These 2 sentences imply 2 different meanings, and maybe if you bothered to read between the lines, you would understand Dictionary Definition of stereotype "A widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular type of person or thing" Lets take what you said; "Italians have contributed immensely to the international cuisine" -It is widely held (even I used to believe this) -Oversimplified (all Italians are not chefs) -Is an idea (is a misconception) -Concerns ALL Italians (not just chefs) This statement meets and exceeds the criteria of of a stereotype (stereotypes are not necessarily negative) So I ask you, why place this label on Italians? Why place labels on anyone?
