I've been looking though player's ratings and I noticed that quite a few players had many or all m1s at warrant officer ranks. Are they buyers? Or are they just getting lots of crystals?

If hunter requires skill is what you mean than yes. And for m2s, Simoom or Anaconda or atlas-but I don't find it fun using smoky

Is hammer worth it in the higher ranks? If one has hammer protection-35% module, it will take 3-4 shots to kill a wasp! Are there not many hammers in the high ranks because if there are too many protections I might not want to buy it.

Yes! Get it! In my rank it is so annoying and OP. Vulcan is OP in general anyway. But you might want to switch to mammoth when you get to higher ranks

Is anvil kit worth it? It seems pretty expensive for m1 kit. I heard dictator is not very good at m1. If not, is tsunami kit worth it? And finally- since hammer and firebird are OP and have many protections- are they effective weapons in general further on??

I currently have m1 titan and m1 smoky and after I steamroll a enemy base I usually die before killing one person. I assume that you are supposed to use supplies with smoky titan, right? I mean I just can't destroy all the defenders.
