I'm sorry, but when does the Newspaper come out, again?

I have a question: Can a FICTIONAL story (or piece, or article, what have you) be written in first person, as a fictional person, whether briefly or for the whole story?

Everyone, please, check thoroughly to make sure your question hasn't been already asked yet. It's tiresome for people (not me, but people) to answer the same questions multiple times. If you have any questions concerning the content of the articles, word limits, language, how to do it, etc., those questions have already been answered. I'm just here being my normal, pesky self. You can show your entry to whomever you want as long as they won't copy you. If they play Tanki and if you win, they'll see it in the Tanki Newspaper, anyway.

I do have a question I'm asking just for curiosity: Why do you have the "Story" category? I'm very glad for it, of course, as that's the category I submitted my story in, but still, it's completely unrelated to Tanki. I thought that in the Tanki Newspaper, everything had to be related to Tanki! Just curious, though. Also, will they alert me on the Forum, or on Tanki, or just not at all and expect me to find it in the newspaper if I win? Because sometimes I have trouble finding stuff on here. And I know I shouldn't be asking questions about winning because I won't, but still, be prepared for everything, right? :D

Yaasssssss! This same phrase gets said to me literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I'M ON TANKI and it never gets old. LOTR for the win! Also I have a Samwise_Gamgee account, if anyone was wondering. Maybe I'll make one for Merry too ;) But not for Frodo because, although I like him--I guess--he's really not a good person. I'm sorry to all you Frodo fans out there, it's just that Sam is about a trillion times better. (Books, mostly. But also movies.) Also, please, everyone, stop calling The Lord of the Rings a trilogy. It is composed of SIX books which are USUALLY divided into three VOLUMES with two books per volume. PS: Is Sam's dad's name Hamwise? It says in the Fellowship that his name is Ham, but it's probably actually Hamwise, right?

I am really excited for this contest! I've been writing stories, poems, and songs as long as I could remember. I'll be submitting a fictional short story about 500 words long in the Story category. This is my first writing contest I have ever entered in, so I don't expect to win, especially since there are so many other people submitting articles, but it will be really fun to try. I hope you like it (to whoever reads the articles). I know I have a very slim chance at winning, but I'm a stickler for grammar and punctuation, so my story will be good on those accounts. I had it peer reviewed by my creative writing classmates and my writing teacher, and they seemed to like it.
