[Issue 14] Blue Lights Over the Night Sky

The Sequel to "A Bright Beginning" "Sir! I'm stuck in a paradox and I keep dying and reviving back to the same spot!" I yell at my commander without the smallest hint of disrespect. "Why are you not in the battlefield? We need back-up there and you're here babbling about some ridiculous dream of yours? Do remember that all the money you need to support your family is coming from us, and the last thing we need is for you to be dreaming about your afterlife. Now, get out there 'cause we got people dying!" Having nothing better to say, I walk off back to my desk to retrieve my keys to pop the lid of my tank. I've never actually taken time to see the beauty of the new weapon now on my tank. I walk up to the front to take a closer look. It is beautiful, probably not to any bystander you'd find on the streets, but to a tank driver that has seen more weapons than people. The rail is engineered and made to perfection. Every hole in the barrel is carved out to satisfy exact measurements, and the whole interior and exterior are well polished. It is practically the gun of the century, but revealed at an early stage when no one knew what it was. Getting over my crush over a tank weapon, I open the garage door and drive the tank out of the garage. I know I'm not dreaming. Everything was so real... I start to devise a plan. My temporary one was just to avoid death, and it is not one I would like to stick with. With the Hornets we're given for this mission, a smoky critical could easily turn the plan into one of my nightmares. I want this to end, I'm only here for a month, I want to get back to my family. I look at the picture, and attempt to focus on finding one before driving onto the battlefield. I thought of the process of my previous 'near death experiences'. The only thing I can think of is that button of light. I need to find out what that was. I plan to get to the light, and find out what it can lead me to, since it is the only thing common before all my flashbacks. I look at the map and on the east side of it, there is a treeline. Not a line of trees, but a forest cut up to until that little section was raised, in which was unaffected by the development projects. I need to get my tank smuggled through there, all of the ricocheting bullets flying around would be too dangerous to be walking on the field. Even in the forest. Now, I have two enemies. The opposing forces, and my team's forces, who have no idea who I am or what I am doing in the forest. I drive around the side, while my friends are focused on another part of the field. Bullets are landing beside and flying over my tank. Some bullets hit the side of my tank and one makes a loud boom, but luckily it was not a direct hit, and they ricochet off the trees or go through them, so less damage occurs. I reach the other side, and I get behind the enemy lines after taking out two enemy tanks that were guarding the entrance into the area. Driving my tank around, I try to relocate the object that was glowing when I was apparently 'resurrecting'. Finally, I find it inside a large building made of glass. Carelessly, I drive my tank right in to try and take a closer look. The glass building crumbles and falls. The loud falling sound of glass alerts a couple enemy tanks, and they come at me. Here I am, stuck in the middle of the round beside a fallen building. I'm surrounded by enemy tanks in no more than a couple of seconds, and I am destroyed. Clicks and a brighter light from the middle of the rubble, I return to where I started, with the group of my fellow tankmates. I dreaded this, now I have to start all over again. This time, I have a plan and experience. I recall that the glowing object was a crystal. It controlled my destiny. But why just me? The string of questions throughout this whole blurry event floods my brain as I cannot hear the sounds of the battlefield anymore. Night, it was the only way I could get past without anyone seeing me. This is the safest thing to do, and it is what I will do, talking to myself. Evening came, and soon, the sky was all dark. I hide a couple of miles away from the battlefield and from my friends, where I will be safe and unnoticed. Cowardly, yes, but I survived long enough. Now, it is the chance I've been waiting for all day, it almost feels like weeks. Finally, the sun has moved away from our position, and all I see are glowing streaks of light made by the rails and the glowing full moon with a sky full of stars. The stars are just a wonder...the sky is so brightly lit by so many little lightbulb-like objects shining down. I feel inspired by something, by stars. Once again, they remind me of my family, and how they're just looking down over me, protecting me, and helping me get over obstacles like these. Suddenly, I snap out of my daydream, or night dream as of the current setting, by a shell that barely misses me and lands in the middle of the tree trunk at the edge of the forest. Back in on my own mission, I drive into the city, only to find myself facing lots of enemy tanks already swarming to my position like ants and my tank as bait. In an instant, the enemy tanks are taken out by rails and my road is clear. I turn my turret back, and I find that my team is supporting me; getting into the city is our objective too. I smile inside my tank for a split second, and even though no one could see it, it was a smile of thankfulness. We continue to push in, and along the way, we kill over 50 tanks that come at our small group. I recall all of the surroundings of when I first went into this unknown territory in my last failed run. One turn later, I find the dimly glowing crystal. It isn't as bright as before. I get out of my tank while my friends surround it and help guard the intersection to the building. Walking into the lobby, the crystal is there, in the ground. It is planted in the ground, and it wasn't coming out. Enemies are closing in, and we're running out of time. Something has to work, or all this is going to be useless. And then, what I realize is that the solution is lying right behind me. It has to be it. I am destined to do this, and we as a team can get this done. Now, it's just a matter of time...

    [Issue 14] Ban Psychology

Often in chat, we see many that are doing the same offense repeatedly. It seems as if they are not learning from the bans, and care more about their objective than their karma. As active members of the community, we notice that those who do get banned have a personal reason behind them, and here’s an explanation of those offenses! Spam of Battle Link _____________________________ Offenders of this rule are usually those who: 1. Want people to join the battle to make it more populated 2. Want to join the team that has more people, or usually the winning team 3. Want people to join his own made battle while no one else would Ways to get the message through without being banned: 1. Notice the number of links before a moderator bans. They would usually be more lenient against 2 links and letting it go, than more. Flood _____________________________ This rule is probably one of the most commonly broken ones alongside Spam of Battle Link. Here’s the reasons behind it: 1. Wanting to get attention 2. Lonely 3. Bored Just be sure to avoid posting identical or similar posts more than twice in your chat window. Remember, your screen size is not always the same as a moderator's. If yours is smaller, you should wait a couple more lines before posting the same thing, to prevent any confusion of why you're banned after. Scam _____________________________ These people are usually hacked. The hackers use these accounts to post scam links. To avoid being mistakenly banned, don’t post any links, whether or not it’s safe. You may be mistaken for one of the many scammers, so the best way to avoid it is not to post any links at all other than Tanki links, and sometimes screenshot ones. Trading, Borrowing, Sharing, and Asking of Accounts _____________________________ Reasons this rule would be broken: 1. Offender has a low level account and wishes for a better account 2. Offender needs accounts to post scam links, to advertise a scam site 3. Offender wants more accounts to power level To avoid being banned, don't ask for accounts. Keep your own account, and if you are a low rank, we were all once there. Work hard and build it instead of adding to its ban log. Caps _____________________________ This is rarely seen to be a ban, since we won't normally use all caps for a sentence. But, lower ranks would either not know it's on, or that it's forbidden in the game. They use it to get attention or just by mistake. Just be sure your caps lock is not on by typing one or two letters before putting it in chat. Trolling _____________________________ Although not as rare as some, it is not a common ban. Trolling is the act of using certain remarks to an innocent person to provoke certain emotions, such as anger. Many who claim to be bored, and want to create anger inside of someone to see their reactions would break this rule. Ignore them, don't drop to their level or have an argument. Remember, it's just a game, and blocking these people using /block would remove most of your problems instantly. Necroposting _____________________________ This ban is mostly only seen on the forum. It indicates that a player has posted in an old and outdated or resolved thread that hasn't been active for quite a while. Those that would break this rule have the following intentions: 1. Wanting to let the thread be popular again 2. Did not recognize the date, 'it was an accident' is a popular reason (or excuse) Avoid this by not posting after you've found a topic using the search button. Usually those that aren't seen in the sections are hidden deep below the piles of topics, and the search button could easily lead you to those outdated ones. Impersonating a Moderator or Administrator _____________________________ This last commonly broken rule is one easier to know why people would choose to break this one out of all else. Moderators and administrators have powers that many players would like to have and abuse. Those powers sometimes force players to be afraid of the moderators or administrators leading them to think, if I could tell people I am one of Tanki's staff, you would be respected, and treated as a special person. To avoid breaking this rule, just don't claim to be one of Tanki's staff. Hopefully, this ban breakdown will be your guide for understanding what bans are and how to avoid them! Remember, there are a lot more advantages to having a good reputation than disadvantages. Don't choose to get banned because you're bored.

[Issue 14] The Lucky 7 Experience

After a great round of Lucky 7, the victors are Clan ‘Shield of Fire’. Congratulations! Many clans were able to either renew themselves or some started a clan just for this competition. Here, three clan leaders who participated in the tournament was interviewed. Let’s take a look at what each of them had to offer. -------------------------------------------------- Slifer Clan 'The Sheild of Fire' What are you thoughts on this new tournament? Are you also liking the prize of this tournament? The paint looks amazing and the protection seems quite reasonable. I think the tournament started off very well, with some unreasonable rules. The paint is beautiful but I think 15% is relatively bad, all the Russians paint protect minimum 20% or 30% so 15 for me is not enough. It looks amazing, yes. :) Was your clan created just for this tournament? Yes we created it on the last day. We are a group, we always play together and for this tournament, we've decided to create the clan. What do you think put your clan above the rest to win this tournament? What advice can you give to a new clan wanting to do well in Lucky 7? To other clans, all I can say is that they should just play together, do some takeovers and learn how your partners play and with what combos (gun/hull) he's comfortable with. Strategy for this tournament is not necessary, you have just to know how your partners play. If you could make any changes to this tournament, what would you change? I'd like to change some members, so a change in the list would be preferable. We have 2 or 3 inactive players and many others who don’t have a good garage. We've played this tournament without knowing what all the members have in their garage. Any last remarks you would like to make? All the clan leaders want change one rule, its "if two clans or more have 6 victories, the clan who will post the pic for first will win". We won the first edition of the tournament for this rule, but it's so unfair. We'd like to have a play-off, and the best clan will win. :) Thanks for your time Slifer and I wish you all the best in the next round! -------------------------------------------------- toyota1735 Clan 'Reaper Crew' Your clan has done remarkable well in this Lucky 7 round winning all of the matches, what has prepared you and your clan for this kind of tournament? I think the key to success is to be able to listen to each other and train, we all in RC are 16 or 17 years old in top 6 and guys listen to my orders and sometimes I must shout at them, but it helps, and we have training every day. What do you think would be one of the biggest challenges a clan would have to overcome to do well in this tournament? I think this season is gonna be more harder than previously one - stronger clans will face Reaper Crew. That's one of the biggest challenges because we have never beaten TTM, DD or GCC in official wars... If we beat some of those three clans then we can dream about the paint. What preparations are you likely take to move up the spot and become first place in the next round? I must make new tactics, so I need to make some changes and try tactics on battle field with German clans or with my own guys. What was your clan’s general goal coming into this tournament, if you have one? Our goal was modest... I wanted to get 3-4 wins, but after 4 wins, we were fighting for Lucky 7 paint, because we had normal enemies that we could beat... Thanks for your time, good luck in achieving your goals! -------------------------------------------------- SuperNick95 Organizer of Lucky 7 Being an organizer of the Lucky 7, what were the goals when it first started? How was it supposed to differentiate with the ones of CSL? Well the first and most important thing is that we had a paint as a prize. This has never happened before in the English community, and we are glad that we finally managed to do it. You know, tournaments are not drug wars that you can play every day in every server, or battles (unfortunately) with mults, tournaments are battles where the main point is to show your own skills and result in being the best thanks to them. So we think a special paint is the right prize for a couple of skilled players, who proved themselves to be strong enough to get it. I've seen quite a few rule breakers that have penalized some of the clans in the matches we've seen, are the rules going to change in the future, or are the consequences to be harsher to ensure no rules will be broken? Yes the rules are about to change. Unfortunately we can't stop the players from breaking the rules, the most important thing is that they know that if they do it, especially voluntarily, there will be consequences. So yes we had to give penalties who teams who tried to obtain an unfair advantage in the battle or tried to disturb it. However we collected the suggestions from the team leaders during this first season and we'll use them to improve the rules before the second season starts. It was the first time we've ever had this tournament, so I'd say it's obvious that there is something to change... We just tried the beta version. When will the next season be? Many are wanting to join in on the tournament. Will there be more space allowed for clans to enter? We don't know. Right now Bruce is away and busy with real life, so we'll tell you as soon as we know. Yes, the last 5 clans will be kicked out and 5 new clans from the waiting list will be able to join the tournament. That's about it, thank you for your time. The English Community looks forward to the next season! -------------------------------------------------- We don't know what's in store for next season, but we know it's to come with lots of changes for the better! Thanks for your suggestions and opinions of those interviewed, we are listening to them. Being said, it is the first time that we have a special paint for a tournament in the English Community, so this is one tournament you cannot miss out on. Without Bruce, the Lucky 7 may be quite a struggle in the future, but the community hopes the next one will be as enjoyable as the previous one. Best of luck to Semyon taking over, whom we know will do an amazing job in the next month. Stay tuned to find out when and what the next Lucky 7 will bring to the clans.
