Nothing is planned. Accidents are just events that were not supposed to happen or we did not see them coming. The Big Crunch was a theory made before the discovery of Dark energy, a mysterious elusive force that is causing the universe to expand faster and overcoming the gravitational effect of galaxies which would've otherwise pulled all the matter in the universe back together, thus validating the Big Crunch Theory. The theory that is possible however, is the Big Freeze theory. Where, the amount of entropy is at a 0, all energy is evenly distributed throughout the universe, the dark energy reaches unprecedented amount of power. First the galaxies are ripped apart, then solar systems, then planets, eventually our cells and atoms. This is the big freeze theory. Entropy is the randomness or the complexity of arrangement of particles, the entropy of the universe rn is in an increasing curve, it's increasing, but eventually it will decrease and the big freeze will be happening.
