Correct. With no midfielders, a team is vulnerable on attack and defense. With all midfielders, they are toast :lol:

A good midfielder shreds the defense of the attackers before they reach the defense, giving the defenders an easy job. They also are in position to stop anyone trying to escape with the flag. In a similar way, they give the attackers an easier path to the flag by attacking the defenders and whittling down their health. With a good squad of midfielders, you will essentially outnumber the defense (midfielders + attackers) and the offense (midfielders + defenders) of the other team for most of the battle.

If a midfielder is skilled and has the proper equipment for the job, he can be the most important player on the team. If he is unskilled or using a terrible combo, he is little better than a mult.
