KEEPIN' IT REAL #3: FINISHING 1st IN A BATTLE One thing that every tanker loves while playing Tanki is finishing first in a battle. While most people succeed in doing this at least a few times, others are unfortunate not to every finish first in a battle. In this article, I will be teaching you how to finish first in a battle almost every time! In Capture the Flag, you need to knock your teammates out of the way. This way you'll have an advantage on them to capture the flag. Turn into their tank and keep pushing against them until they hit a wall or building. When you have knocked them out of the way, this gives you a few seconds to gain an advantage on them while racing toward the flag. In Team Deathmatch, make sure YOU are the one to get the kill. Make sure that YOU get all ten XP from destroying the opponent. If this means blocking your teammates, then that's none of your business. You shouldn't have to lose crystals because of your teammates destroying the opponent. In Control Points, when you are trying to capture the point, make sure none of your teammates are around. If they try to help you, block them from doing so. This will prevent them from taking XP for themselves, and you will get all of the XP from capturing the point. It doesn't matter if an enemy is attacking, you should stick with your plan and will be in an all-or-nothing situation, and having all of the XP is better than having a few XP. If an enemy is attacking, make sure you block your teammate from getting any shots off and make sure that YOU are the one to kill them, just like in Team Deathmatch! Lastly, make sure to lay mines all over the place. Waste your ENTIRE supply of mines in one battle. This way you will surely get first place. The opposing team will not know how to get around the mines and they will trigger them, resulting in you becoming the winner of the battle! That's all for this time tankers. Remember, make sure to block your teammates when racing for the flag or capturing the point and to block their shots in Team Deathmatch. Good luck tankers! See you on the battlefield! ~by Ruodrik~ -

Keepin' It Real (Issue 2) -- Ranking Up
Ruodrik replied to Ruodrik in Keepin' It Real (Issue 2) -- Ranking Up Writers' Corner
KEEPIN' IT REAL #2: RANKING UP Ah, we meet again tankers! The last time I wrote an article, I talked about how to catch gold boxes. Today, I will tell you how to act and how to earn that last bit of XP before ranking up. Grab your popcorn, yank the person nearest to you (even if it's a stranger) to your electronic device, relax, and get ready to dig into this article about how to rank up like a boss! Before you even rank up, you need to make sure to get that last bit of XP. Even if you're only one kill away from ranking up, you need to start a sixty-minute battle to make it almost certain that you rank up! Wait for someone else to join the battle on the opposing side, then kill them. It may take a few minutes to finally destroy them, but when you do you will rank up. Even after you rank up, stay in the battle. You need to make sure you claim the crystals you were awarded. If your opponent leaves and nobody else joins, this benefits you because now you will be receiving the most crystals in the battle. The most important thing about ranking up in recording it. But why should you record it? You will never play it back to yourself, and the most you will ever get out of it is a quality video on YouTube. Even if you have a famous Tanki YouTube channel, you'll probably only get around 2,000 views out of it. Who cares about that little of views? Unless you're expecting to get ten million views out of the video, you should rather savor the moment for yourself instead of showing it to the world. The next important thing is how to act when you rank up. When you rank up, you will most likely receive a comment in the chat congratulating you on your achievement. You may think that this is a polite thing, but really it is a low degree of SABOTAGE! If they take five seconds out of the battle to tell you "congratulations" they are potentially risking the capturing of a flag in CTF, being destroyed in TDM, or losing the point in CP (or if the point isn't yours, risking potentially getting the point in the nick of time to win by a point or so!) This will result in a loss of crystals that you could have had if they hadn't stopped for five seconds to tell you "congratulations." If THEY are going to waste THEIR time, then it's your duty to tell them to get back to playing and to stop chatting. This way they will think of you as a leader and will continue to battle for your team. They will respect you more as a leader but know they are being disciplined for their actions or inactions. The only form of congratulating after a rank up is to fight harder for your team, to make sure you win the battle you're in as a "congratulations" gift. That's all for this time tankers. Remember, when you're about to rank up start a sixty-minute battle and stay through the entirety of the battle, NEVER record yourself ranking up, and make sure nobody congratulates you when you rank up so they continue to fight hard for your team. Now that you know the protocol, get right into a battle and start working towards your next rank-up today! ~by Ruodrik~ -
What does "gz" mean? Also thanks!

Keepin' It Real (Issue 1) -- Gold Boxes
Ruodrik replied to Ruodrik in Keepin' It Real (Issue 1) -- Gold Boxes Writers' Corner
KEEPIN' IT REAL #1: GOLD BOXES Hello tankers! Today I'm going to be telling you how to properly catch gold boxes, and teach you a few tricks that will work every time you play! First off, when you hear the siren signaling the gold box is dropping, make sure to look around for it. If you find it, go to the opposite side of the map and wait for the box to appear. This helps because you will be the first one to know when the box is actually dropping. When it is visible, rush towards the box. There is no need to use speed boost, as it will only make people dislike you and call you a "hacker" for using supplies. Secondly, when you are heading for the location of the gold box, make sure to stop and destroy everybody that is around you. This way there will be less people blocking you from getting the gold box, meaning you will not have to worry about people destroying you while you are heading for the gold box. Thirdly, make sure to dodge all of the supply boxes from the moment the siren goes off to the moment the gold box is caught. This way, people will not think that you are selfish and will probably thank you later. There is nothing worse than people on a computer game calling you selfish for taking supply boxes. Fourth and finally, don't try to get the gold box at all! This will make people think that you are incapable of getting the box, so they will ignore you the next time it drops and will not try to kill you. That's all for this time tankers! If you follow these steps, you will be a gold box king in no time! You'll be known as the best gold hunter in all of Tanki! This includes the Russian community, English community, Dutch community, etc. So what are you waiting for? Log into the game and start collecting gold boxes now! ~by Ruodrik~ -
Do you really have to spend money to get a gold box supply? Because if you do...
-
Yeah I didn't mention it because nobody brought up having to buy anything to win. And it is pay to win because like you just said the only solution is to buy crystals.
-
So basically that makes Tanki a "pay to win" game, in which case it's no longer a "free" game. Still doesn't make sense why someone who tries their hardest and does really well in a battle would get less of a reward than someone on the other team who came in with around two minutes to go and barely even tried at all.

What about me? Hehe just kidding! -
Yeah but not fair in the way that you can try your hardest and have the rest of your team sit back and not try at all, and then you get awarded nothing for it.
-
Ok but why should I have to spend money to be good in Tanki? They should just make the game fair so that you don't get next-to-nothing for doing a good job.
-
Makes sense, and I actually do think about staying in these battles sometimes. But staying in a battle as the losing team means gaining little to none crystals, and you will only be earning experience. Not in all cases though. Sometimes the other team is just naturally better and there's nothing you can do.
-
How about a supply that includes all three, speed boost, double power, and double armor? More expensive to buy and less common to drop in battles.

How about taking DM mode and TDM mode and combining them? Not replacing both DM and TDM mode but making it so that you can choose to team up with another person or another two people in a battle. I mean there could be like three teams at once or even more in a battle like this of two to three players per team. Like right next to the kill count there could be a button (like the one to access the friends list) where you can send team requests to other players, and they can decide if they want to join your team or not by pressing a button. Basically like friend requests, but with teams for the battle instead. All the teams could be different colors, for example: -Red team -Blue team -Yellow team -Orange team -Purple team -Brown team -Black team -White team Make it optional too, so that if you don't want to join a team you can remain independent on the green team. Upon joining a team you can no longer kill your teammates unless you want to exit the battle, by pressing an "x" button and confirming your choice to leave the team you're on. This way in regular DM battles people won't be teaming up against you because they could just join these other battles, which I like to call Mini Team Deathmatch (MTDM) but the name of it really doesn't matter. Thoughts?

Why Stay In A Losing Battle?
Ruodrik replied to Ruodrik in Why Stay In A Losing Battle? Writers' Corner
WHY STAY IN A LOSING BATTLE? -by Ruodrik- Picture this: You log in to the game and you are scrolling through battles. You find a Control Points battle and you decide to join. What you don't stop to look at is what the score is, and even though when you enter you see your team is losing by a large margin, you decide to stay. You remain for the rest of the battle, which ends when the opposition's score totals one-hundred. You did really well in this battle, and you had the most points in your team. You check to see how many crystals you've earned and it totals to...thirty-one. Recently, I was in a battle like this one. I took a screenshot of it to review all of the statistics to find that an opponent, whose score totaled only two points less than mine, had earned seventy more crystals than I had. This is because the opponent was on the winning team, and I was on the losing team. I continued to review the statistics when I saw that someone with less than half of the total score I had got thirteen more crystals than I did! Though thirteen crystals isn't a lot, it still should not be possible for someone who had only half the score that I did get MORE crystals than me. Hence, I propose this question: What is the point in staying in a battle where your team is losing? You might as well search for another battle in which the team you join is winning. Joining the losing team means losing crystals which you could be earning elsewhere. Lastly, because your team isn't pulling their weight to make sure your team wins, you will lose crystals. This is sabotage in its lightest form. Thankfully, there are a few ways to avoid this. One way is to make sure you always join the winning team. Search around for a battle in which there are an even amount of players, but the score is uneven. Even if the score is even, it's still risky to join the battle because the team you choose could still lose. If the scores are uneven, join the team which is winning. Play until the end of the battle, and then wait to see how many players on each team leave. If there is a majority of the players on the opposition's team that leave, stay in the battle unless your team has lost. If, despite the team you were on was winning when you arrived, has lost, then leave the battle and find another one in which you can join the winning team. Another way to avoid this is to just join Deathmatch battles. This way, your teammates cannot affect how many crystals you receive if you try your hardest, since you won't have any teammates. You might be bad at Deathmatch mode, but the amount of losses you receive rarely has an influence on the amount of crystals you receive. The amount of tankers you destroy DOES matter, but every time you destroy another tank you will earn a set amount of crystals that won't revolve around your teammates effort to win, again because you will not have any teammates who can affect the outcome of the battle. That's all for this time tankers! Until next time, make sure to stay away from joining battles as the losing team and continue to earn crystals as the winner! Signing off, -RUODRIK -

Hoping my Rams can cut their missing-the-playoffs streak this year!!! Had a good draft, so just hoping they can do something with the players they got.

Also, is there anybody on here that does Channel Art? I really need a banner and I'm too lazy to make one on my own.
