Petition to keep flash player !!!

The thing is they’re out of time. Flash is going out and they have to keep the game going somehow. It’s clear from things like the multiple delays of the launch of Ares that it takes a very, very long time for the devs to develop completely new features at the moment. That’s why the improving of the HTML5 version has been so slow. For various reasons they just don’t have the manpower. Yet they simply have no other choice than to go with it. The devs have been promising for a long time now that once Flash is fully phased out they’ll be able to develop HTML5 quicker. Time will tell if that’s true, but one can always hope.

    Ultra Weekend August

This is clearly for hardcore, full-time players with maximal resources only. Literally no interest for anyone else.

Is the new HTML5 better than Flash?

Yeah, I gotta say I understand the transition is challenging and I am humbled when I realize the history of this game. My brother has been playing this game for 5 years, and from talking to him it feels like the devs have been creating a new game out of an old one. And that must've been quite a shock for those who saw it happen. So in a way I understand the feeling that "Tanki is dead". I guess I'm just the lone player on this forum who's from the "new breed", and admittedly it seems hard to tell how many new players this game has. I just hope it survives the death of Flash.

Is the new HTML5 better than Flash?

As someone who first learned to play on HTML5 and who uses HTML5, I think that neither client is objectively superior to the other. It’s only a question of familiarity. To me the Flash version looks clunky, cluttered and hard to navigate. Playing in it is a real pain, the feel is completely different and I’m unable to play at the same level as I do in HTML5. The most off-putting things are a harder to read interface and the weird lag in camera movement (I use mouse controls). Not to mention, of course, the lack of radar and tank outlines. Ironic isn’t it? My point is not that the Flash version is worse than the HTML5 version, not at all. What I mean is that it’s different. Very different. I understand why it’s so hard for people to switch over. But again, that doesn’t mean the HTML5 version is worse. In my case I’d choose HTML5 over the Flash any time of the day. Yes it looks watered down, the loading times are long, and some features are missing but at the end of the day it’s all very manageable. To me the Flash version’s only true advantage is a way better designed pro battle menu, but since I don’t use those it doesn’t affect me. tl;dr: I can’t play on Flash, so to each their own I guess.

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

Thanks for confirming, otherwise it would have seemed like a change that came out of nowhere. I suppose this might be a sign they're slowly trying to harmonize the behaviour of the turret. While it worries me a bit as someone who first learned to use Shaft in HTML5, it's probably a good sign for the majority of players. Having had more time to test it out, it doesn't seem to affect my gameplay too much, as I don't think the extra time to move was enough for me to dodge shots before anyways. But it sure is annoying to be just stuck there waiting for the camera to come back.

    Let's Discuss Shaft!

Apparently they made a small tweak to the behaviour of Shaft in HTML5 this update. Now after a sniping shot the tank is impossible to move until the camera is fully unzoomed. Before it was possible to move as soon as the shot was fired. Makes a pretty significant difference in terms of feel since I can't retreat as fast as before, but it's no biggie as I'm already getting used to it. I assume this is how the turret behaved in Flash already?...

    Bugs and Glitches Reports

I'm getting the same issue, glad to see I'm not the only one....
  8. In HTML5 your team is always blue and enemy team is always red. I can tell you it's a bit confusing when making a discord call with a player who's on Flash. But other than that, honestly I prefer being always blue.

vulcan's incendiary band and fire immunity

I've never used this augment so I don't know, but does that drawback affect significantly the efficiency of the turret? Especially when the buffs it has to balance against are infinite shooting and free fire damage?

vulcan's incendiary band and fire immunity

To me it doesn’t matter whether the way it works makes sense or not. The issue is that the incendiary band/fire immunity combo has no downsides whatsoever. It is a straight up buff. The majority of augments have a disadvantage of some sort to balance their advantages. Simple as that. If I understand well, this, along with the changes that were brought to many augments, simply means that moving forward augments are going to be just that, power buffs that make the turret more powerful than its base form. Isn’t it?
  11. I'm a lieutenant colonel and I think this might be good for the rank I'm at. Before I could upgrade to Major, I was stuck with maxed out Mk. 4 equipment for quite some time, while the players I was up against were getting progressively stronger. Now I finally have access to Mk.5, but considering the other players routinely have Mk.7 equipment, I cannot help but feel the faster I level up the better. Of course once I start getting paired up with legends it's gonna become a whole other problem... but in the meantime I think ranking up faster is good for me. I don't have nearly as much experience as most people here though, so I could be wrong.
  12. From a business perspective this update makes sense. It’s interesting how it basically tricks players, but I do think it will achieve its goal of motivating more players to play. Ranking up is one of the major motivations to play. Any kind of boost is appealing so I don’t think the majority of players will realize the downside of it. It’ll be interesting to see what things look like when the dust settles though. I’ll try playing the way I usually do (just the daily missions) and see how it impacts my account.
  13. I don't like to play in ASL or TDM so I quit them upon entry, unless I have to for my missions. Other than that, I make a point to stay in the battle no matter what. Even when my team is woefully underpowered, I see it as a challenge to see how much I can do in those conditions. In my eyes the only real cost of being in a losing battle is the d/l it gives you, but that's not too important to me since it doesn't really mean anything. I think players often leave a challenging battle too quickly (it's too common to see one player or more quit as soon as one single enemy goal/flag is made when everything can still change). Of course it's frustrating to lose, but I find rewarding when we manage to win against a stronger team.

    Augments are back!

This is a great compromise, the containers still are more appealing than before with the possibility to get augments while the players who want specific augments can invest into it. I'm really happy for this!

    Supplies Should Be Cheaper

I agree it sucks that supplies seldom pay for themselves, and it can be very tough to go broke on both crystals and supplies. That being said I believe that once you reach a high enough rank the weekly containers give enough supplies to be competitive in challenges and the game, so I think the balance is fair...

    Unfortunate news

Thank you so much for your feedback and clarifications. I certainly understand why it is difficult to translate a game into a completely different language while keeping alive a dying version... I didn't realize the latter task was so energy consuming. It's certainly a tricky situation... I think the important thing is that players have the assurance that the features they miss from Flash will be integrated into HTML5. Judging from the feedback you have given and the other thread devoted to getting player feedback, it seems to me things are going in the right direction. Also, to promote phasing out, maybe one thing would be to showcase more the HTML5 version? From what I understand eSports still use the Flash version for the presentation, for instance.
  17. I joined the game in December 2019, and I discovered it on HTML5 first. I honestly prefer it to Flash. The HTML5 UI is a lot more pleasing and modern, even if some of the menus like the Garage in particular look very simplistic, and it is straightforward to navigate. I also prefer the HTML5 battle UI (those tank highlights are so convenient honestly). However: - The camera is very annoying to learn. Apparently it's not that way on Flash. There should be an option to have it like in Flash. - It would be great to have post-battle chat, like in the Flash version. - I assume this is work in progress, but Rugby and Flag still need some kind of on-screen indicator that the flag/ball is taken. - More of suggestion: Since some people are complaining about the "feel" of the HTML5 version (which I personally like, I'll take fantasy over realism any time of the day) compared to the Flash version, it might be worth developing a "legacy" interface that looks more militaristic. Pretty sure all these have been mentioned multiple times already. But for me as an HTML5 player, those are the things from Flash I would like to have.

    Unfortunate news

If the situation of the Flash version is so dire, then it seems clear to me that you need to prioritize making the html5 version into a complete substitute of the Flash version. I am a newer player who discovered the game in html5, and I gotta say, I very much prefer it to the flash version. But when I see just how different the two versions are and how there's several features on Flash that are absent from the html5 version, it's no wonder people are reticent to move. Not to mention those who just cannot play on html5 because of lag. You NEED to make that move as easy as possible for them. Every feature should be carried over. Try to make an alternate Flash-like interface for Html5. Anything to remove the cost of leaving Flash behind. You have to make a compromise.
