What gives? I post a question asking why I cannot log in because the log-in page does not appear. Instead an "invite code" box appears. No matter how I often I refresh...clicking the Play button displays the "invite code" box. Less than 10 minutes later...whoever is administering this forum deletes my question from the forum without answering it. So you'd rather delete the thread than just answer the question? Is that how you're treating long-time players now?
  4. More than half of the Tanki updates since early 2013 have ruined the game. Development has been focused on two groups: buyers and new players. It's clear to anyone who has been playing for several years that the changes cater specifically to making the game too easy (and too expensive in either time or $)....it all started back when they began marking the drop locations for supplies. Another was Shaft's laser (what sort of imbecile puts a visible laser on a "sniper"?). Twins unnecessary self damage ruined its close quarters combat. Overdrive (and before that the stupid staggered timing of supplies) took away the ability to better control supply combos. Removing Isidas self-healing "vampirism" (another dumb idea that took away a key strength). The cost of MUs...the constant fiddling with the way MUs work....the ridiculous cost (time and crys) of speedups. Holy sht...the recent matchmaking BS is a nightmare. The notion that players now need to pay for PRO passes just to be able to pick matches. That has to be the biggest display of stupidity in recent memory. I could add hundreds of negatives to this list going back as far as 2013. There's only one reason I stick around....and it isn't for regular gameplay. ;-) I've found other ways to have a little fun. Otherwise I'd have left this trash heap years ago.

What's the deal? I press the big green play button as I've done for years now...and all I get is a box asking me for an "invite code". That's it. No log in boxes...no New Player boxes. Just an "invite code". System bug? I was under the impression that the June 6th Game was completely unrelated and not on the primary servers. Why would I need an invite code for ordinary game play? (update: of course 5 minutes later the server is now "undergoing maintenance"...so maybe it was a bug. We shall see when it's back online.

    Bugs and Glitches Reports [Closed]

Thanks for the clarification. Do you happen to know if this glitch (due to miscounting tanks as they enter and leave battle) is the same one that allows disproportionately sized teams to continue for lengthy periods of time before the short timer begins? On many occasions in recent weeks I've seen 50% of a team leave a match (leaving, for example 3 vs 10) and the timer doesn't kick in to end the match early. It's as if the system doesn't know half the players of a team have left the match.

Your questions for this week's V-LOG

The topic choices are many. I'll focus on just one - turrets. Here's a question for both the developers and Tanki's executives.... Over the past few years you've consistently ruined existing turrets and ignored player input, why? The topic 3 idiotic turret changes in no particular order: shaft's ridiculous laser: I commented on this when it was first released years ago. It killed the number one purpose of a sniper: stealth. Ask a Russian sniper if he'd be stupid enough to use a visible laser. Of course he wouldn't. isida's loss of self-healing: This killed isida's strategic role as a healer able to focus on healing other turrets rather than running around the board healing each other or chasing health kits. twins splash self-damage: One of twins strategic advantages--an ability that offset its short range and relatively crappy damage--was its ability to help push and move hulls both friendly and enemy. This was especially true on ramps where it was effective at using close-range-impact of its rounds to push, lift and kill enemy tanks to keep them from coming up. These are just 3 of the many examples where development choices ruined turrets. If players had no investment at all in the game, then it would be understandable that Tanki staff could do whatever it likes whenever it likes. However, many hundreds of thousands (if not millions) of players have invested in equipment and upgrades. They've invested thousands of hours of time to earn crystals used to purchase these items. More importantly, many invested tens, hundreds, and in some cases thousands of dollars, CASH $$, to purchase these items for the abilities they had. I didn't purchase m2 and m3 shaft, isida and twins turrets and upgrades for my accounts years ago with an expectation that Tanki would ruin them later. Had I known that would happen I would not have spent a single penny on Tanki. I spent a few hundred USD on Tanki years ago. Guess what? I have not spent a single cent, not a penny on Tanki since the day it ruined shaft with a laser. You lost a paying customer. Now I return every once in a while to play for free because Tanki doesn't deserve any further money from me. Imagine you've spent $8k of your real-world hard earned cash/crystals on a top-of-the-line AWM sniper rifle. If you're a sniper you'd be pretty excited wouldn't you? How would you feel when Accuracy International (the manufacturer of the AWM) tells you that it's going to install a visible laser you did not request, and do not like on the rifle you had already purchased? You'd be pissed off, and rightly so. You'd complain. Now imagine the company doesn't listen to you and decides to follow through with the changes anyway. You'd be even more pissed off because the company didn't listen and completely ruined the investment you made in the weapon. That is what Tanki has been doing to its players year after year. Changes such as the ones I mentioned above were a big slap in the face to players who invested time and real-world money into their favorite turrets. Yet over the past few years Tanki has repeatedly demonstrated that it absolutely does not care what players really have to say. Instead, it offers up contests, giveaways, new turrets and other distractions hoping to offset the damage of its decisions. Its one thing to apply new changes to equipment that has not yet been purchased by a player. They can decide i they want the equipment with the new changes. Its another thing entirely to apply the changes to equipment that had already been purchased in the past. Players should be given a choice of whether they wish to accept or decline new features for equipment they have already purchased. So I ask again, why have you ruined turrets in which players were heavily invested with hard earned time and money and ignored the pleas of those players?

New balance changes and other features

3+ years, multiple accounts. I have thousands of hours of experience under my belt since 2013. This update is now officially the worst I've seen in the past 3+ years. What the hell happened to the physics of the hulls? These damn things are undriveable. Wasp is chaos on wheels (I have M0 through M3 across accounts, same issue with all). Massive oversteer. Flaky turning. Constant issues with the keyboard becoming unresponsive. At times I sit with a turret that wont turn and a hull that wont turn or move. Physics of object impact and rebound is all f'd up. Fire the group of developers that worked on this update. They took handling perfection and ruined it. And for what? Obviously this wasn't an improvement.

Rank Number Eight To Use Chat?

To justify this poor decision, the single biggest reason cited by Tanki administration is that game play information is already "available in Wiki pages". It's a poor excuse. And the end result is that it punishes many thousands of players for the actions of proportionally few. Worse...it's a temporary fix. The moment trolls achieve M Sgt they'll start trolling verbally anyway. Sure their account *might* be banned. Creating a new one is free, easy and a couple clicks away. In a few days they'll be right back to the same old behaviors. The is just another poor decision forced upon the Tanki community. No vote, and no request for player opinions....especially the opinions of experienced players. As usual the overlords simply dictate the new rules. Here's the immediate impact of the decision: We can no longer provide advice to new players who need it most. Players now sit upside down, sometimes for several minutes or more during a match, with flags that teammates cannot retrieve from them. Not only do the players not know that F releases the flag....their own teammates cannot tell them. A source of frustration for the entire team. Players now sit upside down for significant portions of a match once they flip over. Not only do they not know how to self-destruct, other players cannot tell them how to do it. So they occupy a spot on a team that could be occupied by an active player. This is no different than having mults on a team. Again, this is frustrating to all members of the team. Players use dropped supplies when they don't need them, depriving their teammates of these supplies. Or, they pass supplies by when they should use them. While I've seen this in higher ranks, it happens frequently in low rank matches. We can no longer explain to these players how to effectively use supplies. Players can no longer communicate that they see an enemy flag carrier hiding, or where they are hiding with the flag. More frustration. Players can no longer communicate enemy positions or travel....this is key to effectively working as a team. More frustration. This list goes on and on. The lack of communication available now in low ranks makes a challenging game even more difficult to the point of frustration. Both for new players who cannot figure out what they're doing incorrectly, and the more experienced players who can no longer provide advice. The answer is not a Wiki. Kids read wikis like their parents read account terms & conditions....that is to say they don't read them. It's a nice thought and significant time and effort goes into creating and maintaining a Wiki...but it's simply not the solution. These kids need advice in real time while they're playing and while they're making mistakes. Experienced players are happy to provide it. But that option has been taken away. Tanki needs to find a different solution. Perhaps one account per registered email to curb the number of users with multiple accounts, or some other similar measures. I thought adding the laser to shaft was the most idiotic decision ever made by Tanki. I was wrong. Eliminating the ability for new players to communicate is the most idiotic decision ever made by Tanki.

Reserve your nickname for Tanki X!

Thanks, I will try to contact a mod. There are no other accounts linked to this email account. In fact, the only reason this Tanki account was ever linked to my personal email was due to a promotion Tanki ran way back in early 2014 or late 2013. To take advantage of the promotion players had to link an email account…it wasn’t optional. Thanks for the mod names…appreciated.
  13. jomama_tanker

Reserve your nickname for Tanki X!

That confirmation and email verification process was completed more than 18 months ago. The system still doesn’t acknowledge there is a confirmed email on file. I wouldn’t be here wasting my time if this wasn’t already the case. And my attempt to re-enter and save the email does absolutely nothing. Sure the profile page acts as if it saves my email address again, but there is no new confirmation email and the Tanki X registration still claims there’s no email on file. And before you ask: 1) yes I spelled the email address correctly…the same one I had linked to the account since 2014, and 2) there’s no new confrmation email in my spam folder or any other folder. Rather than: a) repeatedly making guesses about why the process might not be working (considering I am not the only one experiencing this issue), and b) providing the same old unhelpful generic crappy links and information to a “solution" many of us have already attempted multiple times perhaps the Tanki development teams responsible for security, access control and registration should look into it. There’s a bug in the code, perhaps more than just one. Find it and fix it.
  14. jomama_tanker

Reserve your nickname for Tanki X!

The reservation system is not working properly. I have an email linked to my account already (has been linked for more than a year now) yet when I try to reserve the nickname for Tanki X I get an error message telling me that I must link an email to the account. I doublechecked in my profile and my email is definitely still attached to my account. So…how do I reserve the name? And yes I already retyped it and saved it again according to this earlier answer (below) and it still does not see that my email is linked already.

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

I used shaft almost exclusively last year until the laser was introduced. Shortly afterward I stopped using it. At the time I was very much an expert with sniping. Today I attempted to use the shaft and I was extremely disappointed. For whatever reason, my shots in sniper mode did not seem to be hitting their targets. Has anything changed with shaft of which I should be aware? I shot the weapon thousands of times last year and I knew how to use it very well. But I swear it doesn’t seem like my shots are landing where I am aiming. I see small puffs of dirt off center but often cannot tell if that’s supposed to be my shot, or another player’s. Very weird. From what I have been reading it sounds like some mouse control update may have affected the turret in unexpected ways. I use the keyboard and I have never seen the turret so inaccurate. I also recall that there was some random movement in the barrel…which I was accustomed to. Now it seems to be gone. Did they do away with it?

Annoying habit of moderators to close topics “just because"

I can understand if a moderator chooses to close a topic that contains offensive language or a prohibited subject matter. That just good business sense. However, moderators close topics simply because they wish to end member discussion. Oftentimes they’ll provide a quick response and immediately close the thread which is exactly what happened in a thread I created recently about kits. I cannot help but wonder about the moderator selection process, their qualifications to moderate a forum for a service provider, and the chain of command overseeing their actions. No doubt this topic too will be closed shortly. Not because it contains offensive language, or because it has no value, but because some Tanki moderator simply decides to close it - end of discussion. I am now in the process of writing to both the company CEO Alexandr Vladimirovich Karpovich and CTO Anton Alekseevich Volkov regarding how this forum is managed. Shameful really. If a company is going to offer a forum to its members, then it must be prepared to accept discussion of all types, positive, negative and neutral. Moderators should never be allowed to close topics unless the topics explicitly violate the terms and conditions of the forum. It’ll be interesting to see if Mr. Karpovich and Mr. Volkov respond to my email.

    Kits getting worse lately?

I picked up some pretty amazing kits several months back. A great m3 rail/hornet/paint combo and a prodigi/rustle/spark paint kit. Two of the best purchases I’ve made in the game. But these past few months the kits have been horrible. Most of them offer items I already have in whole or in part which I imagine would be pretty common at my current rank. Anyone else feeling like the kit quality has gone downhill since the middle of last year?
  18. RustyNail I knew we’d agree on something. Without a doubt in my mind Alternativa is slowing squeezing its players for more. Whether its money from those who buy crystals or time from those who earn crystals, the “prices” in the game are rising as if Alternativa is selling actual physical goods. We can call it greedy and despicable. Alternativa would likely call it “sound business practices". My post that you referred to is aimed squarely at that exact point. The game is becoming more expensive for everyone who plays. I also agree that two types of player have a huge advantage in the game: those who invest hundreds upon hundreds of hours playing and earning crystals (I call them the high earners) and those who buy crystals at any rank or level of experience. There are some who happen to be high earners who also buy too. In any case, they are considerably better off as far as the equipment, paint and supplies they can afford. And this does, without a doubt, frustrate the players who don’t play enough to earn many crystals, and don’t buy any. An average m3 kit costs well over $100 USD of real cash even on sale. That’s simply ridiculous. My primary advice would be for non-buyers to enjoy playing low rank matches. Once their account reaches Staff Sergeant, create a new one. Yes, this is against Tanki’s official rules (for no reason that the company could ever logically defend). However, Alternativa is well aware that as players rank, the need for crystals grows to support better equipment, paints and supplies. To put it differently, if players don’t invest more time or money at high ranks they’ll find themselves frustrated so there’s pressure to play/buy more. Whereas, below Staff Sergeant there are very few buyers and many of the players are less experienced (though we know that some very high ranking players have multiple “noob” accounts for fun). Low rank matches can be significantly more fun than high rank matches due to the absence of disproportionate supplies and equipment. For those who choose to use only one account, I recommend making friends and finding matches where they can play as a group with certain agreements about what the teams will be allowed to use. Or finding matches in which they are close to the top of the range of ranks playing the match. Otherwise, they’ll have a very very difficult time finding matches that do not have multiple players with a considerable advantage. If Alternativa was smart it would lower the prices of crystals and equipment across the board just enough to increase sales volume and its overall profits. Yes it would mean more players playing with insane equipment and supplies. However, it would also provide increased profits from which the company could enhance the game. If suddenly everyone has m2s and m3s….ok, introduce m4s, new types of supplies, etc. In any case, I think we actually agree on some points, though not at first glance. On to the battlefield…and good luck!

    Can't stop, Won't stop

Greek philosopher Epictetus is credited with saying “We have two ears and one mouth so that we can listen twice as much as we speak.” He understood that we learn much more from listening than we do from talking. Your heart is in the right place. Clearly you’re a young person who simply wishes everyone would be respectful, polite and professional at all times in all contexts. Here’s what you need to understand about the life ahead of you: 99.999% of the time you’re not going to change the way other people think, nor what they believe, nor how they behave. This applies to every facet of life from careers, finance, and relationships to religion, education, social etiquette and more. Naturally, it applies to conduct here on the Tanki Forum as well. Don’t allow yourself to become disappointed when others do not share your point of view. And don’t attempt to force your point of you upon them with the expectation that others wil simply accept it. There’s no harm in debating different perspectives. Just don’t expect that you’re going to “win”. Discussion isn’t about winning, it’s about sharing perspectives, learning and growing. Listen to what they say not how they say it. Learn how to decipher and distill the comments. Yes, opinions may often be presented in a rude, crude and obnoxious manner by someone who lacks social etiquette, skills and tact. They may have poor grammar and spelling. Your language may not be their primary language. If you find yourself focusing on the delivery (how they say it) rather than the message (what they say), then you’re not really listening, are you? At that point you’ll find that you’re dismissive simply because you don’t like the way they speak/behave — even if they have valid points. Few people cope well with difficult conversations and difficult topics. They’re defensive, dismissive and often resort to personal attacks known as argumentum ad hominem, meaning they respond by attacking a person's character rather than their argument. If during a conversation with you someone is behaving in a rude and obnoxious manner, you can always let them know that you find it rude and discourteous. And if they continue to be rude simply choose to dismiss yourself from the conversation. Or do as I have done for many years and choose to filter out the noise and listen to the heart of their message. Sometimes, nestled between the snide remarks is some genuinely useful insight. Could they have chosen a more polite way to say it? Perhaps. Is their opinion any less valuable because they were rude about it? No. Above all else never allow yourself to become a hypocrite. If you desire politeness, respect, courtesy and civility, then always make sure you are polite, respectful, courteous and civil regardless how others around you conduct themselves. The moment you allow yourself to behave in the very same manner that you claim to dislike, you’ve become a hypocrite. When you find yourself leaning toward hypocrisy, or worse if you realize you’ve dishonored your own values, own up to it, apologize and vow to yourself to do you best to uphold the values you hold so dear. I wish you all the best. See you on the battlefield.
  20. I am well aware of the age range of Tanki. I address younger players in multiple posts. At no point in any of my posts have I suggested that non-buyers should feel awkward for not contributing financially to the game. If they wish to play for free, that is their decision. If they cannot contribute financially, there’s no reason at all to be ashamed of it. However, non-buyers who demean and denigrate others for “buying” shoud be ashamed of themselves. That’s an ignorant and entitled attitude. No doubt Felony_1 posted the original question that started this discussion because he has heard/seen/read the rude, disrespectful, frequently adolescent comments of those who do not like “buyers”. I believe you fail to understand the difference between thriving and surviving. Tanki might THRIVE with the help of non-buyers (more players is certainly a more attractive proposition), but it is ALIVE and SURVIVES because buyers spend actual cash that can be used to cover the very real expenses incurred by Alternativa. How long do you believe the company would survive without paying its bills? How many developers, designers and other do you believe would stick around and work for free? Which one of them will finance the enormous cost of the IT infrastructure out of their own pockets? Buyers don’t require anyone else to play. If non-buyers disappeared tomorrow they’d be missed but that’s about the extent of it. Since the dawn of video games, players have had to pay to play. First it was $0.01 per game to play pinball as early as the 1930s. By 1971 it was $0.25 per game at the arcade and video games debuted. By the early 80s players were already paying more than $50 for individual games. The emergence of MMOs, MUDs and now free apps with in-game purchases attracted buyers and non-buyers alike. No cost to get started with the option to buy - very attractive with no risk. The first large scale MMOs and MUDs were hosted on networks (PLATO, ARPAnet) at educational institutions because 1) there was not public Internet and 2) they could use the schools’ IT resources for free. The “developers” were students who wrote the code and supported it for fun, and often played th games themselves. One could say that MIT students were paying to attend the University so they were paying, indirectly, to support the ARPAnet that hosted these “free” games. That was fine and dandy for a while. When MMOs and MUDs went commercial, they couldn’t piggyback off of a school network for free. Nor were these new companies run by a bunch of engineering students working for free for the fun of it. They had to find ways to fund their own IT infrastructures and pay the development teams. That meant MMOs had to adopt real world business models and begin charging players to play the game. Zoom ahead to today. The current business model is a hybrid that allows players to pay and/or to play for free. It’s a business model that uses the income from players who pay to subsidize the game for everyone else in lieu of or in addition to relying on advertising revenue. The presence of non-buyers no doubt helps the community as a whole thrive. But make no mistake Mr. “Salesman”, Tanki and other MMOs are alive today because of buyers. What you wish to portray as shallow or arrogant is simply factual and the way the real world works. If Alternativa could pay its bills with Monopoly money, then I might otherwise have agreed with you. And no, we do not have to thank non-buyers for anything. Likewise, buyers do not expect others to thank them for helping to pay the bills that keep Tanki alive. We’re all here to have fun. [bTW, I recognize your handle as one of the less-than-polite individuals I’ve encounted in the game. See you on the battlefield Rusty.]
  21. I don’t completely disagree with you. I believe we share similar perspectives. The game does benefit with more players. We just need to always keep in mind that there are two types of investments in Tanki, and each does come with a “cost”. When a player buys crystals using real-world income, there’s an immediate cost in terms of whatever currency they use. Right now without a double crystal card 350k crystals costs about $105 USD. In economic terms there’s also an "opportunity cost” meaning every player faces a decision about how best to spend his/her money. They can spend it on Tanki crystals. However, they could also spend it on rent, gas, clothing or any of a number of other alternatives. So the decision to buy Tanki crystals has a very real world cost associated with it. When a player earns crystals, there’s still an opportunity cost. That is to say, the “cost” is the value of a player’s time. Should s/he spend it on doing homework, studying more for an exam, fixing a car, taking a walk, working for additional income, relaxing on the beach, etc….or playing Tanki. So, in a sense, we’re all “buyers”. One group buys crystals with time that could have otherwise been spent on other activities (including earning money), and the other group buys crystals with cash. Young people who haven’t been exposed to subjects such as economics generally aren’t intuitively aware that their time has value. And that the time they invest playing Tanki does make them a “buyer” in an economic sense. Their currency is time rather than cash. In my case, I buy crystals with cash because the opportunity cost of buying crystals with my time is too great.
  22. By the way, I can tell you that buying crystals makes me think twice about investments in new garage items because there’s an immediate real world cost. A typical m3 kit costs more than $100 USD in crystals. If I am going to shell out $100 for a kit it had better be damn good. When developers “rebalance" the game it pisses me off because oftentimes they’re removing or reducing functionality that players paid for previously. It’s a bit like an automobile manufacturer telling you one year after you purchased your car that they’re going to reduce the horsepower from 300 to 250 and replace the leather seats with cloth to “rebalance” your car. How nice of them. I didn’t pay for 250 horsepower and cloth seats I paid for 300 horsepower and leather. Alternativa clearly doesn’t understand how incredibly insulting that is to players who either bought or earned the crystals used to buy the weapons. The reduction in impact of the Rail, and the addition of the laser to the shaft have caused me to seriously regret buying and upgrading those weapons. I didn’t pay for a shaft with a laser, let alone one that I cannot turn off. It was like flushing about $100 down a toilet because I no longer use the shaft after months of using it almost exclusively. I should mention that I buy crystals because earning them is much too costly for someone like myself. If I had to earn the same number of crystals the cost would significantly higher due to the opportunity cost of playing for crystals versus earning additional income. If I could earn, say, 2500k in crystals per hour (which is not easy) a decent m3 kit would take 100 hours of game play to earn. I generate around $100/hr on average from my business. I cannot afford to play 100 hours just to earn those crystals. Such a kit would cost me $10,000 in lost income. So, for me, buying makes more sense than earning and I get to use my limited “free” time playing with better equipment. For a kid with no income stream, earning might make more sense than buying
  23. Never feel ashamed of buying crystals. Never. I can understand DidYouKnowThat’s sentiment but I believe s/he is incorrect. Buyers and only buyers are the reason why Tanki and other MMOs are alive today. Those who do not buy do not contribute to the pool of financial resources from which MMOs are able to operate. And as far as I am aware, there is no Tanki-related ad revenue resource for Alternativa. I’ve never seen an ad in the game, have you? There would certainly be fewer players if it was only 100% pay-for-play. And growth would be slower and more organic, but Tanki would remain alive and well. Alternativa’s ultimate goal as a company (and this is true of every company in the industry) is to create amazing games that turn players into buyers and drive revenue. Increased revenue means more resources to develop, support, maintain and improve the game - and pay themselves for doing all this great work. They do that via the same technique used by thousands of other social sites and games: they offer the game for free so players can see if they enjoy it. It’s called “try before you buy”. And they hope that if players enjoy it enough, some percentage might actually begin to purchase crystals to enhance their game playing experience. So if non-buyers went away Tanki would remain alive and well, though it would likely grow much more slowly (some people are more hesitant to try a new game if there’s an initial out-of-pocket cost). In contrast, if buyers went away Alternativa would be forced to quickly find alternative revenue streams to support its Tanki overhead, including such things as ad revenue (possibly showing ads between matches, etc). If it failed to find other ways to generate income to allow non-buyers to continue to play, the company would have no choice but to halt Tanki support and development (or continue to support it for free). The Internet is littered with thousands of “dead” games no longer supported because the developers never figured out a way to generate sufficient revenue and spport their efforts. Services such as Facebook are available for free because a) they generate most of their income from advertising and b ) they generate income from selling user data. Many millions of dollars of revenue. If Facebook couldn’t generate ad revenue or user data revenue, it would go the way of the dinosaurs — extinct. Making a service available for free in the early stages helps the service to grow quickly, but it’s not a sustainable long-term business model. Why? Because FREE attracts new users easily -- there’s no monetary risk involved, however it provides no financial resources with which to sustain operation. It’s up to the service providers to then figure out a way to monetize what they’ve built (i.e. to make money from it). Many application services eventually rely on ad revenue. Others rely on subscription revenue. Still others rely on in-app purchases. Tanki relies on in-app purchases to survive. I happily support that goal (unless they continue to rebelance the game and destroy my investments, then I’ll simply stop playing altogether). Anyone commenting otherwise (or whining about “buyers”) likely has little to no business experience. Many of the kids and young people who play Tanki very likely do not understand basic business CAPEX and OPEX, balance sheets, etc. They don’t understand what it takes to run a business. They’re not accustomed to being responsible for overhead costs. They’re used to their parents paying for everything, so it’ not a stretch of the imagination to say that they do not comprehend that FREE comes at a cost….usually to someone other than themselves. So be proud of supporting Tanki’s ongoing development and support.
  24. I haven’t ignored your comments. I simply don’t find them worthy of discussion. Have you ever run a business? I have. Have you ever been responsible for developing and implementing pricing models to support a business? I have. Have you ever been responsible for a business’s P&L? I have, for many years. I also happen to enjoy sneaking a round of Tanki in here and there, especially with my kids. Folks, look….I wrote a simple rant. I’m not going to debate the behavioral economics with you ad naseum. Believe what you like. I’m going to recommend a couple books by Dan Ariely that you might enjoy: http://www.amazon.com/Predictably-Irrational-Revised-Expanded-Edition/dp/0061353248 http://www.amazon.com/The-Upside-Irrationality-Unexpected-Benefits-ebook/dp/B003JBHVZY See you all on the battlefield. Cheers
  25. I already “thank" Tanki enough by supporting it financially. I’m a buyer who has made significant investments into the game. Or to put it differently, I am not one of the many freeloaders who play the game for free, then have the audacity to complain about “buyers”. Without the financial support of buyers, Tanki would cease to exist and there would be no game for others to freeload. Developers, documentation writers, graphic artists, marketing, administration and the many dozens of other adults who make Tanki possible aren’t going to work for free, nor should we expect them to. However, it doesn’t justify the pricing strategies currently in use. I’ve run my own successful business for the past 13 years. I support a family (with two kids who also got me into playing Tanki) and still I find time to enjoy this game whenever I am able. So when I complain about something like this, it’s because there’s a real world cost associated with it. I’ve paid my dues…have you?
