Interview on Love with GoldRock and Night-Sisters

For this interview, I got inspired by one of the world's most interesting topics, love. I answered the questions I asked GoldRock and Night-Sisters myself too :P First of all, could you introduce yourself, please? GoldRock: Hi, I'm GoldRock- a 17-year-old Brit guy who's been playing this game for nearly 5 years now. You'd probably know me best for being a long-time Reporter, and now an Administrator of the EN Newspaper. Over the course of my Tanki career, I've had a few other roles too - ranging from eSports Commentator to Wiki editing- but I won't bore you by going into too much detail about that xD Basically, I've been around for a while, and it's the wonderful Tanki community that continues to keep me here! Night-Sisters: Hi XD, I am Night-Sisters, random nug Tanker and Reporter. Justsomeonelol: Hi, I am Mikaela, I've been playing tanki for about 2 years now. (And I am still Second Lieutenant, happy nooblife.) My hobbies are singing, drawing and writing and I play tennis :) . How would you define love? GoldRock: Hm, I guess I would define love as strong emotional attachment for someone or something, involving a certain level of commitment... I'd also argue it develops over time and is often based on instinct rather than cold logic. Once that bond is established, it can be very difficult to reverse or remove it. It's quite possibly the strongest emotion one can feel, and can lead to both great happiness and pain. Night-Sisters: Straight to the point, hh. I would define love as putting the cares, wishes, wants and needs of another person/people before your own. Justsomeonelol: Well, love exists in many ways. You could love your family, be in love with someone or love your (best)friends. Love is missing each other when you haven't seen each other for a while. Caring about each other, wanting to spend the rest of your lives with each other. And most of all, sharing and trusting each other. Are you pro or against homosexuals, lesbians and transgenders? GoldRock: Ooh... When it comes to non-heterosexual people, I'm definitely supportive of their right to love and be loved. I don't personally see religious and cultural traditions as good enough reasons to hold prejudice against such people, and I think one can appreciate the value of tradition while also moving forward and accepting the differences in other people. Transgender people, meanwhile, simply find it difficult to identify with a gender, often due to biological reasons. Sure, it's unusual, but I'm not sure their differences make them 'wrong' in any way! But whatever you think about 'right and wrong' on this issue, we should all agree that people have a right to be who they are. We should react with understanding and love rather than prejudice and hatred. Compassion is always the way forward. Night-Sisters: I cannot say that I think it's right. However, these individuals are people with hopes and dreams, and I can disagree quite strongly with their lifestyle choices, yet still evince the respect and compassion that is due to any human being. Justsomeonelol: Pro, because there isn't really a difference between straight, gay, lesbian or transsexual people. Some people think it's weird to be "different", to love someone from the same gender, or being born in the wrong body. But who are we to judge what's normal and what's odd? I don't think everyone should be pro homosexuals, lesbians and transsexuals, but a little understanding can go a long way. Do you believe in love at first sight? GoldRock: Many people in modern society are also becoming more open and compassionate on that issue. Anyway, as for 'love at first sight', I think that there is such thing as... Initial attraction towards someone. Love is a strong word, and I'm not sure a bond of love can be developed literally upon first sight, but I guess it's possible to 'fall for someone' in terms of being very attracted to them after just seeing them and talking to them for the first time. Night-Sisters: Hmm, interesting question. Taken literally, I believe that the phrase, "love at first sight" can usually be rewritten as 'physical attraction at first sight.' That said, I think it is possible to get to know and really start to care about another person extremely quickly. Just maybe not the first time you glance at them. Lol. Justsomeonelol: When that person is very outstanding, or when you immediately feel that connection when you see him, then yes. You might not be head over heels in love, but that feeling you should get to know him or her, that's the beginning of that love feeling. And love at first text? GoldRock: As for 'love at first text', online relationships are becoming more and more common... And yeah, I subscribe to the idea of like, being initially attracted to someone after communicating with them for the first time. It's harder in 'typed text', but it's still possible to feel that attraction, as it is for any medium of communication. I would have to admit that I pretty quickly fell for someone online myself, without ever meaning to xD And I did feel an initial attraction to that person too without knowing her that well, just because she seemed like a really nice and awesome person. So yeah, it can happen. It's just harder online! Night-Sisters: (ROFL) Nope. Justsomeonelol: If the first message is simply "hi", then no. Falling in love on the internet with someone you've never seen or spoken in real life is possible, but it takes a little longer to feel attracted to that person. But when you really have fallen in love with someone on the internet, they won't be easy to forget. Do you think animals could fall in love with each other? GoldRock: I think it depends on the animal... some animals have quite developed thought processes and emotions, whereas others don't. But for those who do, I do think that strong attachments in the animal world between relatives and mates (which could probably be called 'love') can be observed. I would argue quite a few animals can feel some basic emotions, and a strong emotional attachment to other living and non-living things is one of those. Night-Sisters: Hmm, idk... There are some animals that mate for life... And also some where the female eats the male as soon as is convenient. I would say that animals probably can't 'fall in love' the same way as humans do. Justsomeonelol: I think animals could appreciate the other creature's presence, but really be in love like humans, I don't know. For animals who are almost as smart as we are, for exemple monkeys, it might be possible for them to fall in love. For ants, I am not quite sure, but I don't think so, since they only have one queen. Or they are in love with the same ant queen... And do you think we could fall in love with robots? GoldRock: Yes. Really, love isn't confined to just living things - humans can and do fall 'in love' with non-living objects and environments, too. You can love your hometown or a special toy from your childhood, for example. As robots get more and more complex (and more like us!), I think one day it will not just be possible, but likely that we can develop feelings for robots. After all, we love a lot of things, and if robots become intelligent and sentient, we could probably love them like we love other people. Still, I would be cautious about us humans making robots so advanced that they could think for themselves and trick us into thinking they're living people! Night-Sisters: Fall in love with a machine? I don't think so. XD Justsomeonelol: When they look like us, act like us, I think you could. Maybe it looks a bit far-fetched, but people could build a bond with these robots. I've read that soldiers have those anti-tanks robots. When they've used a robot to blow up a tank, they feel sad inside and miss the robot. They also give the robots names. If it really is love like loving a human, I don't know, but I think times change and maybe, in the future, we all have a robot partner. Why not, Night-Sisters? People fall in love with each other on the internet, without seeing them in real life. Night-Sisters: Aye, but there is another person behind the screen, not just a preprogrammed bot. When dating online, you are using the computer merely as a means of communication, not falling in love with the internet. Hm, that's true. When do you get fed up with someone, like, what don't you want your partner to do, e.g. smoking? GoldRock: Haha well, I wouldn't want my partner to smoke! I guess I don't really have specific things that make me 'fed up' or upset... Although, I also wouldn't want my partner to do anything in general which could hurt herself, for example (because I'd care!). Asides from that, there's probably a 'line' that you wouldn't want people you love to cross, whether mistreating you or themselves. But I suppose I'm a little idealistic in that I think there are some bonds of love strong enough to survive pretty much all mistakes, however bad they might be. Like it or not, you'll always be related to your family, for example. And a similar bond can form with an extremely close partner. Night-Sisters: You talk, try to work it out, and compromise. Justsomeonelol: Wearing socks in sandals. Boys should know this is Not fashionable. And wear your pants how you should wear it, not halfway your butt, showing your underwear. Instead, if you want to be oh-so-sexy, wear tight pants, which show your butt very well  . And try to cover up your farts, and don't think like "let the storm rage on". And being very gentle is a must. With pulling her hair, stepping on her toes or whatever you boys do to get your crush's attention, you won't be expecting kisses. But a slap in your face. So be kind :) Isn't there anything you don't like that boys do, Night-Sisters, like talking about cars all the time, wearing socks in sandals, etc.? Night-Sisters: Hmms, difficult to say... There's no one thing that all guys do that I don't like. XD Alright, Thanks for your time :) GoldRock: Haha, sure thing - you're welcome! :) Night-Sisters: I enjoyed myself, very nice interview (thumbs up)
