Couldn't agree more. Whole, fresh paper back at our doorstep early morn, and we don't have to await single articles on the main site avidly everyday. Great job, all you reporters. Now if only we didn't have wait for the sequels to this issue's articles till next month...!

Never mind, I suppose. From http://en.tankiwiki.com/Special:SpecialPages through http://en.tankiwiki.com/Special:PasswordReset (with a failed attempt to reset the password for my non-existent wiki account! :P) to, at last, landing at http://en.tankiwiki.com/Special:UserLogin/signup... *phew*... I got this: "You do not have permission to create this user account, for the following reason: The action you have requested is limited to users in the group: Administrators." Wouldn't it be a tad less confusing for lesser minds like us if http://en.tankiwiki.com/Special:UserLogin (from the main page and/or elsewhere) mentioned this simple nugget of wisdom as well?

Tanki Online Wiki Log-in Problem
mitropam replied to mitropam in Tanki Online Wiki Log-in Problem Archive
Is it just me or does everyone else have this problem as well? In the http://en.tankiwiki.com/ page, clicking "Log-in" (upper-right corner) leads to apparently nowhere for new users, as that page doesn't seem to provide any option for new-user registration at all. I'd assumed that my TO (in-game) user-id and password would suffice to log me in there just as it does in the fora. What am I missing? N.B.: http://en.tankiwiki.com/Special:SpecialPages lists the page titled "Log in"(http://en.tankiwiki.com/Special:UserLogin) under a section titled "Login / sign up". Hence some more confusion ensues. -
A little piece of advice for those who are considering buying through SMS and/or Mobile Payments for the first time: check if you have received a Double Crystal card in your Garage today. You'll find that to be a significant deciding factor, trust me. ;-)

@Raphael2: We need to to know a bit more as to the current status of this scenario. Would you please update?
-
Wouldn't that be a bit too salty?;)

I get that. To most of you who kindly replied, I'd love to know if beer, e.g., is prejudiced where you live or not (as an alcoholic drink, i.e.). For me, in India, it still kind of is: it's almost as if people have forgotten that beers/ales were all that their foreparents drank after the black death (plague) took hold in the fourteenth century, just because 'normal' drinking water wasn't that safe anymore.
-
Now that is hard to beat!
-
hhgb:Now that's kind of tough! ;) Personally, I'll give you that ice cream float. Deliciousness beats semantics, after all! SpHryfBossOkies, mate; ice cream is in. Just for you.;)

Root Beer is still non-alcoholic in most parts of the world.

The (inherent) Mathematics in Tanki
mitropam replied to mitropam in The (inherent) Mathematics in Tanki Archive
Now I don't about you, but I'm someone who likes Mathematics. Weird, right? Anyway, for those of you like me out there, wouldn't you prefer if the Tanki Online Developers gave us some periodic insights as to the Mathematics that goes on behind the scenes in order to come up with newer features of TO? Post here if you agree. Tanki Devs...: we promise not to fret even if you provide us with a bunch of Navier-Stokes equations.... :P After all, getting to admire the 'physical' inner-workings of a game that we all love so much should prove to be nothing but a boon to a legion of us. E.g., what sort of brachistochrone does the average thunder shot follow? B) -
Gefordeon:Good for you! It pays to stay hydrated, after all.

Don't tell me your initials are EBA! ;) For me, it was just my real first name.

hhgb So around 30ml of hot water added to your standard espresso? fighter566: Aren't you thirsty? ;) micah7586: I wish I could have that.... Please use the edit button instead of making new posts. Thanks, micah7586.I'll keep that in mind for future posts, starting from now.:P

What Are You Drinking at the Moment?
mitropam replied to mitropam in What Are You Drinking at the Moment? Archive
I hope I'm not violating Game Rule 2.3.16, as the phrasing therein is kind of hazy (to me, at least!), but I'd like to know what you (and by "you" I mean those legally able to consume alcohol in your country/territory) are drinking when you see this/were last playing the game. Especially, if you could mention the v/v (volume-per-volume) alcohol content in your drink, that'd be an educating experience to the rest of us since most countries have different rules as to those. If you were/are drinking a non-alcoholic beverage, mention that too. After all, even coffee coming on in top would be fine, just so long as it's not tea!;) Remember, though: no food... only drinks. -
^^^ Agree. This one is much more consolidated and, consequently, comprehensible. Can't this stay open?:P

For those of you labouring under the delusion that the decision to terminate Raphael2's YouTube account was undertaken entirely by a YT 'personnel', per se, I have a simple saying for you: the bigger a corporation, the more automated it is. It's pretty easy for a YT user to selectively flag the videos of another user s/he has a vendetta against... to the point of rendering said second user's channel nonexistent, and I speak from experience. Whether or not Raph violated certain rules (unlikely, btw!), I'm more than willing to give him the benefit of doubt. Why? Simple. If you are a Tanki Online player--and you have had more than a fleeting interest in it--you must have watched at least a couple of Raphael's finest, and, more importantly, have appreciated those to the boot. Lastly, when in the darker corners of YT you can still find abysmal videos of stuff I'd rather not speak about within just a click away, deleting the channel of someone 'perpetrating' nothing but his love for a particular game (and educating scores of others in the process) is just plain wrong.

You're at 256 signatures already! Did my part. Hope you get your channel back.

From now on, no extra fees on SMS payments — forever!
mitropam replied to semyonkirov in News Archive
That's great! Try out different mobile operators. If one doesn't straightaway support texting to premium numbers, you can call their customer service representatives to try and set it up (without any extra fee, obviously). Anyway, no harm in trying out different operators, since, as far as I can tell, you don't spend anything if a particular service doesn't work--the text doesn't get sent, that's all. And if yours works right away, then that's even better. -

Thanks, ariking777.It's just that us folks from the developing countries often miss out on chances like these simply because the whole process is, sometimes, totally unfamiliar and unprecedented to us. I'm not going to go over the whole buyer-vs.-nonbuyer debate again, of course, for I believe that choice should be left to the people who play the game. Nor do I think that my meagre contribution will make any difference to Tanki's funds, even. Simply put, people should get the chance to take an educated decision: whether they end up buying or not is an entirely different story. :) -

Just to clear up some confusions, India DOES have the option for SMS payments. AIRTEL, MTNL, LOOP, & BSNL all are listed as carriers that support this facility. However, you have to check whether your plan with your carrier includes the ability to send texts to premium-rate numbers. For some carriers, you might have to set it up by calling them first. As an impecunious bloke currently living on a scholarship in a third-world country, I'd never considered buying before, obviously. But this last month with this no-extra-fees-on-SMS-payments stuff going on, I finally couldn't resist and tried paying about 165.45 INR (about 2.83 USD) for 4583 crystals. I have two sim cards amongst the four listed above: AIRTEL and BSNL. BSNL didn't work. AIRTEL DID work. I had a double crystal card as a daily gift that day, and I indeed ended up with 9166 crystals within moments of sending the text. A fair investment, i should say, considering that it enabled me to buy my first m1 (Ricochet, on the last sale, at 50%) in the game. For those of you who still are a tad unsure as to how to proceed with the process, these are the steps. But first, let me remind you that I've always been a prepaid user. So postpaid plans I know nothing about. 1. Basically, all you need to buy crystals in India through SMS payment over an AIRTEL prepaid connection is this: your AIRTEL account balance should be at least the cost amount (in INR) that you are going to spend. 2. Currently, as you can check through pressing the Tanki Online website's BUY button, you have three options: A. 165.45 INR for 4583 crystals; B. 109.20 INR for 3025 crystals; C. 33.09 INR for 917 crystals. 3. So, e.g., if you want to buy option B, you need to have at least 109.20 INR (preferably 10 or 20 Rs. more) in your prepaid mobile balance. 4. Then you just need to send a text to a number (54999606, to be precise) in a particular format (check the three different SMS formats for options A, B, & C in the website), and, within moments, the exact amount in INR that you chose to spend will be deducted from your mobile balance and the relevant number of crystals will show up in your Tanki account. 5. That's it, really. To sum up, I personally have tried it with BSNL and AIRTEL both. BSNL didn't work--no money was spent, just that the text simply refused to go to that specific number. AIRTEL worked like a charm instantaneously. MTNL and LOOP users might try and post up their results. -
Sorry to hear about that, doduobird. Maybe a stronger password this time onwards, eh? :PThanks for answering, btw.

Thanks for the replies, Xenophobia & HirunMeepage. As for ali1234 & Reeco9, I think both of you are referring to the smoky, right? Yep, it does look like WoT-ish to me too. And finally, thanks Irontank1v for pointing out the proper section of the fora for a question of this type: truth be told, I wasn't quite that sure as to whether or not this was the right place when I asked the q. myself! :P

lortmostafa, I just stumbled upon it whilst idly hovering my mouse cursor over all the tidbits in the homepahe. :)

Thanks for taking time to reply, Xenophobia. Do you know since how long this video has been there? Or if there are any more like it embedded elsewhere that you are aware of?
