Join the experiment with crystal drops

Apparently there is such a thing as a miracle. Tanki development has actually listened to player feedback. Testing and test groups are fine for experimentation, but until an update is experienced by the larger Tanki community it is impossible to tell if it makes sense. In this case, the latest update definitely did not make sense if one believes the massive amount of negative feedback. It might be wiser to release updates with a probationary period of a couple days after which changes may be rolled back if players overwhelmingly dislike them. It's nice to know that Tanki actually listened for once....miraculous. However, the predictable crystal drop was just one issue. Predictable drops need to be eliminated completely. It's ******ed and ruins game play. In the same way that Tanki enables chat after two ranks, it should disable predictable drops. That way new tankers can get the hang of it for a rank or two. After that it is absolutely unnecessary and counterproductive.

    Predictable Drops are now live!

Playing 2042 I watched a teammate who was chasing the flag carrier stop, turn around and collect a crys box while the opponent capped the flag. No doubt this thread will be filled with thousands such examples unless the Dev team locks the thread to prevent further negative feedback. I think the general consensus is that this update SUCKS BIG TIME. Quite possibly the worst update since I began playing in March. And people wonder why I now hardly ever play my main accounts. What's the point? The gameplay went downhill instantly with this update. I'd rather just play my noob accounts and go on a tank killing spree....no flags, no control points, just blowing crap up.

    Predictable Drops are now live!

I almost entirely quit playing my main accounts. I rarely log in to play higher rank games now...it's pointless. Players have lost focus. These days I create noob accounts and just play raw m0 battles. Tanki developers have taken most of the fun and challenge out of higher level achievements and reward. So I say, why bother? I also quit investing any more money in the game. It's simply not worth it any more. Now I'll log in to one of my noob accounts and have some real fun.

    Predictable Drops are now live!

Great for new players to speed up the learning curve, perhaps, but predictable drop markers seem goofy for experienced players. Part of the fun is learning where the drops take place, and getting the timing right. Predictabiity takes all the fun out of it. Another thumbs down update, especially when much more useful enhancements (improved targeting with turrets) could be developed instead. Btw, love the snapshot images shown a bit earlier in the thread. Now THAT was predictable. A bunch of idiots (excuse me, I mean players) either camping at drop locations knowing the exact timing of the next drop, or fighting for drops rather than paying attention to the overall game. In summary...THIS UPDATE IS A FREAKIN DISASTER. Get rid of it.

New visual effects for Railgun and Isida

While I appreciate the effort on the visuals, the major ongoing issue with both the railgun and isida is targeting. There is nothing worse or more frustrating, especially on a map with many players, than the virtually uncontrollable targeting of these two weapons. Rather than let the player choose the target tank, the system selects it. And in my experience more than half the time the system gets it dead wrong. This is especially true when several friendly and enemy tanks are clustered in a small area. I've lost count of how many times my isida began healing a friendly while trying to take out the adjacent enemy in a cluster, or vice versa. The closer the proximity of the tanks in a cluster, the more difficult (virtually impossible) it is to target the one I have in mind. Sure we can play around with the hull and turret angles in an attempt to compensate and redirect the aim, but in the heat of battle it's a PITA, and in many cases it can mean the difference between victory and defeat. Devs...the visuals are fantastic...excellent work...but if you really want to improve game play dramatically let's put some effort into user selected targeting. And if it makes these two weapons disproportionately powerful, well, figure out what you need to to do rebalance the turrets.

Revision in the number of Active Servers

If I had to guess, the lag is less a server side issue and more a client-side issue. I can tell you with 100% certainty that I experience performance differences (esp. severe lag) under specific circumstances including problematic Internet connections, slow connections, too many apps running on the client hardware, and even a low battery charge (on my laptop). All of those issues can cause my fps to drop to well below 10. As for fewer servers....it depends on whether we're talking about physical and/or virtual servers and the hardware specifics. Fewer servers does not always equal decreased performance.

Revision in the number of Active Servers

Does each server in the list correspond to a physical server or a virtual server? I'm guessing that these are virtual servers and you're running multiple instances on a relatively small number of physical servers. If your goal is to ensure that each server is populated with an optimum number of players, why not just invoke new server instances as player count increases and rebalance the loads? Better yet, as a long term solution why not completely do away with the notion of a "server". That's an old outdated concept. The technology already exists for you to aggregate all gameplay into a single pool and distribute the loads across multiple servers. There's no need to expose any of that messiness to the players. It can all be managed transparently behind the scenes. As players all we would see is a giant list of maps/games to join. Based on the map/game we select your system connects us to the appropriate servers. If we select another game, we're rerouted to whichever server is handling the load for that particular game. If you want to invest in a worthwhile enhancement...work on the one above. As far as RU vs DE vs EN servers, the reality is that Tanki doesn't prohibit crossover so the decision to pretend that there is a distinction is pointless. Any player of any language can play on any server already. There are no restrictions (and shouldn't be any). In that context, a single pool of Tanki games intelligently load distributed across physical servers makes even more sense.

    Changes in Product Kits

Crappy current kits being replaced by crappy new kits. I'd rather buy individual components during sales. Rather than predetermined kits players should have the ability to buy any hull+turret+paint combination (must buy all three together) to get a kit discount. For example, I want to get an m3 hornet/isida with a decent paint to go with it. Until that happens I'm not spending any more $$ on tanki.

    lags

I'm running 2.4GHz and 8GB RAM on a 2012 Macbook. Had almost no lag issues prior to the last major update. On occasion the problem would be resolved within minutes. Now, since a couple days ago I cannot play the game. It's totally unusable with the current lag. I've tried everything and nothing fixes it. The developers screwed something up big time.

Ridiculous lag times since the last major update

I have way too much invested in this damn game to have problems like this the past couple of days. Ever since the recent major update I have had nothing but major lag. FPS and ping are horrible. There's a solid 6 second lag between the time I press a key and the time I see the tank react. I have tried multiple servers, different times of day, different maps, different viewer sizes, different browsers (chome, ff, ie, safari), different high speed networks in different locations and it does not matter. The game is currently UNUSABLE. I hope it's fixed soon.

    Five years of TO!

Discounts are great, but what good is a discount if the hull/turret/package isn't available to a player? Why not make the equipment available to anyone who wants it? Or at least to a range of ranks that might not ordinarily have access to it? I'd like to buy an m3 package, turret or hull but only m2 paints and packages are currently available to me. I'm not going to spend any more $$ on micro upgrades....they're simply not worth it. MUs don't enhance my Tanki experience as much as a mX upgrade.
  12. jomama_tanker

    Choose the discount!

Isida...but whichever turret you offer for sale I hope you will not put a rank restriction on it. If someone wants m2 or m3 and has enough crystals but not the usual rank needed to buy it (without turret package) then let them buy it.

Tanki Online on Unity: Questions and Answers

Can't wait to see weather conditions and dusk/evening settings for those of us with accelerated hardware. Even if it's 2-3 years away that would be ridiculously awesome.

Link your account to your email

My email has been linked since I started. When are the crystals being distributed? I've accessed to today but I haven't received anything yet.

    50% discount on prepaid cards

If you're from the States, you can pretty much forget this sale. These prepaid cards are virtually impossible to find locally. Some of these cards are not available in the U.S., and the only one that claims to have a presence in the U.S., the "PaySafe Card", is not available from any of the local vendors listed as resellers on their website. I called 5 of them and they had never even heard of the company. So, this is not a sale for U.S. Tanki players.

    50% discount on prepaid cards

The quantities are too small. When I looked at what was available I couldn't find anything larger than 10k crystals. I prefer the 20-25% any payment method deal that was available several weeks ago. Then we can buy as much as we need.

Turrets and Hulls of the Future Tanki

lol....I snuck in a game at lunch at work. Must work on my addiction

Turrets and Hulls of the Future Tanki

To all the people commenting about the game possibly becoming childish....we're driving tiny pretend tanks on a pretend battlefield, destroying each other with pretend weapons. I'm not too concerned about childishness. In fact, my greatest concern isn't turret and hull updates. It's the future of a game based on Flash. Tanki is the best, most advanced use of Flash I've ever seen. But Adobe's support of Flash for mobile devices, as well as its wavering commitment to Flash since the introduction of HTML5, concerns me. How much time should I invest in the game if it loses Flash platform updates?

    lost mines and server updates

Ahhhhhh ok, so always the same time daily. Well that will be good to know. I've lost many mines to updates. Thanks for the information. I appreciate it.

    lost mines and server updates

I have lost at least 4 dozen mines over the past couple of weeks because of "server updates" that completely stop gameplay. Whatever mines I have laid are not recoverable. That is ridiculous and expensive. What is up with that? There's no way for me to know when a server update will occur. If at least there was a 30 minute warning or something like that I wouldn't lay all these mines just to lose them I love the game, but we need a solution for that. The current implementation is unacceptable. Kind regards, J_T

Tanki Online: From Sketches to Game Objects

Ridiculously well executed game. I played Duke Nuke'm many years ago and Tanki is light years ahead of those days. The maps are great and getting better every month. The most important thing is the overall game experience. I tried WoT and WoW and while they're both very well done, the gameplay isn't nearly as exciting as what I experience in Tanki. Plus, Tanki is Mac friendly without having to install a virtual machine. That alone is a huge bonus for me. I played for free with M0 equipment right up to rank WO2. Decided I need to start supporting the developers, so I bought a crystal deal, upgraded to M1s and couldn't be happier. Keep up the great work!

March 20 - Disabling team kick

Glad to see hear there will at least be a replacement. But whatever it is, it'll need to be effective and enforceable or it'll be pointless. In one recent game a fairly high ranked tanker spent the majority of his time pushing me and other teammates off the upper ledge on Silence CTF as we snipe from above. Unprovoked, he apparently thought it would be funny. When asked to stop and focus on the game his response was to deliberately push whenever he had the opportunity. I understand that all age groups, levels of skill and a varieties of attitude are represented on Tanki, but if administrators allow it to turn into a place where disrespectful, rude, ignorant players are allowed to ruin the experience for everyone else I have no doubt that'll affect membership. [EDIT] And as Cicatrix pointed out below this applies to both the players abusing the reporting system as well as those disrupting games with their behavior [/EDIT] Once a site has that reputation it's very rare for it to recover. Looking forward to reading about the replacement system.
