What Is Your Opinion About the Current State of Tanki Online?
Mountaingoat11 replied to TheCongoSpider in Game Discussion
Well, if I had to summarize the state of the game in one sentence, it would be this: Tanki is now nothing more than a playground for whales who use it to waste money by buying their bundles to get ridiculously powerful tanks that in tandem with drugs crush normal players. Seriously, this is every battle in MM: You spawn in to your base being overrun by drugged up M4s. The flag is on its way to being delivered, and you can only watch helplessly as it moves farther and farther away. The Railgun-Hornet in front of you with his OD activated one-shots you through your spawn protection. 30 second pass, and the enemy team is back at it again. They sure are geared up for this, max supplies on every single one of them, red, brown, and yellow staring you in the face. What choice do you have if you wish to survive the onslaught? You press [2], then [4], and finally [3] before hapless dying to a barrage of Vulcan, Gauss, and Thunder bullets aimed at you. You're only in the mid-ranks with an average, if decent M2 combination, but for some reason the game has decided to put you in a match full of Marshals. They win 5-0, and you gleefully collect the 54 crystals you earned. Well done. -
One thing they should implement in MM is a limitation on the number of types of hulls on a team. Having multiple hulls with the same OD creates an imbalance in the game on certain maps and in certain game modes. Examples: Siege Mode (Titans): having multiple titans is a sure guarantee for victory. People just chain together their ODs so that they can hold a point indefinitely. You might be asking, "Why not switch to Hunter then?" The problem is, they're too many domes to deactivate. Get rid of one and the next one just pops up. The only counter is multiple hornets, but you don't see that too often. This happens on maps such as Massacre, where congregation around points is advantageous and even on open maps such as Breast where there is little cover. Capture the Flag/ Rugby (Wasps): Wasps, if present in great numbers, are very strong in CTF and Rugby because the enemy team can just keep on bombing up your spawn/flag, preventing any type of counterplay as they (being fast Wasps) run away with your flag. Even just 2 or 3 Wasps on a team can wreck havoc because they have a tendency to plant bombs when you're occupied. If you're defending the base, that's a point lost right there (and a death added to your death count). Team Death Match, All Modes (Hornet): Wall hacks. You may as well give the whole team wall hacks if they've got 3+ hornets on their team. Rugby (Hunters): Hunters have an advantage in rugby because they are able to rush the base and use their OD to clear anybody standing in the way (OD the defender, drive around him). Multiple hunters in this game mode - you may as well call it gg. Capture the Flag, All Modes (Dictator): with multiple Dictators in a game mode such as CTF, the enemy just gets a drug advantage. In most instances that I've seen, enemies regroup right after capturing a flag and OD (if they're dictators), allowing them another spree of killing and the inevitable loss of another flag. The problem here isn't the OD - it's the number of ODs. By staggering their ODs (something that happens naturally in a game), enemy teams with lots of Dictators are able to always charge a base with max health and drugs, almost always winning in the process. Suggestion: limit the number of hulls, by type, that can end up in the same battle. Having 4+ Hunters in Rugby, for example, is almost unwinnable. Place a max of 2 of every hull type in a team. Players will not be affected by this because MM is already randomized - adding this constraint won't limit what you can play, only how your team composition will end up. No more will there be 4+ Hornets on Massacre murdering every tank that exposes itself. No more will there be 3+ Titans holding a point in Siege without any trouble. Best of all, no more will there be an endless wave of Hunter ODs paralyzing your tank for all eternity. Now, I hear some people asking, "But won't people be able to just change to a different hull once they're in a battle?" Yes, they will. But most won't. The majority of players can't be bothered to switch to an "off-hull" just to get into a battle where they might have the chance to tip the scales by overloading the other team with stacked ODs. Most people have a favorite hull or two that they keep as their default. MM would just ensure that these people don't end up in teams with a large number of their hulls. If things get really bad with the switching equipment, time limits can be added to the garage. When you first enter a battle, you can't switch equipment for the first minute or two of battle. After all, if you equipped a certain combination in the garage, then the assumption is you wanted to play that combination in battle. This change, I believe, would mitigate some of the imbalances already present in MM.

Dictator is broken if you're playing in a team mode where the enemy team's got at least 3 of them, and the dictator users are using their OD appropriately. Then it feels like the enemy team always has max supplies/health on. Hornet, Titan, and Wasp also share the same "problem". One really annoying match up is where the entire enemy team is composed of hornets and vikings. Or titans, because then your hunters get overwhelmed. Wasp, especially on CTF, becomes less of a nuisance and more of a frustration because there's always a wasp running into your base every 20 seconds or so blowing everything up and running with the flag. Also: Dictator/Railgun M3s running around at my rank with Scout. Always fun to go against.

These special missions are trash. People dying/panicking because of COVID/wuhan, and all Tanki sees is an opportunity to capitalize on revenue/(new) players. Even if this weren't underhanded, the rewards are garbage considering how you will have (for certain) no life upon completing them. The number of double damages you get for using 1000 nitros... I can get that in one mission's worth of rewards. XTs were ruined by skin containers. Now they're not even special. 100 gold boxes dropped. 100% possible... if you're a buyer with that epic stash of 300 gold boxes. Otherwise, this mission is flat out impossible, or will require significant expenditures of energy on the tanker's part. And 300 batteries is... just no. No. The only one that's even worth doing is Social Distancing, and that's because it offers the only reward with a function in-game (aka it could help you in battle). Also, ODs require no effort to use, and wasp gets 2-5 bombs a game. But even that'll take time. Just like challenges and wars. Always a grind now. Never fun.

Well, as many people have already said, game balance is non-existent right now. Mid ranks (WO5-Major) is the most affected in my opinion, with a plethora of players now having M3s and what not. A lot of players, believe it or not, have M3 turrets or hulls (Mk 6.5-7) without having maxed prots, too. They use them in MM battles in conjunction with drugs to rekt people hard. The lower ranks are also fraught with buyers, most of the time just RTL accounts that max out their equipment thanks to the new shop changes. Every low rank battle, even starting as low as recruit, has at least one person that's played the game before and that has skill. It's probably very difficult to level nowadays thanks to that, and the occasional ultra-gamer (premium star grinder with all drugs when they haven't even unlocked drugs yet) definitely doesn't make it easier. High ranks, based on what I've seen others say (and what the videos online show), are black and white. Black if you don't have all 50% prot, because the minute you hit a rank where legends become common, you will die. White if you already had everything maxed out or if you're one of those buyers that gets a M4 at Brigadier (right then and there). Also, in the upper ranks everyone drugs like crazy. You may as well count drugging as quintessential there. It's starting to bleed into the low and mid-ranks, too. The biggest issue I see with balance right now isn't with any particular turret/hull, but with the skill level of players and MM battles. Tanki, you've got to balance the teams out in MM battles rather than just throwing them together every time "X" number of players want to play. Because if you don't, the result is usually a very one-sided battle where there are 3 guys on the winning team doing most of the heavy lifting and the other 5 or so contributing slightly/capitalizing on the opportunity of getting into a "good match." I don't want a "good match", I want MM battles where I am guaranteed to at least have a fighting chance. Understanding the fact that the game is going to have OP buyers, you shouldn't make it so that all of the buyers are on one team. At least split them up by basing group determinations not on which battles need to be filled irrespective of GS disparities, but on collective GS for the teams. Basically, form teams in such a way that the GS for both sides are balanced as closely as possible, and K/Ds, too.

Fortnite's dead and it invented the battlepass. That should be a cue to Tanki as to what it needs to do.

DM Kolhoz. At midrank (I'm a Major), it's nothing more than a mosh pit of buyers with M3s spamming double damages one-shotting anybody who doesn't have a double armor on. Truly disappointing that the average tanker has to rely on supplies and money, not brains, to win.

This is the reason why online tanki became a P2W game and the community is getting smaller and smaller.
Mountaingoat11 replied to flaw03 in Archive
In terms of p2w, you only need to look at Tanki Youtubers. Those are the guys breaking MM, buying 1,000,000 crystal bundles and new skins for hundreds of dollars. Also, look at the GS in battle. Half the people in mid ranks are M3 already (6000-7000). And that occasional "ultra-buyer" (all M2/3 at low ranks) is becoming more and more common thanks to Tanki's decision to include kits in the shop. Having horrible MU sales doesn't help as these people max out their equipment (save prot) even without discounts. Check out Florida's profile in the Ratings if you don't believe me. -

So I buy Gauss at 50% off only to find a few months later that I still have to upgrade it to Mk5 and get it up with my other M2s because the scaling system is stupid. Completely unnecessary, seeing as how the buyers will still max out their stuff. You offered a bundle in-game that had 1.5 MILLION crystals, and you don't think there's going to be problems?!? Also, it makes aspiring legends die because they have to upgrade everything from the ground up, which, at that point, doesn't really make sense financially. Including protections... The only people that don't care are legends who have everything maxed out already (sucks to suck, lol). -
I don't like playing with people who might have m4s. In other words, Marshals.
-
That's because M1 firebird is the cheapest one available. M2 is because of alts.
-
There aren't many isidas in my range anymore because everybody's using hulls that can actually deal damage. It's definitely beneficial to have on a team (healing - obviously), but... no one plays it anymore.

category Ideas for Supplies and Drones!
Mountaingoat11 replied to Ilia.ArchangeI in Ideas and Suggestions
First off, I know somebody already said this idea (probably). ... But they need to change the cooldown of supplies in MM battles. I mean, EVERYBODY uses supplies in every. single. MM. battle. Every (or most every) single tank. That's just a bit ridiculous, truthfully. With a double armor into a repair and moderate skill, every medium and heavy hull pretty much has a second life. You can't even destroy anybody who's camping in your base because most of the time they have a double armor + damage equipped when you spawn, AND a repair to back it up (mostly seen in one-sided MM battles). All these drugged-up tankers... have you ever seen a MM battle where no one has all three supplies on at once? Just look at the number of people on your team spawning and throwing on a double armor the minute they become corporal. Now, it's the side with more premium top-five players is the side that wins. You can't even compete (yes, I have tried) without using any supplies if it's a balanced game (i.e. same number of flags captured). As for those unbalanced games... What happened to supply drops? I've seen players throw on a double armor when they have a double armor NEXT to them. You even see those low rank hornet + firebirds throwing on double damages for no reason (even though they know they know they are going to die). I remember back a while age when supplies weren't this prevalent... I had around 500 speed boxes (the supply I have the most of) at that time and was still able to score a decent K/D. The fact that it's so easy to get supplies nowadays shows that the developers don't even care anymore... of course. (supplies = augment tankers/buyers = enjoy game more = buy). Where are the days when you had to BUY most of your supplies from the garage? Granted, there might be more non-buyers than buyers out there (of course, it's impossible to tell nowadays because everybody has supplies) So finally... changes: Double Armor: Don't make it go into a repair. Just. Don't. It's bad enough seeing that viking M2.5 throw on a double armor, knowing he's going to take forever to kill (unless you ALSO drug), it's even worse seeing him regain ALL of his hp (I know if you hit them while they're repairing, it stops, but honestly, they still get that initial boost). Double Damage: Ah, the elixir of life for thunder + vikings at my rank (and smokies). I mean, what's the point of a heavy hull if you know the other guy's going to just throw on a double damage? What's the point of playing ANY hull if you know the other guy can, at the very least, destroy you as if you both of you didn't have supplies on? I say change the cool down of using this supply from any other 1 minute. Stop the one/two-shotting of all those hornets, eh? Speed Boost: Probably the least abused of the supplies (except for heavies, where it doesn't really make that much of a difference to others), used mostly (from my experience) by hunter + firebirds to chase down everybody. Maybe a 45-second cool down on this one from all others. Repair: Want to give your double-armor M2.6 27% prop against everything hunter M2s on a premium account a second life? Just use the repair box, an easy around alternative for every tanker (who wants to ruin the game). Now, I know repair boxes are needed in the game, but they shouldn't be as accessible as they are now. Tanki should make them strategic, say, make players ACTUALLY THINK about when to use them. Set the cool down to 2 minutes I say. Yes, 2 minutes. 3 repairs a battle. Or maybe set a max limit use of 10 repairs per battle. Almost every gold box catch is possible because of the [1] on your computer. If those first place players want the gold box, they've got to save them. Mines: ... Pro battles: Yes, there's going to be people saying, "Then just go play pro battles noob. The pass is less than 4k!" The thing is, Tanki shouldn't be about supplies. The fact that you even need supplies to win in these "normal" battles is already quite disappointing. It's as if LoL players started having to use riot points to play CASUALLY. That's what Tanki is. If you don't have supplies, you're pretty much screwed. And as if to nail in that point Tanki makes most of its f2p rewards (mission chains, early stage challenge rewards, etc.) in MM battles. That's just stupid. I know all those no-lifers (aka play Tanki 24/7, complete all challenges, etc.) and buyers out there don't care, so don't bother reading this post. It won't change your opinion. Oh, and I'm not checking this post. I have better things to do than listen to all your so-called "counterarguments".- 2,749 replies

New drone, and MM versions for Stadium and Chernobyl!
Mountaingoat11 replied to theFiringHand in News Archive
Drones are just for buyers. I don't see batteries ever becoming cheap enough to buy (or drones good enough to use not MUed). Also, kind of sucks for all those people who thought they were special getting those prime skins now that anybody can chance it in a container
