[Issue 20] Diabetic Tanker, Journal Pt. 1

Diabetic Tanker, Journal Pt. 1 NOTICE: This is intended for more mature viewers. Preface Joining was not an option. They said they needed more. Bigger means better? Since numbers are rapidly decreasing, they aren't doing so good. Progress is little, or that's what they tell us. More tanks are made than are tankers. You have to expect that once numbers are low, they would start to look for more desperate measures to get people to join. Knowing this, I've had preparations made. I'm next. No turning back... ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I trail off as it's dinner time. Time to get some food. Though before that, I have to get my injection done. Twice a day, I have to inject insulin into my hip or thigh to supply for the missing insulin my pancreas doesn't make enough of. I quickly dial up the syringe to the right amount and just inject. I'm no doctor, but after having done this for most my life, it's routine. Some days, it hurts when I inject in the wrong place and hit a blood vessel. I wish they could just find a better alternative already. This? It's keeping me alive. Barely. I go and grab the little food left and turn on the radio. For the past few days, all I've been hearing is about this whole Conscription idea. They said officials are coming to get you to join. Either that, or be imprisoned. No way I'm going to live in a small confined hole in the ground. I'd rather be out fighting for the country, even if I'm forced. I finish my meal in bitterness and struggle to pick myself up to take a shower. Meal was, well, insufficient. I guess managing my blood sugar will keep me healthier than managing being full after every meal. I finish my shower, and go to sleep early. ** I'm in a tank...I feel like I'm falling. I am falling. I scream out loud and prop myself up. I was having a dream. Weird dream. Damn, I'm sweating so much. I piece the puzzle together while still half asleep. Weird dreams, excessive sweating...oh shoot, low blood sugar. I run to get something sweet to thrown down my stomach to bring my blood sugar back up. Suddenly, I peer out the window to see lights. Bright lights, in the early morning. Not a good sign, I think to myself. In no time, a loud knock startles me. I'm greeted by soldiers, the night sky has yet to reveal its colors other than black. They tell me I'm being enlisted to join the tank battalion. If I refuse, they have the right to put me in a little jail hole for years and years to come. I agree, I expected this. I have nothing left to live for in life. Life is a pain from day to day, as I struggle to get sleep without any disturbances from my health state. They allow me a couple of minutes to get what I need, as this may be the last time I'm coming back here. I grab the suitcase in which I have everything packed already. Good planning eh? No. It's so I won't choose the other option, to be a useless liability to the country. I want to be an asset. This is what the country might need me as. Might, only if I survive the first day. Then, they walk me away from my house, as I load onto the truck, I get a last glimpse of my freedom. I fall asleep on the truck. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Day 1 June 2nd The driver of the vehicle woke me up with a pat on the shoulder telling me that I'm here. Training grounds. Great. I feel like I'm entering a deathtrap already. They held a file with a big CONFIDENTIAL written on the front. I peek in and see my name, written all over the pages. Oh, it's my own profile. I'm sure they know everything about me already. Annoyed, I get off, and follow the officer. I can infer that they know about my Diabetes. I ask them for clarification. "Do you know about my current state of health?" "We are quite clear with that, yes." "Yet I am clearly unfit for infantry, don't you see?" "Infantry is not what we have in plan for you. I'm sure you've noticed by now the lot of tanks that are put here in this base? You will be trained to drive one of these" "Yet how will I be able to manage my diabetic state while confined in a little cramhole that I may be in for long hours?" "Well, that's your problem to solve. We need fighters, not problems," as the officer rudely walked away. I guess I could carry some sweets in the tank for those bad times, but when my blood sugar gets low and blurry vision kicks in, I might not even have any idea what I'm shooting. How little they even care about my well being worries me the most. How am I supposed to survive in this? This might be even worse than being safe and out of harm's way in a confined hole known as jail. I settled into my little space for a while until a loudspeaker called all trainees to the training ground. It was still early in the morning, the sun barely peeked out of the mountain. We went to do physical training for some reason, and it was constant running and pushups. I feel dizzy and fell into eternal darkness in a split second. And I'm supposed to last in this. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

[Issue 20] [Guide] Choosing the Right Clan/Team

Choosing the Right Clan/Team Joining a clan or a team can enhance a player's Tanki experience. Clans and teams allow a player to play with friends, and have a chance to enter tournaments and championships with their friends to win prizes. There are endless things to do when you're in a Clan or a Team, you can organize Parkour trials, games, and get help from friends in battles of troubles. Though joining a Clan or Team shouldn't be done blindly. There are factors that need to be considered about the team before joining. Let this help you find the right solution that works around your life! Am I Suitable for a Clan/Team? That's the question you should be asking yourself before even considering which Clan or Team to join. Being in a Clan or a Team is fun and all, but it requires a lot of attention and time, especially if you have a more important role in the team such as Co-leader or Trainer. Before joining one, reflect on your daily schedules, and see if you have any time to be in a Clan or Team. A lot of clans or teams want active members, so, you need to be very honest to yourself. If you cannot dedicate more than around two or three hours a week to the Clan or Team, it's probably not a good idea to join one. As well, joining a group as such can change the way you choose your battles, etc. A lot of Clans and Teams have strict friends and enemies. If you have a friend that's an enemy, you might be forced to join against him/her. Lastly, you should know that once you've joined a Clan or Team, you have to stay in it for a month before you may join another Clan or Team, since your are registered to the clan monthly, and Transfer Window only comes out once a month. Even though you can cut all connections and completely ignore them if such hatred may arise (it does happen sometimes), you still have to wait to join another Clan/Team. What should I look for when I choose my clan/team? Well, you have to first understand that joining a clan or a team is to allow for players to find similar skilled friends and to have battles against groups of around the same level in controlled, fair battles. This way, you'll be able to show off your skills without any limitations. Here's what you should be looking out for! Friends! Nothing's as fun as playing a game with friends! Find a Clan/Team where you have a couple of friends to hang out with, so you're not alone! Of course meeting new friends is important, but having old ones by your side is always a pleasure. If you have friends scattered in different places, just find one where you would like to hang with the most. If anything, you can go to another clan/team after a month. (Even though jumping from one to another frequently is not recommended) Look at the rank!! Meeting minimum requirements to join a clan/team? Great! Before you jump right into the strongest one you can find that accepts you, look at the members inside the group. What rank are they? Would you be able to play with them often? There really isn't a point in joining a Clan/Team when all you get to do is stand by and do nothing. Find one where members are around the same rank as yours, and frequently, join their battles, participate in trainings, help them win drug wars (one of my favourite), enter tournaments, and just chat the day away. How organized are they? Organization is key to a Cybersport group. If one is rather disorganized, you can predict that it's chances of closing are greater than ones that are more organized. To see if one is organized, just take a look at trainings, and wars. If they had a lot of wars and have quite a few planned in the future, then you know that it has an organized system. Avoid enemies! As your Tanki career goes on, you're bound to have made enemies despite the many friends that you have also met along the way. Avoid these enemies that you may have, so that you won't have to be arguing with them. Of course, this can apply to all aspects of life, but in a Clan/Team, you might be seeing each other quite often in Skype chats, battles, and wars. If you really want to join the Clan/Team? Well, then you have to learn to love your enemies. You can't avoid the fact that you have to co-exist, so just learn to get along. Ideals BIG thing here. People with similar ideals become friends, easier than those with opposite ideals. (Another important life skill here, probably one of the things you should take away from this article) Read through the posts that the team has made on the forum. Do they fit your concept of being a 'good' or 'ideal' Clan/Team? Of course, you cannot expect everyone in a group to be perfect. Just find one that has similar ideals to what you have, such as whether they would choose 'having fun' over 'winning a battle'. If you're not sure, just try it out for a month, and if it really doesn't work, then you have a valid reason to leave. Time Zones Another important thing to consider when joining a team. If you're not in the same time zone as the rest of the team, or a similar one, then there really isn't a point of joining. Time zones determine how: - Active a Clan/Team is when you're available - Often you are able to attend trainings/wars - Often you can join battles with your friends in the Clan/Team If you have a far off time zone, my advice is to stay away! Are you what they want? Last but not least, you want to be what they want. This way, they will value your existence No one wants to be in something where they're not wanted. If you don't meet the requirements of the clan/team (which are often posted on the first page), then there really shouldn't be any bother in begging your way in. That way, they'll just think that you wanted to be in it, in which they won't treat you as well since they won't care for your existence. Harsh concept, but completely valuable to keep in mind! Conclusion Use these tips to find yourself the right Clan/Team. Sometimes, when you're lower rank, it's probably better off that you remain solo, as Clans and Teams both take up quite a bit of time. It might be simpler that you rank up before you join one, therefore, you can be an asset. Good luck in finding one, and do remember, if it's not right for you, don't force yourself to assimilate!
