close range duel, where one of you have a close range gun. Probable technique they are using: Mining so you would step on the mine How to counter: Instead of moving towards him, move back, and find another way to approach him. If not, then just wait till he backs out so you can be sure if there is or is not a mine. 2) Enemy slightly moves forward in a slope situation. Probable technique they are using: Trying to get you to shoot, so when you have to reload, they will be able to attack without having anyone to stop them How to counter: Make sure you see most of their tank first before actually firing your weapon if it has a slow reload. This way, it will ensure that you won't be killed during reload and maximize your kills to death ratio. 3) Loads of tanks piling up on the side ramp of Silence/other slopes in maps Probable technique they are using: Attacking in numbers, so they can bombard defence and take it out effectively. How to counter: Outsmart them. If they're going to pile up on one side, attack from the other and grab their flag. If their base is still heavily protected, go behind them and use a Freeze, Firebird, or Thunder to kill all of them without them noticing. This way, you will be defending your base and getting loads of experience at the same time. 4) A shaft is scoping and is ready to unleash a shot, at full power and is defending the flag Probable technique they are using: Shafting How to counter: Fake it, or get someone else to take the shot, and while it reloads, then take your shot and aim at their side. This way, it will either mess up their aim or give damage while he is reloading. 5) 3 enemies are coming at you with flag in an enemy base Probable technique they are using: Attacking from all directions and in numbers, to protect flag How to counter: Try to get out in a way that you can kill less tanks to clear. That is usually easiest, and when you have flag, the main purpose is just to capture it. If there's a Mammoth on one side and a Hornet on another, choose to target the Hornet. Always target the smaller or easier to kill tank so you can make a quicker getaway. If they do get to you, try to stall for backup. Use whatever you can to keep yourself alive, including techniques like shooting walls instead of direct shooting, using supplies, or just taking cover behind a wall. When a backup gets the flag, then just self destruct so you can help the backup person with full health when he gets closer to the base. 6) A Freeze is seen when you have a flag, and he is just across from a tower, building, or object How to counter: Try to find an alternate way out. If not, try to stall for backup so they can kill the Freeze without you having to be slowed down by the Freeze effect. If you have a long range weapon, impatience will take him over and hopefully, you will have a chance to take him out. If you have a shorter ranged weapon, try using a mine to lower his health before you actually get into close combat. This way, it will minimize the level of freezing that it does to your tank. If someone if chasing you, then the only way is to just try to kill him as soon as you can. Those are just a few ways to anticipate your opponents. Remember, enemies will always go for: - Easy to kill opponents - Flag - Kill stealing - Supplies - Crystals and Golds The most basic thing to do is to stay away from being categorized as one of these. When carrying a flag, try to be closer to teammates so they can shield you from any damage, and try not to go a way where the enemy can easily pick up supplies to use against you. On your way, take any supplies you see so you minimize the chance of them getting their hands onto one and using it to their advantage. Good luck in battle! -

Story [Issue 16] Part 4: Conclusion
SpreadLoveNotHate replied to SpreadLoveNotHate in [Issue 16] Part 4: Conclusion Newspaper Archive
Part 4: Conclusion If you expected one of my stories, this is not what you're looking for. It's newer, better, and more aojsd! The finale to Goldrock's 4 part Story Series, written by @aojsd First, Second, and Third parts by Goldrock. Generalissimo Fyodor was in many ways, the perfect tankman, he was smart, skilled, determined, and wise. When he was but a mere recruit, he was constantly insulted, put down, and bullied by tankmen of higher ranks. This did not deter him, however, from achieving his greatest dream, to become Generalissimo of the army. He was an example for all, his skill impeccable. But deep down inside of him, he knew he had a weakness, one that would inevitably lead to his downfall. His honor. Generalissimo Fyodor was too honorable, he could never forgive himself for the deaths of soldiers that he could’ve saved, and when he and his remaining soldiers entered the center of sector 23 seeing Lyonid caught between two Mammoths, he knew that he could never live with himself if this soldier died when he could’ve tried to stop it. Center, Sector 23, At the arrival of Fyodor and his remaining troops. “Surrender now,” Fyodor yelled, “You are out numbered!” The enemy leader laughed, “Ah, but you wield Thunders, and cannot attack us without killing your own soldier. I know you are noble Fyodor, you would never attempt it.” “Don’t li-“Lyonid exclaimed before he was stopped when he was rammed in the side, disabling his radio. “Attack and he dies,” The leader threatened, “Unless you surrender.” Fyodor found himself in a moral dilemma, whether to shoot, end the war and retire peacefully, or surrender to save Lyonid while most likely dying. He knew that Lyonid was telling him to shoot, but he also knew that he live peacefully after the deaths he had witnessed. He took a deep breath, said the two words that could seal his fate. “I surrender.” The enemy leader had a smug smile on his face as the Lyonid was released and Fyodor allowed himself to be restrained. Then, the two words he had expected all along arrived. “Kill him.” Lyonid watched horrified as the guards shot at Fyodor, hearing loud bangs followed by three explosions, and a loud battle cry coming from the remaining troops before falling unconscious. Repair Hospital, Magistral, After the assault on Sector 23 Lyonid awoke in a hospital in Magistral seeing the Fyodor’s commander standing beside him. At first he was confused, but when he remembered what had happened a wave of grief smashed into him. “Generalissimo Fyodor, is he-“ “No.” Said the commander. The grief inside Lyonid multiplied. If tanks could cry, he’d be bawling his eyes out. “What happened?” Lyonid asked. Apparently Fyodor had predicted he would die, so right before the enemies shot him, he shot, doing damage while self-destructing, causing the guards to shoot his destroyed tank and self-destruct as well. Fyodor’s troops then killed the rest of the enemies quickly, before returning to Magistral. The commander had come to notify Lyonid that he had been promoted to Marshal. Their newest job would be revealed later, but for now, everyone was mourning over Fyodor’s death in the costliest war in tank history. ~ aojsd aojsd is one of the new Candidate Reporters joining us! Guide [Issue 16] The Extensive Guide to Supplies
SpreadLoveNotHate replied to SpreadLoveNotHate in [Issue 16] The Extensive Guide to Supplies Newspaper Archive
Supplies, most of us enjoy using them when we have a great abundance of them. Proof that you do? Your 2, 3, 4 keys on your keyboard are significantly easier to press than others! How many of you though actually thought that some kind of skill would be needed for drugs? Well, you don't actually need skill for using drugs, but with skill, you can rank, get gold boxes, go flying sky high (without the help of outside software) or even rank a lot faster! After 2 weeks of drugging and extensive experimenting, here's a complete guide to supplies, for everyone whether you're a beginner or a pro! There are five in game supplies or as known as consumables in Tanki, they are: 1) First aid 2) Double armor 3) Double power 4) Nitro 5) Mine The term consumable refers to these since they are the only ingame item, other than crystals, that decreases as you go along your Tanki career if you don't pay for more. Here's a breakdown of what you can do with them: 1) First aid First aids heal your tank according to the amount of health your particular tank has at the modification. It occurs gradually for about 5 seconds after initiation by pressing 1. The amount of time depends on how close your tank is to full health. It is mainly useful for trying to stay alive when there's a falling gold box, a flag to be captured, another supplies user (drugger will be the term used), or to maintain a certain kill death ratio. Timing is a huge problem with using first aids, since a lot of people activate it too soon, or too late. Before you press it, notice how much health you have left, and gauge how quickly you would lose health. For example, if you have about 3/4 of a Mammoth M0 health left, and not losing health quickly, then maybe you should hold off using a first aid, and wait until you lose a little more so you won't waste it, or use it and not be able to use it again, as there is a time inbetween usage of supplies and a new set of supplies. If you have a hornet of any modification and 2 freezes freezing you, it's probably a good idea to use it before your health gets to 0. 2) Double Armor Double armor, as the name describes, doubles your armor on your hull. For example, if it's an M2 Viking, you would take normal Viking health and multiply it by two to get your health with DA on, though calculations change when your tank is not at full health. Viking × 2 Armor = New Health 220 × 2 = 440 hp It is often used to be protected from dying at a quick rate, similar to the first aid. As well, use it when you want to get close to an enemy to either retrieve flag, take flag, or other items like crystals. 3) Double Power Double power, also well described by the name, unsurprisingly doubles the power of your turret during the particular time that it is enabled. The same method of calculation is used from Double Armor. To use it effectively in battle, use a gun that is suitable to the size of the map. In a Polygon, use a small to medium range gun that can, through quicker reload, destroy more tanks earning more experience points. Also, use it when other enemies are using supplies against your team or you. This will kill off their tanks, or at least give more damage, in a lesser amount of time than without the Double Power. 4) Nitro Nitro, as known as N2O or Nitrous oxide (for the science geeks out there), is a supply that enhances the speed of your hull. The percentage of enhancement, before the physics update, is around 30%. Nitro gives you the additional speed needed to get out of dangerous situations, move quicker to grab crystals, golds, or flags, or just to race along the track of a map if you have spare time. Predicted with the new physics update, they will allow tanks to drift, and perform more like cars would. Furthermore, parkour in Tanki often incorporates the use of Nitro to do stunts like never before. Usually, Nitro is used along with Double Armor to get what you need to, ensuring you get your items in battle without having to be killed or stopped in the process. 5) Mines Mines are the only supply that you won't be able to pick up during a battle when No Supplies Bonuses is not activity. They are super effective on lowering your enemy's health drastically when they run over it, and hopefully give you an advantage. Use it when someone is following you, or just mine up a camping spot to ensure that they won't camp and kill in the same spot all the time. Avoid using them when you're low on health, as the mines vaporize into the air after you die. Drugging Ethics Currently in the forum, a lot of people are discussing ethics, and what is write to do and what is wrong. Here's a few! This is purely opinion based and can change from person to person. Drugging when there are no others drugging - Sometimes, a tanker will ask you to stop. It has happened to me before. Of course, if you're joining a supplies battle, which is about 95-99% of a server, you're expected to encounter one or two druggers. Though drugging is allowed, it gives you an advantage over other tankers who just want to have a fair battle. It isn't wrong to drug, it's just that it makes you seem like you're deliberately overpowering them. Typically, one wouldn't care and would continue their drugging, but that would result in a great amount of players leaving. So depending on the situation, assess it and say, if I don't drug, will I still be able to get kills, and just play fairly at the same time? If the answer is yes, then making one more friend is better than making another enemy in the game. Not drugging when the rest of your team are, in a stressed situation of a game - Well, bottom line, you're not obliged to drug. You do risk being kicked though, if most of your team is above you and team kicks also add to your karma. If they ask you to go out, it might be a good idea to follow that, if you don't want a team kick written to your karma. If you're a large rank, you should probably avoid asking them to leave, since you wouldn't want to harm their self esteem as a tanker. If you do need them to leave, ask nicely, and give a reason, so they don't feel you're discriminating against their rank. Mining up spawn areas and spawn killing - If you're on the winning team, mining up spawn areas and spawn killing should be something that is necessary to get flags or kills to finish the game. Overdoing it, however, will only make players of the opposite team leave, making you receive less experience points as you capture a flag or less points as there are less players to kill. If you're in a high rank battle and the tables could be turned, then it is suggested that you do this. In the end, supplies are a luxury that not all tanks have. Wasting them should not be an option however rich you are, so learn how to use them to maximize what you can do with your time! -
Happy birthday MizARee!
