Why shouldn't candidates be staff? They're on thr staff list. They do anything else a normal staff would do.

Story [Issue 13] A Bright Beginning
SpreadLoveNotHate replied to SpreadLoveNotHate in [Issue 13] A Bright Beginning Newspaper Archive
*Pew* The strange noise has awaken me to a sight of pure light and energy. Struggling to see through the small openings of my eyelids, the sudden glow of light turned the atmosphere inside bright, and then back into darkness as if I were asleep once again. I find myself sleeping on the blueprints of the future weapons. Soaked in saliva, the ink is seeping through to the corners of the page. More than 20 hours of work disappearing in front of me, I slightly weep as I hear rain dropping onto the cold hard pavements outside our test facility. Once again, a streak of light shot across the room. This time, I felt its full velocity and had put me off my chair. As my blinded eyes start to clear up again, I see flashes of lightning that light up the room. More than 20 colleagues were all up and around this dull, big, stick of metal connected to a generator. My curiosity picks me up off my feet as I find myself being attracted towards the dull unattractive metal. One of my fellow colleagues welcomes me back into the group as he introduces the gang's new toy to me. I get escorted into the middle of the group, the rest huddle around me. The metal was shaped as a stick, with a couple of holes in it, attached to a small box at the end of one side of the metal rod. I realize that this was one of my blueprints, the focus of our crew for the past couple of months. Before my nap, the idea was still in the blueprint process, and now, I see the realized dream. The original blueprint carried the idea of having a concentrated beam of light, at all of its power in one single color. This ensures that the beam would be as powerful as it can be, with only have one certain wavelength. I go back to find the blueprint originally on my desk. There is nothing at all, just my regular stationary, soaking blueprints, and my little spinning top that reminds me of my family at home. I spin the top with my stiff fingers, and slowly walk back to where my colleagues were working. The top of the box connected to the rail-shaped metal tube was open, while our best scientist was tweaking the inside with a screwdriver and a pair of tweezers. I stand there for quite a while watching. No, it wasn't because I was interested, the small candlelight beside the scientist was all there was for us to navigate the room. Once again, the scientist nods and gives a go for another test fire. A couple inch thick sheet of metal was placed on a stool where the tube was pointed. Once again, the light burned my eyes as I failed to look away, and after the shadows in my eyes dimmed, I saw a three inch hole through the metal. Chatter broke up as well as the interest in the weapon as the group scattered. The weapon testing was done and ready for the field. My director tells me to go back to where I usually slept, in the corner, and rest myself. Usually, a weapon that's finished testing stages gets equipped onto the current tanks as the tankers get training on how to use them in recruit battles. Those battles require less skill, and helps them learn the basics of the weapon. I ponder over my continuation of life as a tanker, and how my dreams were finally realized. I have always been a scientist before the war, and the years of preparation have made me who I am today. It all goes back to the day the build of the rail began. My eyes became watery, and my open mouth quickly turned in a yawn. I fall asleep once again, but my thoughts trailed on and transformed into the form of a dream. It took me back to the day I joined the scientists on the new weapon project. It was to create a weapon that could take out more than one tank at once, maximizing time and effort. The physics was simple, but resources and time was limited since the war had already started. We needed to get this going, and fast to ensure that our front will not be lost. Earlier, I talked with our commander, and he promised to let me test the new weapon on the battlefield, after a couple of days of desperate begging. I was excited, and I certainly felt that I was no longer out of place from this foreign group of nerds. For once after my parents' death, I felt the indescribable feeling of having a family. I wake up, I glance at my clock as it shows that the sun has yet to rise. There is something about today that I felt is special, it is the morning where testing on the battlefield was planned. I am excited, beyond description. I get up with a slight struggle, and there on my desk, the top continues its rotation. But the thought only lasted seconds as I walk past it to get ready for our trip. This is a training battle, though real, it was a slightly simpler objective, and we are quickly briefed in another department by the General. Objectives were simple, to raid the shoreline outside of a city named Magadon. This is a surprise attack, and we should be able to plow through their little defences quickly. There were little defences, and it was still early in the morning. We made our way to the garage, and we drive our hornets equipped with the new gun carefully out of the small opening. We were told this morning it has been named Railgun M0 prototype. I leap into my tank through the top lid. It's already personalized with all of my personal belongings, water, a picture of my beloved child at home, and also my key chain that my son made for me on my 40th birthday. I keep it with me everywhere I go, as it gives me all I have left of a purpose in life. I attempt to focus back into my current task, when my transponder gave out an enemy signal. It was quite a few miles ahead, and we are told our rails had unlimited distance, so it should not be a problem. 7 other tankers and I move into a predefined formation and we advance forward. Seconds later after advancing, we were receiving heavy fire by enemy Smokies, and in a desperate attempt to save the other tankers, I stepped in front of the middle tanker, and became his shield. It didn't last very long, as my tank's armor weakened to a point where it could no longer hold fire. Fighting to fend off the Smokies, I try shooting the sides of their tanks to make them lose aim. It was my last hope to make them run, or I would have to face consequences to my heroic but dangerous behaviors. Amazingly, the Smoky that was shooting me blew up. The rail had proven its usefulness, but that didn't last very long. Another enemy tank filled the Smoky's place and had done the final blow to my tank. I heard a loud explosion from the engine, and just sat tight to hope for the best. That' mostly what we have to do on the battlefield. Then another blast occurred and I plummet into a state of complete darkness...I was...dead? No, everything around me was dark. And then there was light at the end of the tunnel, the dark place I was in, there was an exit. I get to there as fast as I can, only to find that I wake up to sitting inside my tank. I look at the clock, only to see that it was a couple of hours ago. Before the fighting started. I still remember everything had happened before and during the battlefield scene. But why am I back here, was it even just a dream? I grab my headset and ask my friends who are in my battalion, the only thing they thought was that I was losing my mind. No matter how many times I've said in the couple of minutes of preparation, they just ignored me and started mentally preparing for what happened. Why is time rewinded? Another million questions popped into my head, most of which I can only use imagination to answer. I hopelessly decide to go along with things and see what would happen. It was just like another broken audio recording, but in real life. What I suddenly realize was that there is nothing I can do. Nothing. So, I decide to play along with it, and everything that happened before happened again. We arrived in the battlefield, and this time, I was careful not enough to be killed, but it was fate that decided my second death a few seconds after dodging the first repeated attack. The Smoky critical hits me, and my tank is once again gone. At that moment, everything just rewinds, and this time, I caught the sight of the whole split-second rewind showing what had happened previously and in no time, it is the same again. The feeling of death haunts me for the second time. I decide to step out of my tank. It was enough for today, even though today had barely started, and I left to find a quiet place and catch my breath. I am panting even though I was sitting for the whole time. My adrenaline was indescribably high and the near death experiences put me in a state of shock. I think as hard as I can, and then, I remember something, it was a clicking sound every time before I died. It was as if it predicted what would happen, and clicked to put me back in time. It sounded distant, I try to find the source by using rethinking what had happened, and all I saw was a little button of light from the corner of a far wall. It was flashing everytime a click had happened. Of course, I would like to relive some moments over again, but this is not one of those. If only I could perfect my moves and kill the device, I could maybe free myself of this wretched curse, and get my life back. All I need is some more rail training and some luck. I pray, and then walk off to talk to my leader about the hideously ridiculous plan. To Be Continued... -

Guide [Issue 13] Ten Ways to Have a Great Time
SpreadLoveNotHate replied to SpreadLoveNotHate in [Issue 13] Ten Ways to Have a Great Time Newspaper Archive
A series can't end without telling what you can do to have fun, especially with a series of lists of things you can do to maximize your efforts of having a great time on Tanki. Through Ten Ways to Avoid Ban, Ten Ways to Maximize Experience, and Ten Ways to be a Successful Teammate, this has all geared you up to be the best player you can be and to have the most fun you can! But, why go around in circles when we can state the obvious? Here's ten great ways to have fun, and through these, I've had a great time on Tanki, thanks to the game, and the community. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Make more friends. It's just a game, but the more friends you have in the game, the more fun you will have if you know more of your team. You can direct them, and hopefully be successful in having a good foundation for a game, so you don't have to base it on drugs! Be friendly in chat, and get to know people better. It's not hard to find someone with similar likes of you, and end up being best buddies on the game. If you find it hard, just invite your real friends into Tanki. As a community, we welcome old members, as well as appreciating the veterans. Don't forget, if they go through the invite link from your account, you can earn crystals whenever they rank, or even purchase crystals on the game! Upgrade your garage, but be smart on what to upgrade. If you want to kill your opponents easier, it is recommended that you upgrade a gun to a higher modification than upgrading your hull to that modification. Your hull does make a difference on performance, but it is the kills you make that get you the exp you need to rank, and you need a better gun to do more efficient killing. If you have the crystals, you should try getting other guns to higher modifications and try everyone, because each of them are a unique and cool experience. Try out all the maps by feeling the atmosphere, and pick out ones that you prefer to play in, so you don't have to go blind into maps each time. For example, I like gameplay where height is a factor, so I would try out some maps, and find that Noise fits my preferences. Therefore, I would like to play in a Noise battle more than any map. It is a good way to choose what you want to actually spend your time to play and train in, because there's no point if you will leave after you join, finding that you actually hate how the gameplay happens in the particular map. The same applies to the game mode you would prefer to play in. Personally, I prefer Capture the Flag battles, because of the focus on one place, instead of having multiple focuses in a game, and having lost players. Be active on the forum. Well, if you're reading this (which you would be if you see this), you should be actively posting in the forum. Lots of things happen around this community, and most of which are entertaining to read, or at least to know about. There's contests you can participate in, there's forum games, there's groups you can join such as clans and teams, and there's other topics, ideas, and interesting facts you should know about. Also, they are great conversation starters if you want to boost up your popularity level in the chat! Train with friends in a particular weapon to get better at it, and hopefully do well in a battle. Many people, after long hours of practice, develop certain techniques and skills that others may not appreciate, or even know of. It's these unknown techniques that put them up above the rest of the teammates and make them successful in battle. Even though sharing these techniques may leech out the secrets, you would have more fun using new techniques on a weapon, than just plain using a killing machine. Don't break rules. This has been stated over and over again throughout Ten Ways to Avoid Bans, but it has to be said again, as I still see many who break rules 'just cause they want to'. Being muted in chat, being unable to talk to friends, seeing things happen and not being able to share it, being stranded to play whatever is already made and unable to make battles, it's not fun. Being able to talk in Tanki and chat with friends is a great blessing and a great job on the side of the developers'. It connects our community and gives us a great place to chill in between battles and catch up with other tankmen's lives. Find your place in this community. A lot of us are destined to go our ways into helping this community be a better place. Some of us join staff, and some of us stay as a regular member, but help out in anyway they can. It's all very much appreciated, and it's just something that people would look up to. If you're not doing something, try getting better connections with people in the community, and see what you can do to help. It's great pride! Watch the cyber sport events, and join in on the talk. It's ok if you don't have a clan or a team that's participating, because Cyber sport staff help to organize these events for players who just want to watch, and gain skills of their own. Just enjoy watching some of the best players play in map favourites and share the news with others. Come daily to discover new things, and get rewards. Coming everyday increases your chances of getting a good reward in the daily bonus which you get daily. Usually, you can get Double Crystal Cards, Drugs (Health, Double Power, Double Armor, Nitro, Mines), No Supplies Battle Pass for a day, or Crystals at a majority rank. Some are not as preferable, but you can always increase your chances of getting crystals, and better equipment to play with if you are here daily. You have nothing to lose! Find the tankman inside you. Every tankman has their own tanking personality. It's practically indescribable how each and every tanker is different, yet we use a lot of the same equipment in battle. It's because we think differently, and we have our own style of battling. If you haven't found yours yet, you should, because it's your signature, and it's what makes every one of us proud of what we do in this game. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Well, that's ten things you can do to have fun in this game. Most of which, you probably have already done. If you thought reading this was repetitive, just appreciate that now, you can combine all of these, and really personalize what you do here in the community, and help make it a better one. -

•• Back with more variety, thanks for your replies, keep them coming! •• ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Spy Story Leaked Out Worldwide Edward Snowden, a 29 year old man, flew to Hong Kong a couple of weeks ago as he was about to unveil some of the most shocking information to the public. As an NSA agent, flown from Hawaii where he has been working for the defense contractor Booz Allen Hamilton, the largest spy surveillance organisation that exists. Snowden revealed that the US government have been eavesdropping on their citizens, and this is allowing no freedom at all. Snowden, avoiding being caught as he would be captured and taken back to the US to seek imprisonment or the death sentence, travels to Moscow while Hong Kong does not have a restriction on Snowden from leaving the Special Administrative Region. The documents that the US government provided did not fully comply with requirements under Hong Kong's law, therefore not being able to restrict his travel. The US later accuses China of aiding Snowden's assistance of departing from Hong Kong, in which China fully denies. Currently in Russia, the Russian government urge Snowden to depart, but they also say that 'Snowden has committed no crime in Russia,' Russian President Vladmir Putin states. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Nelson Mandela in Critical Condition Nelson Mandela was hospitalized in early June for a recurring lung infection, and recently, his condition escalated to being critical. Nelson Mandela is a 94 year old former South African President and political activist that was the first African President. He is recognized as a symbol of resistance against injustice and fought for freedom for Africans in South Africa. He is also known as the founder of South Africa's multicultural democracy, and has won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1993. On Wednesday, current South African President Jacob Zuma visited Mandela at the Hospital twice, worrying the public. Mandela has previously contracted a lung infection while he spent time in prison, and his current health is deteriorating. His eldest daughter, Makaziwe, says that his condition is 'very critical' and also 'anything is imminent'. US President Barack Obama visits South Africa for a week hoping to visit and meet Nelson Mandela, something he had done 8 years back as a Senator. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ June 4th Vigil Trying to Prove a Point Annually on June 4th, residents of Hong Kong, including adults and children alike, gather to protest against the cruelty of what happened to the large amount of people who were killed in Tiananmen Square in Beijing, China 24 years ago. Tens of thousands of people were organised to meet at Victoria Park, located near Causeway Bay in Hong Kong Island. This is one of the only events in which you would find students, because of the majority of the population killed 24 years ago were students. Back in 1989, a non violent protest started in Beijing as many university students went to protest against inflation, limited career paths, and other problems related to the government. The Chinese government sent in the military, with tanks and armed soldiers. The military, on that day, opened fire on the unarmed protesters while media was being blocked. Many were killed, some squashed by tanks, and others severely injured. ______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Meteor Shock wave Circles Earth Twice In February in Chelyabinsk, Russia, a shock wave created by a passing burning asteroid shook the city, as scientists now discover using tests that it was the strongest one ever to hit. The asteroid burned up directly on top of the city, creating injuries up to a thousand people. Ultra low frequency waves, infrasound, was detected, through nuclear detecting stations. Surprisingly to those at the nuclear test monitoring station, it was not a nuclear test but the passing hunk of flaming space rock passing through the atmosphere. Scientists from the Atomic Energy Commission in France said that it was a shock wave created equivalent to 460 kilotonnes of TNT. It is an explosion to a massive scale degree. Inhabitants of Chelyabinsk were injured due to the breaking glass, and shattering windows, in which was created by the intense shock wave. _______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Miami Heat Takes Home NBA Championship After seven close and heart stopping games with a tense fourth quarter during the seventh game, Miami Heat wins 95 - 88 against Spurs as Spurs held on to the first three quarters but slipped on the last. The fourth quarter was what the game was up to, since both teams were neck in neck during the first three quarters. In the end, Miami came up top, with Lebron James leading the Miami Heats to their second consecutive championship. As well, James was awarded MVP for his hard efforts, and outstanding performance in any game. Miami have been a strong team last season, and with the addition of Allen, they were an even better team, with teamwork and great mentality. Many from the beginning thought they could get their second one, and it was definitely no surprise! -
Guide [Issue 13] CTF Focus: Medium Maps II
SpreadLoveNotHate replied to SpreadLoveNotHate in [Issue 13] CTF Focus: Medium Maps II Newspaper Archive
The second installment dedicated to Medium Maps, and the last of the series CTF Focus, here's a mega guide to the most popular Medium Maps in Tanki, with tips and success guides for any rank! All of these maps are different in many ways, such as the in-map objects, gameplay, etc. Here's a long guide to the commonly played maps Boombox, Noise, Wave, and one that is less common, Atra. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Starting the long list of maps, is Boombox. Probably more common in lower ranks, it provides gameplay with a variety of surroundings throughout the map. The raised ledge in the middle, the buildings, trees, and some structures give lots of places to hide, camp, and a great amount of routes for players to take. Things to Notice > The large amount of buildings, the raised platform, and the trees give great spots for camping and hiding if they have the right paint. > Flag can be covered through hidden areas, or places where they can defend without being in a line of sight until the opponent gets to the flag. > Mostly three routes a flag bearer could go, the two sides, and the middle. This map is similar to sandbox with the same raised middle, but the different objects differentiate the strategies and plans needed to capture the flag. > Raised middle can be an advantage to those who use it to cover, and attack when they kill their enemies. Recommended Team > Hornets (You see this a lot in my guides) for speed, a heavy tank for campers, and a medium hull to cover the the flag bearing tank. > Any range of weapons work well in this map, because of the surroundings and objects in the map. There are camping spots for the short ranged weapons, as well as long ranged weapons, and medium ranged weapons are quite effective because of the size of this map. Gameplay Strategies A great and fast way to overcome a team's defense is to attack them from all directions. This will get them separated, and you have a better chance that if you have a larger swarm of tanks, they would be less reactive to what is going to happen. Have one tank go in first as a distraction, and get the others in as a backup and take out whatever tanks are between you, and the flag. Grab the flag, and whoever is close to the flag bearer, cover him. If not, just make sure the tanks either don't spawn, or cannot catch up with the flag bearer. Defensively, the only thing you need to be aware of is where your enemy is coming in. The flag stays in one place, so you should be more worried about where the incoming enemies are over where you are positioned. Ins and outs: _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ A unique map where teams are practically trying to push either up or down steep slopes instead of wide open areas. Things to Notice > If you are on blue team, you are on the bottom of the map, attacking upwards, whereas the red team's base is on the very top of the map, attacking downwards. > Attacking downwards may seem like an advantage, but you are walking straight into a base where there are only 3 exits out, defenders can easily slow you down, or even kill you before you can get out of the base. > Attacking upwards makes a faster getaway, in which attacking downwards you get into the base easier, they are balanced. > Mines are very effective since both bases have great camping spots inside the base, so you don't have to take damage if you are the defender. Recommended Team > Mammoths or other large hulls with medium ranged weapons, Hornets with low range weapons > It is necessary that Firebird, Freeze, and Isida are equipped with light hulls because the speed is needed to keep the enemies from getting away. As well, those attacking could be slower in this case, because you mostly are jumping off cliffs to get to places (or that is a recommended way if you don't flip). It is more efficient than driving down slopes. Gameplay Strategies Mines are important in this map. Since there are lots of hiding areas inside the base, one can place lots of mines, and then hide to provide all the defense necessary for the team, while the others can attack. If you are playing NS or don't have mines, a simple way is to have a camping Freeze. The Freeze will slow down the enemies going for the flag, while you can grab the rest of your team in an all out attack. As well, some other strategies would be to attack in 2 groups. A great way to get away easily is to mine your trail and for whoever follows, they will be killed by the mine. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Wave is probably one of the simpler maps on this guide. It's simplicity contains a flag at either ends of the rectangular map, and 3 raised hills separating the flags. With two walls in the middle raised hill, it is practically all there is to this map. Things to Notice > Defending the flag is easier because of the isolated flag area. If you aren't close to the base, you would not know who and what is sitting in the base. > Lots of open space, it is always an advantage if you are higher than your enemy. Recommended Team > Defending Mammoth Freeze > Light/Medium Hulls for attacking > Medium/Long range weapons, except for a defending Freeze - It is necessary that for such an open map, you don't concentrate on getting close to your enemy to kill, because they can easily get backup. Gameplay Strategies Take your enemies down while you're far away, and stall as much as you can while you're inside the base so you can allow one tank to get away with your enemies' flag. If they can suppress the enemy from getting to your side of the map, bring your Freeze defender up, and while you attack, have the defender stall your enemies and slow them at spawn. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ An exciting map with two paths going up to the top, and another path through the middle going down, it is very open except for a few walls and the slopes that block visibility. Things to Notice > This map is practically symmetrical, even sides > Top area necessary if you would like to gain control over one's base Recommended Team > Any type of hull would be effective in this map, because if it's great area. Though light hulls are faster, their low health could make it more difficult to attack if they are in the line of sight at all times. > Medium to Long ranged weapons, short ranged will be ineffective because of the open areas. Rail and Smoky are more effective. Gameplay Strategies Firstly, it is important that one or two tanks stay at the top of the map. It is the main way that people will be getting through to your base. Even if they choose to take the path at the bottom, they would be in your line of sight and sniping them off from the top would be easiest. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________ There's most of the small and medium sized maps you would play in your Tanki career! This marks the end of the CTF Focus series, my first done as reporter. Hope you guys enjoyed it and took something away. See you in the battlefield ^_^ Boombox photo courtesy of noobblog.net -
Daily bonuses are completely random. This has been posted many times on the forum before. I've bought quite a few crystals and I still get DCC's lots. It's how the system works. Don't flood the forum with these topics and use the search button. Thanks, and have a great day.

Consultant candidate #2 LOK :'(

Whoever's in the forum is probably a user. Don't create a topic to get people to get you crystals. This is flooding the forum. Pointless topic.

Why is not there a tool to sell things that you do not want
SpreadLoveNotHate replied to aass5w in Archive
This has been suggested many times already. Tanki will not create a 'Sell' button. Please learn to use a tool called the 'Search', people have answered this already before. -
Thanks :) Hopefully next time I can join, it was painful to watch it from the outside and listen to call :D
-
No, next one Microchip
-
Could've posted this in the freeze nerfed thread instead of making another topic. But thanks devs ^_^
