Agree with the OP due to the fact that Tanki seems to want to promote skilled play, and this is one way of rewarding those who use the enemies splash damage to their advantage.

Currently, clan AK which I was involved with for 3 years before we closed it, is basically inactive and sleeping. However, this does not mean we want our reputation to be slandered by the bunch of kids who made a clan with the [AK] tag, which is crucially what we are both commonly known as. We also don't want to have the [AK] clan tag at this current time, so we don't want to claim it. I suggest a set of criteria which naturally disqualify some clans from being possible to have as a name or clan tag. Perhaps something similar to the following: -3+ Years of existence -Upon consultation of their Community eSports admin, they were deemed presitigious or successful enough for this. Lol, you don't know too much about eSports then, because Tournament officials always have access to the links in any respectable tournament, and in many games it will be streamed, so the streaming spectator can see if another spectator is in the map. In RU, when games are going o, mods constantly check each battle link to ensure this cheating doesn't happen.

I know there are other reasons for not allowing normal clans to have a Spectator account but your reasoning is incorrect as clans train in private battles and the other clans would not have this link, therefore they cannot spy on their enemies' trainings :) Spec is provided for top 8 clans btw, we in AK used to have one, but they were strict on rules like we couldn't record battles or go into non-training battles. Tanki all in all does not want to give out spectator accounts basically.

Lankbouv is King Right? ) More important question, why won't Tanki offer some money prizes for it's tournaments, it doesn't have to be much to raise the caliber and re attract all the old King players back to Tanki.
