    [Review] Matchmaking

    1. I need 200k xp to reach the required level, then with 2k per week that would take me 100 weeks, so about 2 years. Let's take an appointment for December 2019. 2. apply in December 2019. Thank you for your enlightenment master. TY, I hope it helps. Best wish to you too.

    It pays to drug...sadly

It happens a lot, but also with the other mode too and not 100% of the time. The other time you get something else (which is not already in the 2 other missions) or the easy-peasy-lemon-squeezy drop box hunt. TO is shifting to an even more intense fighting style, more power, more kills, more sudden/one-shot death and its not finished, with the additional overdrives it will intensifies (and now the Rugby mode).

Should tanki add back crystal boxes in battles?

"Recently, a few years ago " Only 5 words and there is already a contradiction in your post. "The cause of that is because the players would focus on taking the crystal boxes instead of focusing on battling [...] it is time to bring back crystals in battles. Hopefully players will focus on battling now, right? " Wrong, nothing has change, same condition = same results. The definition of madness is doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results. Battling and catching boxes at the same time is very not convenient, what are you playing? CTF or Box hunt? Saying that maybe they could bring back the "crystal box" mode to TDM and DM battles only to spice them up. Otherwise crystal box is part of the dead TO 1.0, now you are playing a TO 2.0 which will became TO 3.0 with the incoming of Matchmaking. Yes, Matchmaking is coming we are more than half way there, if you read this Review.

    [Review] Matchmaking

TY. I really appreciate your proofreading and dashy correction. The missing image has been added (missed it due to poor refresh of the browser). I have no friend, my secret organization is composed of 2 people and one is temporary unavailable, consequently no proofreading and no Oreos. It's so bad at the moment I'm surviving on potatoes and a potatoe clock. The opening banner can't be more pertaining to TO as it is a screenshot of a brain scan from the Nutty-one when he his thinking hard about MatchMaking. Don't ask me what it represent, I only see the DM Sniper in the middle. :D

    [Review] Matchmaking

Brace yourself, the winds of change are blowing through Tanki Online. The scary and fearsome cloud of Matchmaking is looming over the game. The core fundamentals of the game are standing in the line of fire while tankers are watching with a fraught of distress. * * * Ta-da! What a scorching summer 2017 we had! Indeed, the ambiance has been really burning over the month of August, not only because it was a natural seasonal phenomenon but also because of the TO’s Summer event (brand new event btw). After the special activities, accompanied with a steaming 5 times Gold Boxes drop rate and tasty roasting sales, came this hotty: Mass Live Testing of Matchmaking, or MM for short. Just like this, Tankers were caught right under an icy shower to cure the GB rains fever, and after this shocking and numbness they quickly reacted about this future key feature. At first a shy spur of frustrated comments and before soon, a stream of hated comments pouring like hot lava on the forums. With more than 100 pages cumulated in the spaces of 2 day, Tankers just saw red with this new “Update”, it was even steaming in the in-game chat. The MM is a lot to take and it is beyond doubt a sensitive subject touching a major part of the gameplay that will be roll out for certain. There is no way you can stop this steamroller (slow but unstoppable). Let’s have look at the MM feature, firstly its content, then the MM testing, followed by some key-milestone of the on-going implementation process. What is Matchmaking About? Technically speaking, Matchmaking is a comprehensive interface and system for connecting players together for online game battle. On TO, the objective is to automatically handle the logistics of finding and/or creating battles with enough room for players to join in. As explained by the developer, via the menu in the MM lobby, the players will decide which type of battle they wish to participate (Quick battle, DM, CTF, TDM and CP). Then the system automatically starts and will first add them in a queue with other players with the same request and demonstrating roughly equal fighting ability. And finally, after an algorithmic process, the player will be sent to the battle with the other chosen matched players. The popup window confirming the queuing and displaying waiting time before starting the battle (right-hand side). This feature looks very much like the feature used for the former DM Tournament (left-hand side). So far, we have been communicated that the matchmaking will group player with similar ranks, and if only few players are found with that rank, the ranking bracket will be enlarged by one rank up and rank down. If still not enough player available, the system will increase the ranks again, and again until all the battle is filled. The MM feature in TO will consider the following building blocks: the Lobby, the Missions manager, the Group creation, the customized battle list (pro-battle menu), the battle preparation system and the new maps (let’s call them MM maps). The other major structural changes that will be accompanied the MM implementation are the quick battle button, the merging of all the Servers and the creation of a unique battle list. The BATTLES Lobby for MM with the Battle Menu (BM). The lobby, of which we had the first peek during the MM Test in August. Battle Menu (BM) [Missions] button [Group] button 1/ The Battles menu The menu is composed of six buttons; the top five provide access to “normal battle” (or “non PRO-Battle”) and at the bottom the last on lead you to the unified PRO-battle list. Quick battle is for team battle mode, you will be randomly directed to any CTF, CP and TDM battles. You will not be sent to a DM battle. On the other hand, the Second option of the menu leads you randomly to any DM battles. Then the next three options lead you to the TDM, CTF, CP and ASL (Assault) battles respectively. The last button gives you access to the standard list of Pro-battles only. Yes, all the normal battles will not be listed so you would not be able to join them except via the MM lobby. However, it was suggested that you would not need any longer a PRO-pass to create or partake in those. On special events, an additional button can give access to specific maps, for example during the Halloween 2017 event, a Pumpkin Hunt button lead you to a DM battle on the special Halloween Map. 2/ The [Missions] button Actioning this button will open the Mission pop-up window (currently). If the other Mission button from the top menu is removed then it will prevent you to access your mission status when battling. As it has triggered lots of debates, there is a (hope) possibility that the link from the top menu stays. The Missions button is currently provided in the Battles lobby and will open the current popup Missions window. This set up might look different in the future. 3/ The [Group] button Here you can build a group of friends with whom you want to play with in a MM battle. By actioning it, a table will be appear on top of the Battles menu and will list the friends that you would invite to join your group (four friends maximum). This option is not available if you join DM battle (for obvious reason; don’t you remember the Russian raiders in DM Tournament?) or Pro-battle because it is not supported and beside there you can use the invite friend list system as usual. In the group, you can list a maximum of five players (including you) with no limitation of rank range, subsequently you could have recruit and legends together (hum, this is so logical that Spock is going to kill himself!?) as long as they are live players. You can see your friends’ current equipment (turret, Hull and module) and yours. You can leave the group by clicking on the [Leave the group] button on the right side. The Group menu in the Battles lobby with 4 empty slots available to invite friends. A friend list open to allow invitation of available friends. The “Quick Battles!” Button – 16th November 2016 Onward The “Quick Battles” feature was rolled about a year ago, can you believe that? Times flies. It all started with the announcement of the Battle button to help noobs to join battle (chuckle). When accessing the game (both client and web version), you will see a giant green button marked “Battle” on top of the battle list window. Remember, it is for noob, so it needs to be BIG enough, so they can see it, plus Green colour is a really friendly colour (I am not joking). Clicking on this button will automatically take you to a battle that best fits your rank. Additionally, your battle filters are taking into account when you click the button. If you selected DM battles and TDM, you will be sent to either one of the 2 battle mode selected. At the time, the Quick Battles feature would only send you to battles on your current server, however we have been told at the time that in a future update, the Battle button will be able to send you to the best battle for your rank on any server. "Guess what!?" "What?" "It happened, about a month ago!" "Really?" "Yes and … No!" The big giant button, renamed “Battles!”, is located in the unified battle list, and will now send you back to the MM Lobby :D Where there you can find, on top of the menu, an even more gigantesque new “Quick Battle” button that lead you to any team battles (CP, CTF and TDM) and yes on any servers. And it is grey, less friendly? In the Lobby, at the bottom of the menu, you will find the button to go back to the Unified battles list. I hope you followed the story so far because that was a bit tricky. Hey! Not my fault! K! The to and fro system between the lobby and the unified list which list normal battles and pro-battles will stay as it is for now. In the future, however, the unified list will only display pro-battles (renamed probably as customisable battles). Test of 8th and 9th of August We have been warned! Have we listen? N-A-H… too busy with our daily missions, which are harder to complete now. And when a tanker log on that infamous fresh morning of the 8th, then BOOM, this happened: “Hun, what this is happening with my lobby”, where is the list of battles and the servers? I can’t select my preferred battle? Doh! Maybe I should have read the pop up window, should not I? Just like the TO GAME you need to follow the clues and you will discover the code: TEST. It can’t be simpler, innit? Matchmaking announcement pop-up window in game (someone shoot at it out of frustration). This was the 2 days test of Matchmaking, announced by the video from the Nutty-One in a perfectly intelligible but beautiful Russian’s language (if it is your mother tongue :D). I did understand one word only, the last one “Spacibe” (thank you in Russian). XD, Come on, all the video in Russian! This is just so inappropriate. The grandiloquent speech was only 3 minutes long, once the translation is made it can easily be read out loud by Hazel or the commentator. Easy peasy lemon squeezy. We do appreciate the effort of having a video presenting in detail the experiment and the English subtitle, nevertheless a whimsy bit more sweat and the job is fully done! Furthermore, a truly international community would be truly proposing any thread of communication in English, why do we have to communicate in English on the forum then? The grown and confident man might be a tad shy to speak in English, and reluctant to show his Russian accent, but it is only by practicing and doing more of them that he will fight this common fear. “Oh Boy! I’m shy.” Anyway, for the non-Russian speaker, you had better switch on the subtitle, the functionality that Youtuber do not use, coz they only speak “Angleesh”. As for me, having a pea-brain of a YouTubes’ fanboy, I am without doubt clueless about this convenient feature. Soon after (and a call to the IT department for help) I managed to watch the video with EN subtitle (minus the nutty-one’s gracious voice, I mean yeah, I do prefer a music video in the background: “Run, run to the hills”. Right on the spirit of the day!). Despite this break in communication misshape, the video included everything needed to understand the in and out of the test. Now enlightened with all the new acquired knowledge about MM, I went back to the client to “Test”. I tested MM with two accounts, my main high one (a couple of M3s) and a low one (this one) over the 2 days. I came across many surprises good and bad. First of all, the test is only a partial view of the final feature, so it is hard to judge something that would evolve and hopefully trim the bad and keep the good and perfect the flaws. The test occurred during week days (Tuesday and Wednesday), with 30 to 40 players a peak time. Positive characteristics The interface is simpler, all is available on the same page, no need to search in the different servers for a battle, as there are no servers no more. This set up would be easier to implement for furthers extension of the game on mobile and tablets platform (yes, you heard it TO is going global). The lobby is a huge improvement from the unique Battle button. All the battles you enter are almost full, no need to wait for people to join as everybody join at the same time. Like this all tankers have the same opportunity to begin on the same foot and everybody will enjoy a full game. Worthy to note that when a player leaves a new one is sent quite quickly. On the other hand, nobody is added to fill in the empty spot in any team near the end of the game. In a game we finished 9 versus 10, and in total 12 players (6 in each team) played the full game, which is a good thing. On the two test days the current maps were revamped and rebalanced to accommodate all types of tanks and turrets, and they hold the same amount of tankers (20 maximum). This is quite good as the terrain and map layout offer the same opportunity and difficulty for different combat style, therefore you would not need to change equipment when sent to a random battle. I will talk about the map changes more in details in a separate chapter below. The Group option was great, to me this is better than going into battle and then invite your friend one by one, most of the time they refuse because they are currently fighting in an active battle and do not want to lose the battle found, even me when I refuse or ignore I wish I could say yes! So, you are making your friend sad (by refusing) and yourself equally (by not accepting). But, thanks to the group battle feature you can create a group of friends that will fight in battle from start to end and even more. To improve The waiting time in the battle queue of the MM needs to be hugely reduced. It would need to be more effective, because currently the overall level of player is low (below 40k per day) if the number hopefully increase, then the system needs to be able to cope with even more MM request. It is also possible that most of delays is due to the amount of people using Browsers instead of the Client. Guys, please install the TO Client it super-efficient for loading and joining battles. The group feature is not finished. We had to recreate the group for any new starting game and all player needed to leave the group in order to recreate it. It would be also a good idea to limit the rank bracket in a group the same way as the battle rank brackets to avoid abuse. When someone leaves a battle, I noticed that extremely low ranked players were added by the system to replace the tanker. Shouldn't the highest possible ranked player be invited to join? I mean, players on the losing team would really appreciate the help of a fresh and strong tanker to reverse the situation / rebalance the battle. If you get some low ranked and low equipped players (a.k.a. Dead Meat), then you might as well wish that nobody else was added to your team. In this test people can still leave battles and it seems that after a while, the system does not send any new tanker to fill in the depleting team. We might start the battle with a full team, but we still finish short. It seems that the developers have worked on this part since, as during the fiasco of Halloween, when the MM lobby was added, and the normal battle hidden, if you asked for another CFT battle right after leaving one, you were sent back to it! No escaping. The only way not to avoid this was to select another battle mode. That was highly distressing. Is this the only solution to prevent tanker to leave in the middle of a battle? I don’t think so. To me higher rewards for the losing team and more efficient team selection by the MM will prevent the desertion. The irrelevant part The 10 minutes battles length was only for the purpose of the Test. It is a trick to accumulate more data in the 2 days experiments (it’s 33% more battles of 10minutes compared to 15 minutes). Also, the fact that we were kicked out of the map at the end of the battle was only for the test. It is another trick to inflate the number of player looking for battles thus artificially stress further the MM process. So, do not worry, battle will still last 15 minutes and you will have the choice to stay in the map you just played or leave it. A third option would be nice to have, the choice of three new possible maps like other MMO games do. Time will tell. Unified list and servers merging - 11th Oct 2017 Onward The third step in the ongoing implementation of MM is the merging of the list of battle and servers. The numerous servers spread the number of battle available for your rank. Sometimes you need to look into 5 servers before finding one battle of interest. And lately, the number of servers to survey as increased, as people started to created battle in the lowest server in the attempt to complete difficult mission (“Finish first” or “Collect boxes”) with a minimum of players / competitors. The unification process provides a quick view of all the battles available across the game for your rank. As you could see after the update servers increase also the number of battle that are not fully filled. Unfortunately, this was only the first part of the unification, because in the end only the pro battle will be visible in the unified list. We had a peek 2 weeks ago during the Halloween day, where the battle menu for normal battle was only accessible via the MM lobby including the Halloween DM map (a special Halloween button was created for this purpose). Once the MM completely installed, normal battle will be available from the MM lobby and the pro-battle / customizable battle will be in the current battle unified list. To and fro system between the Unified Battle List (left-hand side) and the MM Lobby (right-hand side). Battles and Maps – 1st of December Onward The other important puzzle piece of the MM feature is the portfolio of the map in which you will be sent to play. In the V-log 151, TO hinted that they would be 20 + tailored maps available mid-November, so we could all get used to them, before the last piece: MM battle creation system. The maps are available in the game since the 1st of December. It is now confirmed that the team based battle will be played with 10 versus 10 players (10v10), while DM battle will be fitted with a total of 20 players. This is a relief as tankers previously reported a format of 5v5 with TDM battles on the test server. False alarm. The choice of 10v10 have been thoroughly explained in the v-log: less player and the outcome of the battle will be driven by few strong individuals (always resulting in unbalanced battle), while on the other hand, too many players and everybody will experience high lag. Therefore, the best trade-off to ensure a good balance and non-laggy battles is 10v10 battles. This is as good as it gets for an explanation. :D My feeling is that there is also quite a lot of good map with that amount of player, so why spending too much work on revamping them all, while we can just rework 3 or 4 famous one and tweak the rest to finally line up a good list of suitable maps. Ain’t our developers pretty lazy smart? Over the last past 12 months, the number of maps available for normal battle has been dropping gradually from 74 maps (give or take a couple) to 24. During the Quick Battle button implementation, a total of 41 maps made the cut. About 15 maps of medium size (such as Monte Carlo and Stadium), all the big map (excepted lost temple 16v16) and all the small maps (excepted sandbox 4v4), on the other hand, did not make it, and are only available from the Pro-battle creation button. During the battle unification and servers merging update, the number of maps was trimmed further down to 36 maps, this includes all the remaining maps under 16 players, so goodbye Sandbox (4v4), Pass (5v5), Rift, Sandal (6v6), Cross and Fort Knox (7v7). The August MM test displayed the list of the survivors: a group of 24 maps, including the new map called Yorkshire. It is the Day Summer theme variation of the Happy New Year 2017 map (without the huge Christmas tree and without the snow props). The 24 MM maps are the exact same as the 24 maps from the MM Test. He is the listing of the 24 maps for references with the degree of modification of the map layout when compared to the existing map. Also worth noticing that there is no "Summer Night" and "Space" themes available in normal battles. Further details on 12 MM Maps can be found on this topic Analysis and comparison of the new map changes and if you never saw the Yorkshire map in its full glory read this [special] Happy New Year! Map 2017. What is Next? From the MM puzzle remains the Group table, the Missions revamps (somehow) and MM Battle Creation (the most controversial bit, yet to come). Group creation: This we already experienced during the MM test, I speculate it will come before the MM system, but after the normal battle are removed from the Unified list. Mission revamp: The window/panel will be somehow reworked. I really hope so. Hint is that it will be only available from the normal battle lobby and you would not be able to access it during battle. We will have to wait and see. New types of missions can definitely be added, but we are now entering the realm of fantasy. MM Battle creation: To my point of, this important part will be implemented last, when everything else is set up and stable. From what we have already experienced, there is a lot of rework to be done: time for the queuing and player list selection based on players with similar experience (ranks and ratings). I don’t think the current ratings is as good as other game like the skill-based ranking system of Microsoft called TrueSkill. As you can see, in this forum topic, Share your rating!, the main driver for the efficiency is the experience gained. Accordingly, it would be probably based on the ranks and not on the speed you progress which is truly linked to your skills. Since the post crystal box schism, Alternativa has done nothing to the game, focussing mainly on TX development and letting TO unattended. Yet something has changed the course of history, we do not know what or whom triggered the changes, but by the middle of 2016, TO was not left alone anymore, TO had been given a purpose, a purpose with a will: MatchMaking. I hope you have now a better view and understanding of this long mutation process and followed this Ariadne's thread that will soon come to an end, sealing slowly but irrevocably TO 2.0’s fate. Do the old tankers, the ones that have grown and journeyed with TO’s golden age, will survive the last transition tot TO 3.0? Containers: weigh the odds

Greetings folks, Containers, as TO call them, are also known as crates or loot boxes in other online games. They provide a random reward once opened and they are acquired either through gameplay or by spending real cash. Let's have a look at this new feature and see what benefit we can get from it. TO as all the potential to change the odds value and the reward content over the time, what I have displayed below where the % in place during the Black Friday. Consequently, values shown below are mainly related to that event. Containers Containers mechanics are becoming an increasing part of games even for those which people have already paid a full price. Some games, such as Overwatch, Container gives out only "cosmetic" items, while other games, such as Star Wars Battlefront II, Container unlocks popular characters including Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. Seeking to monetise the game more via the Containers system is ok, but it sometime becomes unfair because they are the only way to get to items that you already paid for, they are converted into P2W tools or the non-monetised way to acquire them takes ages (when it is not impossible e.g. Black Friday). On TO, a F2P game, it is clear that the management is looking at this popular system to boost incomes. They launched this new paid feature during the Black Friday (23-28th of November), Containers were available in two ways: from the shop for real cash or via the game by catching the black box (an ugly customised black variant of the Gold Box). However, the drop rate was lower than usual Gold Box, which make the opportunity to catch one scarce for standard players. In the shop the Containers were available for purchase in packs under the [Containers tab]: 1 Container: 1.49 USD 10 Containers: 13.99 USD 25 Containers: 29.99 USD The rewards for that event were chosen randomly from the 15 following possibilities: Items Value in crystals or Cash ☆ 3500 crystals pack 3.5K crystals value ☆ 10.000 crystals pack 10K crystals value ☆ 125x «Speed Boost» supplies 6.25K crystals value ☆ 125x «Mine» supplies 6.25K crystals value ☆ 125x «Double Armor» supplies 6.25K crystals value ☆ 125x «Double Damage» supplies 6.25K crystals value ☆ 125x «Repair Kit» supplies 18.75K crystals value ☆ 100x of all supplies (excluding Gold Boxes) 35K crystals value or 17.5K via the garage kit ☆ 2 days of Premium 14.85K crystals value minimum or € 2 ☆ 4 days of Premium 24.75K crystals value minimum or € 3 ☆ A set of 5 Gold Boxes 5K crystals value or € 5 ☆ One of the paints available in the Garage* 1k-700k crystals value ☆ One of the paints available in the Shop* € 8-30 ☆ One of the Legendary paints no longer available for purchase(Flow, Nightmare, Moonwalker, Eternity or Red Suit) Invaluable  ☆ New animated paint «Spectrum»*(no longer available for purchase) € 60(Black Friday Bundle) * from the paints you don’t have on your account The Legendary paints spared paint so far are the one linked to e-sport or parkour competitions (Traceur and MOP’s paint) and those from yearly event. The latter ones are recycled for other TO purposes anyway. What are the probabilities to get one of the 15 items when you open one Container? At first look, you would think that you have 1 chance out of 15, which is about 6.7%. However, Maf, who have been around for quite a while and has lengthy experience about Developers mind set, proposed a more sensible approach to what the probabilities could looks like: 85% for the following items: 3.5k crystals pack, 10k crystals pack, 125x «Speed Boost» supplies, 125x «Mine» supplies, 125x «Double Armor» supplies, 125x «Double Damage» supplies, 125x «Repair Kit» supplies 15% for the following items: 100x of all supplies (excluding Gold Boxes), 2 days of Premium, 4 days of Premium, a set of 5 Gold Boxes, one of the paints available in the Garage 3% for one of the paints available in the Shop; 1% for one of the Legendary paints no longer available for purchase anywhere else («Flow», «Nightmare», «Moonwalker», «Eternity» or «Red Suit»); <1% for The new animated paint «Spectrum». The later proposal seems more legit, but let’s find out by putting the 2 theories to the test. Test of the Containers from the Black Friday The buyer craze of the black Fridays associated with the Unlimited Black Box Rain Glitch generated many youtube’s videos that provides an insight of the content of numerous Containers. I have witnessed 534 Containers opening and scrupulously noted the reward obtained. Here below are the results in percentages from the least obtained item to the most. As you can see the most received reward is 3.5K crystals with 16.1%, followed a group that hit around 9.6-10.5%. This group is comprised of: 10k crystals pack 125x «Double Armor» supplies (6.25K crystals value) 125x «Repair Kit» supplies (18.75K crystals value) 125x «Double Damage» supplies (6.25K crystals value) 125x «Speed Boost» supplies (6.25K crystals value) To make simple, I have rounded the probabilities to 10%. The first surprise is that the Repair Kit pack (with three time the crystals value or others supplies) has the same probability as the others supplies. It doesn’t make sense, is it a mistake? Second surprise, is that the 125x Mine supplies is not on that group. As a matter of fact the probability to win Mines is twice less with 5%. Did the developers thought that Mines are more powerful? Or more coveted? In my opinion I would say yes for both, but the average tankers would disagree as they wrongly underestimate the Power of the Mines. Or is it a mistake and developers have inadvertently switched the Repair Kit probabilities with the Mines? Or did they mean to have all supplies at 10%, but messed up the Mines probabilities. That won’t be the first time they cock-up anyway :D After the 125x supplies comes the x5 gold box with a value of 5K crystals. The lower probability at 7% (is about 1 chance on 15) value than the x125 supplies (DD, DA, SB) but more desired. Equally with 5.8% we have 2 days Premium (minimum 14.85k crystals value) and the 100x of all supplies (17.5K as 100 supplies kit in garage discount). For reference 1 day of Premium equals 2.5k crystals, 10 Double Armors, 10 Double Powers, 10 Speed Boosts, 10 Mines and 3 Repair Kits (plus double your battle rewards and 50% more xp). So yes, 2 days Premium worth slightly less than 100x supplies but if you play with Premium you would be able to break even with double battle rewards. Interestingly we have x125 Mines supplies with 4.9% in a close tie with Garage paint at 4.3%. It would have made more sense to have the Repair Kit here (close to one third of 10%). Then we have the 4 days of Premium (minimum 24.75K crystals value), at 2.8%, it is logically about half of the probability to get 2 days of Premium (5.8%). No surprise here. The paint that come either from the shop or the four Legendary have a very low probability: 1.3 and 0.9% respectively, while the Spectrum paint was 0.2%. Be careful the pool of sample was relatively small and only one Container out of 534 yield the Spectrum paint. In another video, a youtuber opened 284 Containers to find no Spectrum paint at all. I look at other accounts that got many Containers from the Black Box glitch and when players caught more than 400 Containers they had all obtained the Spectrum paint. But the trick is, if you have already the paint you can’t have it twice, the system will remove this option during the draw, therefore we will never know for certain if they could have got it twice within 400. Nevertheless I gave that you have 1 chance out of 400 to open the right Container that’s 16 packs of 25 Containers at 30 USD: 480 USD! But, if you feel lucky you can still get Spectrum just by opening 10 Containers (for 14 USD). I packed up the different probabilities of each items into the same group as Maf did and I found big similarities but also some few differences. Maf Experiment Difference 85% 72% Small 15% 26% Not Small 3% 1.3% Close enough 1% 0.9% Really Small <1% 0.2% Not bad, he got it wrong about the Premium 2 and 4 days, and the Mines but I can concede that there is something afoot here. To conclude, it is not 6.7% probabilities for each items but pretty close to what Maf as predicted, and like he said (below) the more valuable the items, the lower the occurrence. Since Black Friday, it is possible that now the Repair Kit and the Mines odds has been altered, and so does the % for Paints and Spectrum. Now let;s have another look at the probabilities by grouping the rewards by type, see below what is the split: Items type % Supplies 50.0% Crystals 27.7% Premium 8.6% Gold Box 6.9% Paints 6.7% You have one chance out of 2 to get Supplies, so if you are a non-druggers (one of the last), then the containers are not for you. Then crystals is the second most received reward (more than 1 chance out of 4). Then the others rewards (Premium, Gold Box, and Paints) are all about 1 chance out of 15. So only 6.7% is cosmetics, 6.9% is actually fun (Gold box) and all the rest is standard pay-to-win Tanki tricks ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ Bundle or not Bundle? A bundle with the Spectrum paint and others goodies was available during the Black Friday. So if during the event, you really wanted the Spectrum paint would it better to buy the bundle for 60 USD or try your luck with containers? Keep in mind that with the same amount of money you could buy 50 Containers. With the probabilities obtained above, lets see what 50 Containers can provide on average (I spare you with the calculation): 88k crystals 800 of each supply, 550 of Mines 10 days of Premium 15 gold boxes 2 garage paints 1 Shop or 1 Legendary paint and no Spectrum paint guaranteed By comparison the bundle proposed: 25k crystals (1 third) 500 of each supply, (2 third) 500 of Mines (about the same) 5 days of Premium (twice less) 5 gold boxes (1 third) 0 garage paint 0 Shop or Legendary paint 1 Spectrum paint guaranteed Yes, buy the bundle for the Spectrum paint, even if the bundle provides from twice to three time less than 50 Containers, it guarantees the Spectrum paint! Simply put, the gap of crystals and items of the bundle, covers the cost of the Spectrum paint. On the other hand, if you don’t care about the Spectrum paint buy 50 Containers, this will provide more items and hopefully some precious paint. If I were you I would not buy more than 50 Containers, wait for the next event, because the good thing is that next event involving Containers, the Spectrum paint will be part of the "Legendary Paints" so the probabilities to get it will increase. Now, what’s in it for the Free Player? Nothing, forget about the Container. It’s a for buyer only, pass your way. So long Mults…

Thanks. Yes they do care when it is about giving an edge to their game. Plz stay on topic. Plz stay on topic.
  11. So far you are only making assumption on little ground, consequently you have predicted nothing and then it is a good story.
  12. Nives has not played on the real Madness...but if we replace the bad one with the real one, I'm good with that.
  13. Even the greatest author are doing it. To my knowledge, Agatha Christie even did it twice, once with Hercule Poirot and another time (I don't remember the name of the book).

    Stuck [Tankiverse fanfic]

Nice work. Good flow, it looks like a solid and balanced piece. As mark said you could use other words to express frustration, you could have invented your own expression inspired from the tankiverse. Just an example: "We are so going to be in a world of ****," => We are so going to be in a world of Tank" or "We are so going to be in sent to WOT",
  17. Brest and Highways too. Tribute would be better though. Was it not always? Nope, only those 24 maps. Only those 24 maps will be in the future MM system (10v10). All the others will available from the customized list.
  18. The changes to the maps came earlier than I expected! Damn it, i can scrap my article.

Thanks for your feedback. However we already know all of it. Yes, we used "the dictator" for inspiration to build the TLM and in fact there is no other type of humor magazine that we could actually be more inspired from. So No, we are not ashamed. "Viva el dictator" We already know that we had good humor :P and also I'm the king of illustration (bow). The title is misleading, but it has a purpose and a story behind it, and certainly it was intriguing (click-bait 101). Initially I was looking for something more in the line of "Tanki bar talks", "hear-says" with a relation to WikiLeaks (TankiLeaks). Somehow I like magical stories that starts in bars and pubs like "The Leaky Cauldron" and looked for a mucky touch so we choose "The Leacky Mult". In the end what counts is people will learn and know what to expect when they see the magic words with a new edition. It's like "The Dictator", it was a misleading title in the first place too, but it build its reputation overtime along side its followers. Or, maybe we really, really wanted to write for the dictator and maybe we can't because we are mults, so we created our own, however with a twist to it. Maybe if you read more carefully you will see that certain article go further than what the story tell ... Like my Grandmother used to say: You don't need a silver fork to eat good potatoes.

"You can laugh about everything but not with everyone," - Pierre Desproges Manifesto Once upon a time, two tankers, @Illuminati and @Merovingian met in a trendy private club in Tanki Online. Straight away their deep passion for writing, coupled with a love of the beautiful English grammar and combined with the search for The Truth (with two capital T) steered them to form a writing project together that would publish accurate and true information. What was at first just a small idea shaped itself into an independent Newspaper named The Leaky Mult. The aim of this journal is to resolve mysteries, comment on new updates, test new features, unearth conspiracies and report without bias the information its dear readers so desperately want. We will not publish on a regular basis, more likely when articles are ready to be shared. There will be no limitations to our investigations, we will not take No for an answer, we will expose the wrongdoing and we will fight the injustice (named and shamed). And most of all we would protect the free player from the nutty developer... and... apparently the (noob) buyer. Yes, they are our friends too. I didn’t want to add them, but my valuable colleague, Illuminati, forced me and I can’t really refuse. This is because he is the noob buyer who supplies the journal’s paper, pens, Oreos and electricity that are vital to our endeavour. When the truth is too hot, the conspiracy too deep, the story too good to be true or the scandal too ineffable, we will publish them under the “The Leaky Mult” (TLM). Why? Simply because TLM is not afraid of Them and it is protected by forces too high to be comprehended: a mega-super server too remote (in Magadan) to be DDOSed, a giant Fluffy guard (our 3-headed pet dog on loan from Hagrid), several amulets from Zelda and a mouse trap (the latter is a bit excessive but just in case, we never know). Oh readers, be ready... and be vigilant, because today it is the very first publication, el numero uno, also make sure you are already seated before you start to read the latest news. One last thing before you cast your eyes over the precious content exposed; our outrageously overpaid lawyers advised us to add the relevant disclaimers that you will find below in the spoiler. You are required to read them very carefully so we have our backs covered. Thanks in advance. Disclaimers (must read!): ⚜ Tankileaks: Overdrivegate by The Merovingian Several leaked documents obtained by your brave Reporters, moneying a substantial amount of crystals (thank you Illuminati for providing the crystals! (such a noob buyer, but I love you)), revealed that TO’s tank factory had fitted faulty Overdrives to numerous hulls. All the production lines held in its main factory near Molotov have been impacted during the last six months. The faults, affecting the tanks, range from the Overdrive simply refusing to operate its magic to the explosion of the device thus pulverising in the process the poor and unaware tankers. One of the key documents leaked, is a report of a meeting of TO high executives, which detailed the extent of the problem. Furthermore, the report discloses that TO’s administration knew about the current issue at hand, for a very long time, nevertheless, TO decided to downgrade the risk during a previous assessment. The Overdrive is believed to be manufactured by an Alternativa’s subsidiary company called Electrolux Inc. The supplier has, after a mutual agreement with its client, sold out of specification devices for a cheaper price. After the apparition of report about self-exploding tanks, TO has secretly started to recall some of the malfunctioning tanks identified and stopped installing faulty Overdrives. Several tankers told TLM that TO’s consumer service contacted them with a back-story about a free check-up offered to their best customer. Once contacted ,TO’s spin doctor has not yet confirm or infirm these allegations. It is our understanding that TO management is currently holding an emergency meeting with its top executives. Not much luck either with Ajnin Dommurof, the CEO of Electrolux INC, has not yet responded to the TLM’s request for comment on the explosive matter. Via mobile phone, we managed to contact Tiklee You, the president of the Happy Tankers Club (HTC), for comment. Here below the answers provided. “We cannot comment right now as we do not hold the full picture of the affair. However, we can say that we have already assigned our most competent lawyers on the case. If this ‘fake news’ turned out to be true, we will swiftly act on and fill a class action against TO, pursuing them to court for malpractice, incompetence and monkeyshine.” he said with a touch of irritation. “To our HTC members, our prime recommendation is to play in deactivated Overdrive battle or to avoid its activation until more evidences are gathered on the root cause!” he added with the utmost gravity. The tanker community needs to know that they are in danger and we decided to publish the story to expose this scandal, now known as the Overdrivegate. This is a Breaking news first reported by your brave and loyal TLM Reporters, reporting from a secured location. So long mult... △ EX-CM Encountered in Siberia by Illuminati As you all know, our former Community Manager @Cedric Debono suddenly announced that he would be leaving the game a few months ago, with absolutely no warning or given reasons. Though the replacement drafted in by Tanki HQ is a worthy replacement (the honourable ), many tankers were unnerved by Cedric's sudden disappearance. There has been plenty of speculation regarding this and many rumours have been circulating around the International Community. Some wisely pointed out that all good things come to an end, whereas others argued that this was "karma" for the way that Cedric had so abruptly replaced his predecessor, @semyonkirov. Other less well-informed individuals desperately tried to make people understand that Cedric was in fact a hacker, because he changed ranks whenever he apparently felt like it. They reasoned that he was being brought to justice for these crimes. Even with all these speculations, nothing that would point truth-seekers in the right direction has ever surfaced. Until now. Part of Russia is known as Siberia, which is a cold and vast wilderness stretching for many thousands of miles. In the southern section of this area lives the Snow Leopard, also known as the Irbis. Tanki HQ send out specially-trained hunters to provide materials for garage paints (they aren't sourced from Google Images, contrary to popular belief). It was on one such mission that a hunter accidentally stumbled across a battered complex while seeking shelter during a fierce storm. While carefully making his way around, he eventually pushed against a worn door on which a faded message could be read. "ПСИХИАТРИЧЕСКУЮ БОЛЬНИЦУ" (Mental Asylum) He decided to continue inside anyway. Perhaps he had a curious nature? Or maybe it was an overdose of HQ's famous own brand of distilled potato juice? No one will ever know the truth. The video recording beamed out to us by his helmet camera showed him moving through the seemingly abandoned rooms. He eventually came across a passage lined with rows of cell-like compartments on either side. Words were visible above the doors. Words such as "Reaper", "Singing Crocodile", "Archangel", "Too Slow" or even "Not Khalifa" could be seen. All the doors were closed and locked. Except one. At the far end of the corridor, one of the doors was twisted and wrecked as if something had torn it apart in a wild rage. The video camera revealed ominous words written over the door frame. "The De-boner" As the hunter stopped before the open door, a low wail began to develop, like the gold box siren. The hunter started in surprise, turned towards the noise and appeared to shine his flashlight down the passage. Thankfully for us, his video camera stopped recording at this point. Thanks to the sacrifice of the poor hunter, we can now theorise that @Cedric Debono was removed from power due to a common mental disorder among Tanki Helpers (an overdose of gold boxes is often the cause) and drastic actions were taken to make sure he was kept securely. Unfortunately, due to the evidence we now have, it is believed that our EX-CM is now at large. Please do come forward if you have any information regarding his whereabouts. ⚜ Angry Tankers are Building Walls on Maps! by The Merovingian A peculiar tanker activity on TO has been reported to us in the shape of walls being built on maps. Hearsay or true story? Your awesome and dedicated Reporters decided to pack up and investigate in situ. We set off promptly to a designated map after gathering the essentials in a backpack: toothbrush, Oreos, distilled potato juice x2, maps, GPS and a pair of binoculars. Upon the careful and attentive observation of an active CTF battle, we can confirm that the rumour is true. It seems that only the Tankers from the Blue Team are responsible for this strange behaviour. With our Press badge accreditation, a white flag, and hands up high in the air, we headed on to the battlefield to speak first with the Blue team leader. We stepped in self-assured, nevertheless with a sentiment of uneasiness stuck in our mind until we met him in his HQ. His testimony was eloquent: “We are fed up with the mults, the sabotage and all the bad Reds that come to our base and try to steal our Flag. They already have one, why do they need another one? They come in our neighbourhood and generate an atmosphere of insecurity, as they bring druggers with them! These red marauders break in our home to bag our crystals and poach our Gold Boxes.” To give our reader a sense of his distress and motivation he added: “Enough is enough! We had to take matters into our own hands as the Security Council President of the United Tanki Community (UTC), Mr Forks, was not doing his job in time.” We returned safely to our camp before deciding to interview the chief of the Red team on the opposite side of the wall to learn more about the other side of the story. His testimony was equally silver-tongued: “This is ridiculous and unfair to us; the map belongs to everybody and we should be allowed to circulate freely in any part of it. The Blues are just a bunch of racist hillbillies. They are the one that bring druggers here, not us, we do not have any of this scum among our ranks. Building walls is illegal and what Mr Forks is doing to solve this issue? At the moment, nothing!” He concluded with a menacing tone: “If the status quo remains, something really bad is going to happen!” We left the combat zone with a better understanding of the conflict and headed to Perm to pursue our investigation further and how it was possible to modify the map layout and construct walls. Our local (and highly secret) source, very (very) close to the TO’s developer group, has mentioned that the Map Making Guide (written by @Adriel.RB and published in the NP Issue 69) was being used by the angry tankers to raise new walls. When the Blue team sense that they are losing the battle, they play this ultimate trump card by activating the hacking programme called “The Wall”, then they use it following the instruction from the Map Making Guide and start building the protective rampart in the effort to lock down their base. It is not yet confirmed who created the rogue program and how it was installed on the Tanki servers in the first place. However, an anonymous tip hushed that a careless developer opened a phishing email containing a malware, which once activated allowed the hacker to access the servers. The phishing message claimed that the recipient has won his weight in fresh Siberian potatoes, and need to claim its price quickly by clicking on the link provided: “Lucky winner, quick, claim your weight in fresh Siberian potatoes here!”. The clues discovered in the program core hinted to a Russian hacker gang self-named: Pозовый Oшибочный (Pink Flawed). "We wish to clarify to TO users that the hack program will be removed during the next planned update and that we will continue to work to ensure such a scenario is not repeated. A patch will fix and stop any further hacking attempt." a TO official told the TLM. Furthermore, Mr Forks has agreed to fund the deployment of additional battle moderators to monitor any suspicious activity from the Blue team. Eventually, tankers would be able to play normally after the server update. Keep your fingers crossed so as to not jinx the process with a new Tankipocalypse. △ Bermuda Triangle Blamed for Disappearing Tankers by Illuminati Three illustrious tankers mysteriously disappeared after today's server restart while attempting to prove their claims that they'd watched a Russian Battle Moderator fly hacking in a Silence CTF game. Yesterday evening, one of our agents had managed to pull one of the three aside to acquire some detailed information on what they had supposedly been witness to. In a state of great excitement, one of the tankers spoke at length about how they had watched awe-struck as a mod had lazily jumped vertically to catch a Black Gold Box before performing several barrel rolls in mid-air before flying around the map showing off his new "Helper of the Month" paint. "It was both amazing and horrifying at the same time!" exclaimed one tanker. "I mean, he had clearly practiced those flying techniques before". This witness, striving for justice (and spurred on by the fact that this Battle Mod had banned his alternate account forever for being "multing" in a Parkour game), apparently found two other likeminded individuals and swore to bring the Mod down. They apparently decided to bait a trap, each purchasing several Gold Boxes to drop when they saw the Mod in-battle. One had readied his recording system as they watched and waited. According to reports, they waited for several hours in the same battle. Then, they just randomly disappeared. One minute all three could be seen, perched high on one of the buildings where they had parkoured up to. The next moment, none of them could be found. They had simply vanished. We managed to collect several interesting, if conflicting, eyewitness reports. A player known as @I3est insisted that he had seen lightning come down from above, striking the trio of tankers and reducing their hulls to ashes. He was adamant that it was judgement from the Tanki gods and that Armageddon was fast approaching. Unfortunately, @CooperO rushed over before we could get anything more, explaining that she was @I3est's companion and that he was suffering from a mental disorder. Another witness claimed that a fiery chariot had rushed down and taken them to Tanki Heaven because of their honourable effort to seek justice. Tanki Heaven (the witness said) is where gold boxes fall all the time, drugs are unlimited and everyone is a Helper. One logical report simply said that the three tankers had simply tired of their vigil and eventually fallen asleep, toppling over the edge to their deaths. We also decided to interview the Russian Battle Moderation section to find out their thoughts on the incident. However, after waiting outside their HQ for over an hour without any luck whatsoever (and with the sounds of revelry from within showing no signs of ceasing), I contacted the team via email instead. This was the response to the first email I sent. However, I persevered and emailed back several different times. Finally, I was rewarded with this. According to these professionals the cause of the tankers' disappearance is now known. After contacting them further, I received the devastating news that there is no hope for recovering the lost players. Unfortunately (according to the RU Team), they do not know enough about the Bermuda Triangle to be able to tackle the problems that it is causing. Please do come forward if you have any information regarding this incident. Remember to watch your step in-game as well - you may be the next person to be claimed by the mysterious Bermuda Triangle! ⚜ Parkourist Sues Map Maker by The Merovingian Each year, since 2013, the whole community waits with impatience for the return of the Masters of Parkour (MOP). And this year (2017) is certainly not different from any others. Teams prep’ed their tanks, polished clean their precious MOP paint and planned carefully the series of tricks that they will record in the hope of securing one of the 10 Golden tickets to the Finals. Ten teams managed to do so. On the final day, at the apex of this audacious and daring event celebrating the teamwork and craftsmanship of the prominent Parkourists of the nation, a dramatic incident occurred. About the middle of the live stream, when the suspense was rising its crescendo, the jumper, @Hate from the 63FlyingParkourists team, got a serious injury resulting from the free-fall: watch here. At first it looked like the jumper was going to succeed and land safely on the roof of the building. But against all anticipation, the tank melted through the edges of the building as if it was being sucked up by some mysterious force, and then spitted straight out like a shell from a magnum. The jumper was taken by surprise and, not anticipating the fall, crashed flat on the ground. After a moment of stupor, which lasted only a couple of seconds but felt as lengthy as reading a full @GoldRock’s text wall, the audience stood up in anguish. Later when we asked some of the member of the audience to comment on the incident, a chocked tanker declared to TLM: “At that moment, my heart skipped a beat, and I asked myself if the Parkourist was not dead! We thought it was the case, as the tank didn’t budge for a while. But when it started to move again, then we knew he would make it. What a relief!” Another aficionado of the discipline watching the live stream commented on the incident: “This was an accident waiting to happen, the maps are so poorly designed that the hitbox of some building do not match its visible wall. I have forbidden my son to take part in such activity just because of that (and he is under 13 years old).” Because of the injury resulting from the misconception of the building hitbox, the team 63FlyingParkourists was not able to complete the second round, hence losing crucial points required to reach the top 3. This snag caused them to finish on the lower end of the scoreboard. The team decided to launch a lawsuit against the map maker on the grounds of blatant negligence and disrespect of buildings regulation for the practice of Parkour activity. They are asking for 10,000,000 crystals as for punitive measures, and another extra 5,000,000 for actual damages. A deeper investigation undertaken by our dedicated and picky Reporters, unearthed a bundle of dusty files buried under a huge pile of rotten potatoes, amid the TO archives room. Those reports, issued by the Building Regulation Organisation (BRO) and written by the head of the Building Safety (BS) department, Mr @DageLV, list scrupulously and in abundant details the misconception of numerous roof hitbox across many Tanki’s map. We don’t want to eat the potato before it is fried, but with all the evidence available against the map maker, it looks like it is a done deal for the plaintiff. We wish @Hate a prompt recovery and hope to see him back on the saddle soon. If you have any question regarding TLM, please leave a post below.
