The purpose of life would be irrelevant to the question of whether we are created by a god or evolved, however I'll answer the question; no we don't have a purpose outside of our own (You can give your life a purpose to live it the best you can etc. but not that the universe has some sort of plan for you). I don't think there was alien life on Mars since the particular conditions are not met that we know of, but it is possible that somewhere in the universe a different way of the origin of life might have occurred. Ken Ham again, the guy who wrote the answersingenesis? The same guy who taught children that because a god is older than the scientist we shouldn't listen to science? The guy who made the creationist museum? That "intelligent" creationist? I have listened to him a few times, every time he mistakenly talks about evolution. Yvano, the ancestor ape evolved just as we have. And that ancestor evolved too, and so on. You keep pointing at the origin of life for some reason? Hope or not, I will not impose an incorrect answer to make myself feel good, I feel well with this mindset. The closest you can have to a given purpose is to survive.

Yvano, how we came about is not evolution. And the chance argument only works if you're predicting the future, not the past. Since I can come up with a equation that would show how improbable the rain drop falling is, but it still falls. Earth didn't always rotate at the same speed too. The human eye has also been explained and still has flaws, such as the blind spot. I'm sure you can find a book or do a internet search or two to learn how DNA is formed. And go to an actual science site not the Ken Ham, Hovind, William L. Craig sites etc. since these sites seem to be mentioned here. Also, if you wish to argue the origin of life, I'm happy to talk about that too.

Again, evolution explains the diversity of not it's forming. Evolution can be observed and there is genetic evidence. Even if we don't know how life originated (which we pretty much know and is irrelevant) that won't disprove evolution.

Evolution explains the diversity of life not it's beginning, even if we don't know how we came about (which we have a good idea of) it still doesn't change the fact evolution happened and is happening. Evolution is also not an opinion, it's a statement of truth. A fact.

Religion is our first attempt of philosophy and to get answers. Naturally it was our worst and we should find better ideas. Death makes your life have no hope? Maybe try and make the life you have now better for you and everyone around you. Since we don't have much time we might as well use it to our full potential. You mean the death bed conversions? The human mind can't accept a proposition of not existing and will go to any idea that might change it.

From evolutionary perspective we have to do all we can to survive and draw guidelines from that. So your point is that science can't answer for morality. Well, the goal of a species is to survive and there are some things that it needs to do; life is preferable to death for a species that dies more than reproduces goes extinct, so those who kill are excluded from the society. Same can be done with stealing, people not taking things from each other reduces violence making the society more stable. This is how all morality is made, religious or otherwise.

Why do you think there is a purpose other than the one you give yourself? Whichever you look at it we are imperfectly evolved primates on a rock among billions of others. Humans are made to look for purpose, that is how we're evolved. When you ask children if a tree is there because animals need a place to scratch or if it's there because it grew out of a seed etc. they would say it's there for the animals. But we can now look wider than what we're originally evolved for, hard as it is. There simply isn't any reason to think we're here because there is a purpose for us. You can't give order where there isn't any, no matter how much you want.

To Hirl123, which mistake? You say a god (define god and which one) isn't in the known universe, yet put descriptions on him/her/it? Science has a pretty good answer as to why we exist, formation of the universe, stars forming planets, Earth cooling down etc. But to ask why in a sense that there is something that wants us to exist is foolish, since we are only a small dot in the whole universe, unimportant to anyone but ourselves. This is a bit like the god of the gaps, whatever we don't know we put a supernatural explenation. However as we know more the gap starts getting smaller.
