    Let's Discuss Shaft!

Guys do you think there will be a bigger sale when Tanki celebrates its birthday? Or should I buy the M2 now while I still can?

Looks like TKP got his English messed up as well. Great job Loackie! Either that or he's trying to get proficient in destroying English:P

Joining the enemy team because your team is being beaten up? That's something I wouldn't dare think about. I know it's a problem with a bunch of teammates who don't cooperate, but I'd rather go down fighting than betray the few of my teammates who are actually putting up a fight

So................. 1 - The agility of the turret is lost 2 - The ability to look at the scoreboard while in sniping mode is gone as well 3 - The turret keeps rotating occasionally (sometimes a lot) Anything more to add?

Oh yeah, and I can no longer look at the scoreboard while I'm in sniping mode, which just plain stinks. It's been a habit doing that and many times I've mistakenly fired and wasted my shots.

Camping is pretty stupid in a way. Many players, even some at our ranks, still noobishly stick in the same spot thinking they will get away with what they do. I faced a camper at Rio who was using foliage to mask himself. Good thinking but he kept using the same spot and he got predictable enough to be shot by me most of the time since I could tell where he was. Camping isn't wrong, but players have to know how and when to do so. Big, medium or small, a sniper has to know how to manipulate the maps accordingly. It's okay to stay in the same region of the map specially if you're defending or covering your team, but not constantly in the exact same spot and just shifting your tank back and forth, which is boring for anyone except little kids and has more chances of getting you killed (note that by region I'm saying that there are more sniping spots than just one within a particular area and that goes for nearly all maps). Was playing on the Highways map today on a lower ranked account and was facing lots of Mammoth Shafters. I'm guessing these people take advantage of Mammoth M1's low price just to snipe their way around and do nothing else. One of them was lucky he was using a Mammoth or I wouldn't have spared him from getting the highest score out there. He probably would've had a much lower score if he had a lighter hull because of the way I was harassing him :P

I don't what to say about this hacker

Here is the hacker's description Name: o-mega Hull: Viking Turret: Shaft This guy was using a series of cheats on the map and it ruined the game completely. What's crazy is the way he was killing us all, including killing some of us on top while he's right below us. Here's a video link. I stayed around him for most of the time to show how he hacks his way around. He also a used a fly hack which I didn't record because he only did that when the game just started. delete Thanks

I'm not sure about using mouse controls. I may try them out though, but something tells me the keyboard is more traditional and professional. Not implying mouse users are noobs, no way I would say that. But you never know, I may change my mind about using a mouse. But for now, I'll wait for the fix, only then I'll get back in the game. I could use another turret like Freeze or Isida in the meantime but that just keeps me on the extreme defensive which is generally boring unless I'm really needed with those turrets out there.

What has happened to the Shaft controls???? I was playing Tanki for the first time after mouse controls have been implemented and I cannot use the keyboard buttons properly. Sometimes my turret continues rotating without me pressing a button. In other cases, I go into sniping mode and the turret points downwards or upwards automatically against my will. I just messed up one game because of that. Anyone facing this? So not cool!>:(

Not planning on getting Winter for now, and probably even at Lt. Col. And you speak my thoughts to the point in that comment not just because of why I use it but also because I've been eyeing Winter as well:) Dirty is pretty good for camo, and I'm planning on sticking to it for a very long time, since my battles are mostly against Shafts. While Digital also helps you blend in, it reduces your tanks protection from Shaft if you're a former Dirty user.

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

Haha yeah you're right brother, but in the end I've mostly concentrated on getting enemy Shafters out of the way, and Dirty has saved me quite a few times from getting one shotted by an m2 shaft. I find railguns slightly more easier to deal with, although there's scores of them.

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

Well, not really. If you didn't look at it that way, that's not what I meant. First of all, I'm terribly against offending one's family (I'd go as far as knocking someones teeth out if I didn't know them and they did that sort of thing). And second, I never really referred to every Rico, Firebird, Twins and Hammer player as a noob. I've seen good players using those turrets well and I've also seen more players using them wrong (although Rico is an exception to that statement) Oh, and yes, I do actually appreciate how Ricochet works it's way through in a battle as times. I've never used that turret in a long time, but it's a very annoying an interesting turret that can have it's way if it wishes. No turret can be considered a noob turret. You can have noobs but not noob turrets in this game. And finally, if you do like, you could go ahead and criticise the last part of my comment. I don't mind, really. In the end it only clears up any misunderstanding, if any:)

M1 may be cheap, but similar to what Stinger mentioned, it's very hard to stick to the same turret as you move to higher ranks. At my rank of Major (and even as Captain), I'm dealing with M2 shafts that can put an end to me in one go. In just some cases, I manage to escape, but with very little health left, all thanks to the Dirty paint I use. The only thing that stops me from getting an M2 shaft is the wait for a good sale. Till then, I have to keep up against the other Shafts that I compete against. In the end, I still have make sure my team is capable of holding their base and defending well, while also making sure any enemy Shafter who disturbs them must get rid of me first and foremost. That is what Shaft is meant for - to divert attention away from teammates and send the enemy running for cover, or get the enemy to see you as a potential threat that must be taken out first Medium and heavy hulls are harder and more interesting targets. In such cases an M1 isn't enough (unless with double power), so you have to find a way to make them waste their shot at you. Noobs always exist wherever you are. With short range turrets, you see them with Hammer and Firebird. With mid range, they normally use Rico or Twins. Shaft isn't the only turret they use, it's just that a noob is more noticed when he uses a Shaft because of it's damage dealing aspect.

How does a turret hate someone? Hating a turret makes sense but the other way round??

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

I guess Shaft has partially lost one aspect that makes it worth being called a sniper turret in that case
  19. Kid95

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

In that sense, you're totally right. But then again, a sniper has to adapt to his situation, irrespective of how bad it is as well, right? Sad how freedom of speech is so disrespected wherever you are, and that too when you haven't gone too far with your words and someone wants to silence you. Disgusting!

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

I do agree with shaft being so easy to aim now with no more shaking, which stinks in a way, but I do favour the laser because it sort of gives us newer ways of adapting to the game, which I find is a good thing

So I've been rather dormant at the forums since I'm pretty busy now and I decided to check out the shaft discussion, and it keeps getting interesting I must say. And then I see this Athena, that's the spirit! Good way of handling such immaturity.

Actually I meant those moments when you and the enemy tank are moving round in circles like some yin-yang thingee and shooting at each other, and changing direction, thus causing a likely mistake from the shooter. Everything works well when you know the opposing turret as well as your internet connection:D

You know, this part of your post sounds so villainous from one perspective(I don't know how I felt that), and "valentine like" from another To your remaining part of your post which hasn't been included in the quote, I do know quite a lot of you now, but I've noticed the way I've used shaft has not affected my abilities with other turrets that badly, because I try using it like any other turret at times. By the way, like you with your first account, I also use freeze as a secondary, but with hornet as usual and mainly for defense when my team can't keep the flag from being stolen

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

Don't forget point blank face offs with railguns and shafts while still in motion. One missed shot can be a bad mistake. Had one with dark.shado while going 1vs1 2 days back. I think he still took me out with his hunter if I remember right, although it took pretty long and it seemed like I had my chance being a hornet. Awesome 30 minutes it was!

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

Heavy hulls being the best? When they move so damn slow? Naaaaah. I'm all for maneuverability and being quick, not being a sitting duck. Hornet suits my playing style but I feel Hunter deserves that first place
