Review [Issue 65] Rascal's List: Mischievous Map Obstacles
DarkVengeance replied to Flexoo in Newspaper Archive
Cha no way. Props have nothing on comrades that act like deranged imbeciles while playing; 1) The guy that bumps Shaft/Rail, thereby throwing off the shot 2) The noob who stops and stares dumfounded while blocking a pathway a flag-carrier is riding through 3) The noob who thinks catching supply boxes is some kind of contest between teammates and snags DD/DA while this is already activated on said persons tank 4) The guy who cuts across line of fire while assaulting enemy, where 2 Tanks would finish the job quick, but one, the guy, ends up getting blown away 5) The brain doner who pushes from behind, pushing a Tanker into enemy fire Generalised bumping bashing, cutting across line of fire so that Tanki resembles a highway of guys on speed and mescaline, that dont even need the enemy to mess things up DarkVengeance -
No issues aside from plenty lag on event days, but this is to be expected, presumably due to higher traffic. Bring back Double Battle Funds? Always makes it doubly worthwhile playing. I ride a Viking mostly, so gold hunting is limited Dark Vengeance

Thank you Maf, that has me sorted. Gonna be raining fire down with satellite view :) Dark Vengeance actually, Magnums great trajectory allows a Tanker to Camp behind a high building, say behind the Red Team base on Serpuhov or behind the Reichstag in Berlin and rain fire down on the enemies base with the barrel completely behind cover. Some props seem to be made for particularTurrets and Tanks, narrow passages on Future allow Light Hulls passage but not anything else, the 2 blocks with the top one angled 45 degrees allowing Rico to hit good camping spots so on. If there is a prop for Magnum, id say the low walls found each end in Lost Temple at the respective Red and Blue base, and similar elsewhere in the game. With a low angled shot, and the Tank sufficiently back, the turret is again obscured, but the shot rises over and hits downrange

Great Idea! With the addition of Striker and Magnum, we now have a possible 104 battle combinations, but some are classic. These go together like strawberries and cream, champagne and caviar, to rip off the Night-Sisters. I read the article after this poll closed, but add the following to the next? Rail/Hornet Thunder/Viking Hammer/Viking Vulcan/Titan Shaft/Mammoth Another point, there are many players at the higher ranks who have fought for years using one/other of the combos, perhaps such persons can post? Ill add with my own, Rico/Viking Ricochet/Viking Deadly, stable. Has issues fighting Rail/Hornet due to being outranged, Thunder on the same ground. Takes some time to kill enemy, which gets pounded about by the high Impact Force/Second before succumbing, at which point enemies comrades have usually found me and finish me off. Rico bounce underutilized from what ive seen, used maybe 1 in 10 shots? If enemy has been softened up by Thunder, Striker or Magnum and is running for cover, Rico a great finisher, takes 1-3 shots to finish the job and cover does not help. With supplies, it is the Hammer of the Gods, putting down 3-4 tanks with double power. Viking works well with those low wide window type props on Rio and elsewhere, and the small cabbage farm type cover on Kolhoz. Rico fantastic on Polygon CP as enemy often puts a Mammoth backed by Isida in tunnel, and a Thunder on the wall behind ramp. Rico bounce flies over Mammoth, hits wall rebounds and takes out Isida or Thunder hiding Dark Vengeance

From what I see, Germans and Russians learn some English and can get along talking in said language, dont know about Poles. On logging on to Tanki, top right, there is still a selector between German/English/Chinese/Brazilian/Italian/Chinese/Polish, and there is commentary on the Vlog to the effect that whilst for Battle purposes the Russian, English, Polish and German communities are merged, the chat will still be seperate. Im getting plenty Tankers messaging in Russian, and this conflicts with what is said on here. We seem to be getting different information, and need clarity? DarkVengeance

Review [Special] Chat Violations Section Closure
DarkVengeance replied to Vikingsrallentando in Newspaper Archive
ok, 1st out, you are a very chilled guy and that is cool. If you choose to turn the other cheek that is your choice. Seeking Justice is not a bad thing. There is a difference between being aggressive/passive/assertive. A person enforcing their rights is being assertive, and is not in need of psychiatric help as you imply. Younger people all need to learn to handle temper and anger, but also to enforce rights, be assertive and not tolerate abuse. Tanki is getting a reputation as a foul community on places like Steam due to the lack of reporting of flamers and trolls. I have seen trolling on here that would amount to a criminal offence in most parts of the world. During the Magnum release contest, for example, some guy got on and flamed 3 players continuously for about 4 hours, no exaggeration, saying things like 'I have your IP addresses, police will come to your houses and take away and rape your mothers and sisters and burn them on their private parts with acid,' together with a load of racial abuse. I was bummed out cos I had not screen-shotted this in time, to discover that chat reporting had been shut down. It would have made no diffence had I collected evidence. Do you mean to tell me that there is something wrong with a person, that said person is weak and lacking in intelligence if they seek justice for this? Here is another quote, 'Fiat justitia ruat caulum.' 'Let Justice be done tho the heavens fall.' Yes, there were pernicious persons who, say in high ranked battles would tell mid-rankers to leave, notwithstanding said persons being ranked to take part, and threaten reporting and bans. There is a far greater problem. Just sit and watch the chat for an hour, take part in 3 battles to see how much flaming and abuse goes on. People using the old system to victimise was by far the lessor of two evils, what the Tanki community needs is cleaning up, more reporting and bans, not less, until the flamers realise that said persons cant get away with this sort of thing. Sales on Shop paints, servers merged, new paints, and more
DarkVengeance replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
Shop paints are a great idea. Provides Tanki with a revenue stream needed to keep operating, while not conferring any battle advantage over those who do not buy, making it less pay to win. Great artwork as well. On thing, how about a paint preview button in the shop, as is in the garage? A Tanker cannot try out the shop paint in question at present, and is relegated to either waiting to see it in battle, or taking a flyer I gotta ask tho, steak paint? The only thing that makes sense is that paints are often, inspired lets say, by pop culture. Liquid Metal, Terminator 2, Harlequin, Suicide Squad, Zombie, The Walking Dead. Could this be a reference to the Lady Gaga meat dress? The server thing, ya how is that gonna work? Servers before the update were categorised by language. We gonna have guys talking German and Polish on the chat? Dark Vengeance -
[Issue 64] [Guide] The Updated Ultimate Guide to Twins
DarkVengeance replied to Blackdrakon30 in Newspaper Archive
Fair Enough. Most articles make reference to Damage per second, and just use the raw score when it comes to Impact Force, I assumed you were doing the same. You have an interesting point and a new metric it seems, one that can be added to the usual calculations. If im correct, Impact Force/Second at M3 MU20 is as follows: Insane Twin Plasma 755 ImpF/s High Rico 400 ImpF/s Mid Hammer 220 ImpF/s Smoky 220 ImpF/s Magnum Shell Detonation 180 ImpF/s Striker Direct hit 167 ImpF/s Striker Rocket Detonation 167 ImpF/s Rail 162.5 ImpF/s Thunder Direct Hit 142 ImpF/s Thunder Shell Detonation 142 ImpF/s Magnum Direct hit 140 ImpF/s Low Shaft Arcade 95 ImpF/s Shaft Sniper 76.5 ImpF/s None Fire 0 ImpF/s Freeze 0 ImpF/s Isida 0 ImpF/s Leaving out Vulcan, as it is not clear what 'Impact Force 300' is in reference to, not likely each bullet as this would have an enemy tank spinning around My apologies for saying that you may be misleading new players, the numbers bear you out Dark Vengeance -
[Issue 64] [Guide] The Updated Ultimate Guide to Twins
DarkVengeance replied to Blackdrakon30 in Newspaper Archive
High Impact Force? Impact force comes in four categories, at M3 MU 20: Insane Magnum Shell Detonation 900 A league of its own High Magnum Direct Shot 700 Shaft Sniper 650 Rail 650 Hammer 630 Mid Thunder Shell Detonation 340 Thunder Direct Shot 340 Smoky 330 Vulcan 300 Striker Rocket Detonation 300 Striker Direct Hit 300 Low Rico 200 Twin Plasma 160 None Fire 0 Freeze 0 Isida 0 As you can see, Twin Plasma have the lowest impact force available. Please do your research before posting articles that are meant to be authoritive and are likely to mislead noobs. Further, the most noteworthy point about the new Twin Plasma turret is its insanely high D.p/s. Average D.p/s is 412 at M3 MU. This calculation is not exact as there is insufficient data on Fire heating rate and damage in the Wiki to include this in the calculation. Twin Plasma cannons an M3 MU 20 have a D.p/s of 830.19 p/s. It is immensely OP, and due for a nerf no doubt, so I would caution any low ranked player against investing in Twins on this ground. Dark Vengeance -
Yes, it does. 2.1.2, as is common to most regulations, rules and laws, provides alternatives. The quote presented is one alternative of the wording, cited in support of my argument. The full text of Game Rule 2.1.2 is: 'Application or distribution of third party software or other means for improvement on automation of game possibilities (bots, cheats) as well as programmes that may deteriorate the functioning of the Game and/or the functioning of electronic devices of electronic devices of third persons.' Specific reference is made to 'cheats' as well. In video gaming, this usually refers to the use of cheat codes inserted by developers during testing so that Hazel Rah, for example, can operate as a Legend whilst only being ranked, at present, as General. A classic example would be typing IDDQD in the first Doom and thereby activating a so-called 'GodMode' where all weapons are activated and no health is lost. Such codes are very much a part of the engine, but provide knowledgable players with an unintended exploit and advantage, ond use thereof is often taken to be cheating. Further, the use of the disjunctive 'or' in the mention of 'third party software or other means' indicates a reference to means other than such software are included in the prohibition. This would mean cheat codes, and perhaps commands entered after typing Control Shift K. The problem with this provision, however much we lawyer it, is that it is vague, and deliberately so, in an attempt to bring every form of conduct under its purview, which is why im attempting to put this to the Devs for comment. Dark Vengeance
-
Well, using Shift Control K and entering commands is described by a player in VLog 87, in the context of shooting awesum vids ingame without using spectator mode. This would not entail an "Application of other means for improvement of game possibilities' as described in Rule 2.1.2. as no battle advantage is gained thereby. My point remains, this is a hack. If I have missed a Vlog, please draw my attention to it, and can a moderator take this to the developers so that we can get an authoritative statement on this? I wanna beat this game above board, not have the glory and honor of victory dimmed by the use of cheats or hacks Dark Vengeance
-
One issue though, use of 'birds eye view.' Magnum, not needing line of sight, due to its parabolic trajectory, benefits from the birds eye view obtained by typing Control Shift K and entering commands, but is this ethical, or a hack that provides unfair advantage in contravention of the Tanki Code? Call me a stickler, but Game Rule 2.1.2 prohibits: 'Application or distribution of third-party software or other means for improvement or automation of game possibilities' may lead to, at the Administrations discretion, permanent or temporary blocking of a Users account. Whilst 2.1.2 is vague, it does seem that entering commands to provide a function that in turn provides game advantage would be an 'application of a means for improvement of game possibilities' as described. All the more so considering that there is no mention, to my recollection, in any V-log of this technique, and no button is provided for such camera action by admin. On the other hand, this advantage is available to all who know the codes and correct steps, and, as such, may well be legitimate at the higher levels of play Could the devs come in on this point? Is it legit? Are y'all gonna have a boner for players using birds eye view and other commands in battle/can we happily going about with great satellite surveillance blasting our enemies away from out of nowhere? Dark Vengeance

Same issue here. I attempt to enter a battle, the bar scrolls and at some point I get 'you have been removed due to inactivity.' This has always happened though, and has been resolved by clearing the Cache and reloading about 3 times before the 2 minute counter runs down. I always put it down to slow internet as im in a part of the world where connection speeds are lower. Since the updates, I have not been able to get in for days, even using the usual irritating methods, and usually get 'Fatal Error' and the attached screen. I was on a schedule to rank to Legend in 2 years and was even ahead. Due to losses in play time, Its not likely now. I cannot tell you how annoying this is. Dark Vengeance

[Special Review] Updates: Patches #453 and #455
DarkVengeance replied to Flexoo in Newspaper Archive
Daily Missions in Standard Battles The perks IMHO Tanki consists in 75 maps at present. Tankers mostly play Island, Hill, Serpuhov, Kangur, Rio, Sandbox, Noise, Silence and Island, making 66 go to waste most of the time. Daily missions on less played maps may stimulate activity there. Downside IMHO Small choice of maps when playing Daily Missions in standard battles. Have to play some of the time each day with High Rankers and Druggers Also, Strizhak was pretty insulting with his commentary on players 'farming crystals,' 'using Daily Missions in Pro-Battles against the intentions of the developers' 'compensating 'honest players'' (with the implication that those that farm crystals, are not). tossing in the word 'mult,' which, kinda like using the expression 'funding terrorism,' seems to be sufficient on Tanki to color any activity with illegitimacy, followed by an allegation that the rules are being violated. They are not, this is simply gaming the system without breaking the Rules, and does not always entail the use of Mults. This is like a casino saying that players are cheating simply due to said players playing efficiently and optimally. On the topic of honesty, we have to question how Developers made changes to Tanks and Turrets, then sold high priced alterations that take said equipment back to what it was. Take it back to what it was, players evidently hate the change Dark Vengeance -
Ok, some feedback 1) Yeah, having video interviews is useful in understanding the why of an update, perhaps better than text based. However, this also comes across as a cop-out...'Vlogs are so much effort, lets film a quick interview.' Vlogs are fundamental to the quality of the game and vibrancy of the community. Keep em, add interviews for hardcore and pro Tankers 2) Why so long? 1h30 interview with Cedric? Seriously? 3) You are killing us with all these changes. What sport or game has a major shift in gameplay or rules every second day? This means that we need to re-calculate our statistics as regards D.p/s and so forth all the time, are constantly retraining, repeating a noob cycle without achieving mastery before the next change and it is a situation of endless adjustment. It is not skill and equipment that determines victory. It is adapt or die these days, the Tanker who can keep up with these endless changes wins. This is not how it should be 4) I get the need to tweak and adjust to keep the game balanced, but these are radical changes. 'Twins is the most powerful turret in the game!' "ok ill buy Twins..' 'Twins is OP, nerf, Hammer is now the most powerful turret in the game' This operates unfairly on Tankers. It takes considerable time and effort to master a turret, not to mention earning the cry to buy a particular modification. This can take months, to wake up and find a completely different Tank, to the one that we have worked, paid for and mastered, in the garage. To raise a comparison with Formula 1 say, yes, race organisers have the right and there is a need to adjust rules to provide for safety, entertainment and fair competition, but this consists in change tyre pressure, add this valve for fuel safety and so on, not 'you can use 2 litre engines, next week '2 litre engines are bad, only 3 litre' next week '3 litre doesnt work, back to 2.5 litre.' and each time the team is meant to replace an expensive engine and retrain. 5) Many of the changes are worthwhile, some are boneheaded. Striker and Magnum are fantastic, and provide the heavy firepower the game needed. Speed increases on Titan and Mammoth are great. Before, they were too slow, even for moving about in the back on defence. Why oh why kill the speed on Wasp? Every game should have an insanely fast tank, and Tanki has maps, in particular DeathTrack and MonteCarlo, specifically built for this. Why nerf the shot angle on Rico? Rico, with the bouncing plasma and high angle, fulfilled its purpose, it could hit anywhere. While not having the crowd control of FireBird, there was no hiding from a Rico, that was its point. All in all tho, a positive shift in the right direction. Keep up the good work Dark Vengeance

D Pdox, u are the master. Using your methods on Dusseldorf, within half an hour I was dropping shot from one end to the other, rite onto the enemies flag. D.V.
-
Well this is what happens. Most everything Tanki does is aimed at shifting the system to squeeze more cry and $ out of Tankers. I get it, its a business, the guys gotta eat, but this needs to be balanced with listening to player complaints and keeping the community happy. TO is imbalanced, Pay to Win and does have a horrendous community. There is rampant multing, trolling and so forth. Its also an awesome game. D.V.

[Special Review] Changes to M0 Hulls and Turrets Microupgrades Patch #445
DarkVengeance replied to stanzhang in Newspaper Archive
The obvious point of this update is to get noobs buying cry to install MUs early on -
It is about time Tanki introduced a formal, in-game Clan system as against the informal, 'forum and Skype' approach, they are taking us seriously as e Sportsmen. The $ 36 price is high, I assume the point is that an existing clan can spread the cost among all initial players? Seems unfair to have the 'Supreme Commander' foot the bill. Notice Boards, Clan Paints,Logos and a Clan Ranking System are needed to complete the system. Tanki, in 3 of the Battle Modes at least, is a team sport/battle/game, and joining in a battle with perhaps 19 people that I may have never played with before and may never again, with no coherent strategy, existing relationship or training cannot be taken to be a team in any sense of the word Dark

Gold Box drop scam
DarkVengeance replied to DarkVengeance in Gold Box drop scam Game Violation Reports
Hello ! You need to collect evidence. The best proof is a video which clearly shows the violation. Quality of the video must allow moderators to easily understand nicknames and ranks of all the players. Before creating this topic , Please read : *** GAME VIOLATIONS SECTION RULES *** -
Some thoughts; Premier League? Clearly, the devs are turning M3 into a 'premier league,' available only at the final tier starting at Marshall. This seems fair enough, it is how it should be. If a person were to separate Tanki progress into 3 bands, calculated on experience, a Tanker would be a mid ranked until 933 333, which is between General and Marshall. Introducing fairness The stated criterion is so that M2s do not face M3s in battle. This logic would apply, similarly to M0s fighting M1s, M1s fighting M2s and so forth, and I presume a similar plan is in the works for these Modifications. However, there is a problem in implementation. For example, at my rank, competitiors have had access to M3 Isida, Thunder, Shaft and Hornet already, through the purchase of product kits. At the rate I play, I would be facing these weapons with M2 mods until March 2017, or June 2017 if I wait until the customary 50% sale on Tankers day to go M3, 6 months later than anticipated, according to a plan to rank to Generallissimo in 2 years, at a rate of about 1800 exp a day, which is probably standard for any hardcore gamer. The net effect is that I face M3s with M2s for the next 9 months, thus defeating the object. Being forced to use weapons now not in accordance with playing style The devs have consistently remarked that Tankers should pick weapons and tanks in accordance with playing style, not to seek advantage by looking for weapon that are OP, and that anything overpowered is likely to be nerfed sooner or later. The planned update radically changes playing style for a number of combinations. Im in agreement with Gold Rock. FireBird is now more of a generalised assault weapon, Isida is more powerful as an attacker than as a healer, Rico now operates better at melee and short range, Thunder is less of a support weapon and similar in gameplay now to Rico, Shaft is no longer suited to snipe high value targets out of an attack, and so forth. A tanker that has worked and invested in these weapons, to facilitate a preferred playing style or tactics may wake up after the update to find his hard earned Tank performing in terms of a completely different way of playing A Solution It seems that the better option to a Sale together with a number of days of double battle funds, to sweeten what may be a bitter pill for some, is to give a refund on cry spent to date, and to remove existing tanks from every players garage, together with a Sale. That way, we have the option of purchasing tanks that suit respective playing style after the update. Its also less totalitarian. Tanks are seen as electronic property, worked and paid for, it does not seem legitimate for developers to unilaterally change the performance characteristics, Imagine if Ferarri were to come into a guys garage and change the engine on a car so as to improve the overall Ferrarri picture, leaving a vehicle that performs completely differently? This also provides the option of screening out 'premier league' M3 tanks using the create battle function, so we dont have to get shot up by those who use Thunder, Shaft and Isida for close on a year whilst getting to Marshall, in my example. A refund was offered, from what I read, after the last major global update, the same logic would apply. DarkVengeance
