What about items that we go from containers?

If the devs gave you those rewards, they have every right to take them back. If you earned those rewards, you have every right to keep them.

That's not true. You didn't earn any of those things, I don't see why you should keep them. I too would love to keep what I got, but it's neither fair for other players nor is it good for game economy/balance.

There was a bug where goldboxes were dropping all the time in all battles. Literally every five seconds a gold would drop. You would get containers from catching these golds, and from containers you could get crystals, supplies, premium time, or paints (including some rare and Shop paints). Since it was extremely easy to catch golds (I got 85 in an hour, this guy got 708), players got a huge amount of free stuff (think hundreds of supplies, tens of thousands of crystals, dozens of gold supply, it was ridiculous). Now the servers are down and the devs are removing all of these things from the accounts of players.

Exactly, you don't deserve them. How is it fair that you got for free things that other people paid for with their hard-earned money?

They're deleting all the exploited containers from the accounts of several thousand players . . . it's going to take a while.

Also, I just checked, the Chainmail paint that I got from a container is now gone. So it looks like they are removing our things. On the other hand the Strawberry paint on my alt is still there, so it looks like the server is going to be down for some more time.

The thing is they DIDN'T know what would happen. That's why they shut down the servers on such short notice, and as community manager, it's Nives's job to give us at least some idea of what's going on.

When server restarted earlier today there were golds dropping in all battles 24/7. They would give you containers, from which you could get a bunch of free stuff. So players collected hundreds of containers and got a huge amount of free crystals, supplies, premium, and some rare paints in the course of about an hour. Tanki realized what happened and shut down the servers, presumably to fix the whole mess. Nives wrote it would take 2 hours. One can only imagine this is a bug, otherwise why would the servers be shut down?

It's still amazing how that managed to slip through . . . just one battle on the test server could expose it. From the topic: "The chance for the Black Box to drop is the same as the Gold Box now."

I think it would be a good idea to let players keep crystals, supplies, and premium, but take away the rare paints. Even though many of us got lots of free crystals, I don't think it will break the economy much, as only a fraction of TO players were on. Getting buyer paints for free is unfair though.

It's kind of strange though. If it was a programming error, the goldbox drop rate would have been changed (someone added an extra 0 by accident). But goldboxes are triggered by increases in battle fund, and during the event it seemed that golds would drop regardless of how often the fund increased. It makes me think this "bug" was an inside job . . .

I was a Dictator driver all right but I don't think I spent much time on the roof. Most of the golds I got were on the beach. :) On the subject of how to fix this mess, I think Tanki can take away all the containers earned, and then give everyone, regardless of whether they entered the game or not, 5-10 containers so it's fair to everyone. Of course there will still need to be a way to reimburse the buyers . . .

Except no one knew it was a bug for sure. If they put a notice saying "this is a bug don't exploit it" it would be different, but clearly that isn't the case. I first thought it was a prank by someone and once I saw that golds didn't give crystals, I ignored them and tried to just play the game. Only after the battle ended did I realize what happened.
