  1. This is absolutely not true. There is a lot of indie companies and smaller ventures that make stuff for the love of gaming, producing free or low cost games with no in-game purchases. They all know that they could build a nefarious cash grab operation with loot boxes, garage/ vault focus, as well as mesmerizing effects and animations. But they don’t. They want to express their creativity, and they get their personal reward, not in cash, but in cool communities and their own little game saga. If you look into the owners and ownership history of Alternativa, you will find an interesting gallery of people. Some of the devs that started the company now have separate ventures that sell consultancy service to other game platforms for maximizing money extraction from player bases. So… Let’s just say any hope of Tanki changing for the better is a wild dream. In fact the game will continue to be at the forefront of cynicism, using old and new tricks to prey on human weaknesses. PS: If you think you are immune to these pressures, look at the people complaining about the reward drop from 15 to 3 ultras for the Ice Age event. This is not really about game progress, it is about addiction. Addiction, for example, to the bright orange animation + short lag before an exotic box opens. This is pure dopamine farming. And many people are unaware how EXTREMELY effective it is. So are you still hungry for your loot box dopamine fix? Well then now you better buy some tankoins.
  2. Well written, @krokorok. The idea of playing 30 min every day to access all weekly and event rewards is pure fantasy to most players. Personally I dislike this kind of daily grind strongly, it takes away the joy and creates fatigue. This includes mini-games, such as the lollipop hunt with the same missions every damn day for weeks. Like… this is not my job. I will try to maximize rewards when I do play, but only within the confines of having fun, and at my own leisure. Usually this means passing on a lot of “possible rewards”. And also now I need my few tankoins for upgrading my garage!
  3. This is not an accusation, but do we have reason to trust that this lottery is done fair and square? Sure I've seen lists of winners in the pasts, but they were just Bills and Bobs to me (and I have never been one of them).
  4. I did agree with this reasoning before the recent updates, but no longer as they have implemented garage upgrade costs in TK, and you can expect more such costs to come. That is my whole point. With 1k TK you can max out a garage at current upgrade costs, and another thousand TK will probably take you quite a ways with future costs to come. The value of this is a lot higher than any fund could possibly be. I consider the"statistically free" argument highly relevant, and if I had 10k TK I would buy the 990 entry instantly, no matter how poor the prizes. Probably also if I had 3-4k. But with mostly <2000 TK balances, the fund is gonna be a hard pass even with it it reaches level 50, at least on any non-legend account wit a lot of stuff missing in garage.
  5. I get the idea of this, but the fund is not a true freeroll. Only 50% of the tankoin (TK) entry fee goes towards the fund at tiers 2 (2990 TK) and 3 (19990 TK) purchases. The true payback of the fund is hard to predict since you would have to know the percentage of 1st/2nd/3rd tier entries, but I don't think it will be >80%. (factoring in the million added at intervals). And 80% is certainly not bad, but it does not cement your argument, because it presupposes that tankoin is a readily available asset to all players to speculate with. And that is not the case. The newly added TK cost for upgrading turrets and hulls should be consider as a warning. This is the first time in Tanki history that regular, in-game progress has been tied, not to crystals, but to the separate, monetized currency of TK (outside of module slots, which have been readily available in minigames etc.) I see no reason why TK pricing would not be implemented for drones, augments, grenades & other dazzling future inventions. And not to give you ideas, but why should not the much anticipated contract missions turn out to be bought with TK? In addition to being a long time player with a probably extensive economy, you are also a helper, and as such you receive TK compensation. I don't think you are in a position to advice plebs on how to spend this very limited resource.
  6. Please describe to me in words how firebird or freeze has more complex considerations to make than this (non-exhaustive) list. Skill VS toxicity factor should be maintained as two separate discussions. I'm not a magnum main, but I have seen quite a few extremely annoying, offensive magnum players that support pushes and do forward defense. I don't consider the learning curve for mastering this turret to be among the shorter ones, at least compared too melee's. End game skills for all turrets is in any case understanding your potential for contributing toward game mode objective i.e.; situational awareness, understanding pressure waves and you role in these, team dynamics and other players individual style, garage spreads, etc etc. I would say the main problem is that 99.9% of MM games are played without team comms, which greatly reduce the importance of said understanding. Along with the fact that you have only 60 seconds and one chance to choose your gear, after looking at stats to consider hundreds of augments and other team variables. This leads many players to pursue individual incentives, and magnum certainly is not a bad option if you want to hide behind mines in a corner. But neither is shaft or scorpion. Selfish play is the true toxicity of Tanki, and I think getting rid of it is more or less impossible.
  7. Assuming they all have the same intra-rarity drop rate, it would make sense that you see paints more often. There are a more of them. But I do remember that turret augments were the rarest things I got in shard containers in 2021 from the epic category Well this is pretty easy to backtrack on any account without bookkeeping. In a full legendary pool there is 129 paints and 80 turret augments, aka 62% paint/ 38% aug. On my lower rank accounts this number actually corresponds well with pools, and I calculated the split to be 55/45 in favor of paint drops across accounts. (This is without factoring in that turret augs are even removed from the legendary pool during tutorial, where there is quite a container rush). On my two legend account this number is way off, coming in at something like 85/15 in favor of paints. Now I guess a lot of the augments are recently added, and since I seldom play these accounts I haven't had a chance to unlock the new stuff. But the possibility of drop chances being nerfed as an account progresses can't be ruled out. However as 1 out of 210 legendary items, 100k crystals should drop 1 out of 21 000 standard containers if we assume a true, flat rng. I would say my experience makes this a near impossibility. I can't count how many of these I received like with paints and augs, but I would suggest the actual intra-category chance for 100k to be more like 10%. Or maybe I just have a good IP? I certainly did well in online poker ?
  8. Thanks. Interesting. I would have expected container category rates not to drop as content pools were emptied, rather that category was drawn first, and then content within that remaining pool by second draw. I also struggle to make sense of 'one single true rng draw' from my own experience with standard containers. I have received at least ten 100k crystal rewards across mostly low rank accounts for the last year. As there are 200+ other items in the legendary pool, that would mean I should have gotten 2000+ legendary rewards, which I certainly haven't. Paints also seem disproportionately more common than turret augments in this category. Small, unscientific sample of course, but pretty strong gut about this.
  9. I don't know if it's intentional but normal containers have had the nerf it received in January reverted with this patch. It can now get back-to-back rewards from rarities other than common. So expect to see more uncommons when opening containers. A nice change for people who want supplies. I don't understand what this part of patch notes even means. I thought maybe you would now unlock all hulls and turrets from your first containers during tutorial. Can you please explain what "missing equipment" is, and how you deduce what you did from this sentence with regards to rng frequency?
  10. @Venerable Thanks. I consider your last couple posts to be honest and in good faith, even if your position is still not entirely clear to me. @Jeers4U As this thread itself suggests, I think a lot of people have a desire to play Tanki like it was a traditional FPS with equal terms. And of a Instead of a Paris-Dakkar on foot, I would suggest that the f2p experience is more like a a campaign mode game where your next mission is always to go out and face the newly released OP crap. P2w's are bosses, and the f2p is the first person hero struggling though her journey for equalization. But as you point out, if (read: when) you are so lucky to get the latest item, it will be nerfed, and a new shiny toy will appear. This is the dev playbook to avoid power creep, while keeping sadists and vengeance-seekers swiping. In the campaign game Tanki there is no end boss, your quest will never be over, and there will never be equality and justice in the kingdom.
  11. @Venerable Bro I don't want it to seem like I'm going after you or something. But why do you even write? This is literally your text: 1st paragraph: This is not a problem 2nd paragraph: This is not a problem. 3rd paragraph: It's a problem, alright. But you cant fix it. @Jeers4U's position is clear and concise. If you disagree with him(?), you should have the courtesy to make your position the same. Or stay out of it.
  12. No thank you, judge. I rest my case.
  13. Not a clue. Lexical simply refers to the concrete meaning of words, as defined in dictionaries or other reference works. (Conscious) lexical abuse would be would be when someone points to one definition of a word and claim that this was how they utilized it, when in fact it was not. Since Venerable has asked me to point out bad faith in his post, let's look at this one instance. Venerable claimed that in this sentence: the word voluntarily actually ment the following : So lets look at his sentence with this definition, and see what happens: "[Helpers] receive a compensation for the work they do, out of their own free will Now that obviously doesn't make sense. No one has claimed or suspected that helpers are forced to work for Tanki. The word 'voluntary' can in fact not occur in conjunction with the word 'work', when utilized in this lexical meaning. That would be a pleonasm, because work is by definition undertaken by one's own free will. In the same way, there is nothing called 'involuntary work'. That would be a euphemism for slavery. What Venerable did here may appear innocent, but really it us underhand tactics. It makes it very hard to go after him without seeming petty and pedantic. And if you take the bait, you will be derailing from topic yourself. This kind of diversion of discussion is just one among a whole range of more sinister methods that site reps use to distract from critique or icky subjects. And as you can see, very effective at that.
  14. You are totally disregarding that there exists an in-game economy. It is more or less impossible to play without completing missions on several levels. You have to at least look at these reward structures and see how they relate to your overall supply consumption. My suggested solution is adopt a play style that maximizes your reward per game played - certainly enough to support defender drone use over time, possibly even crisis. And while I appreciate that this solution is not for everyone, your request to sustain your supply consumption through battle reward crystals alone is just naive.
