As much as I'd like to see the old look again, I don't think I'll be sitting fine with the idea that everyone's Shaft will look like that (considering its infamous reputation back in pre-rebalance). Maybe for an XT reskin sometime in the future. I'd start paying again if they exchange the laser for falloff and wind (though it'd be a bit odd considering Shaft's projectile is a hybrid laser/accelerated ricochet shot)

Could be better if your shots could hit some passersby when you're aiming at nothing in particular, i.e. projectiles keep going over everybody when you're not actually aiming at them. If this was corrected by having twins shoot lower than it is now, I'd be using it a lot more. Otherwise, it'll have to be a flag sitter's weapon--too slow and inaccurate.

So... will there be an MLG no-scope k/d ratio contest coming soon for this topic? :D

Seems I live under the forum's rock. The only trolls I really knew were CheapPlasticFlower and Contaminated. Hue....the true golden age of the forum. That aside, a lot can happen in 3-4 years--people get bored, frustrated, banned, etc. and move on with life (or get one). I could say at this point I lurked the TO forums for quite a while, on and off playing periods, and I don't even know 95% of the EN community nowadays. So there you have it, the rise and fall of many tankmen over the years. Always keep in mind though that the TO forums will hardly see a decline in bigots, hypocrites, white knights and whatever else horrible cancer plaguing this community, if ever. tl;dr who cares lurk moar

Tried using hammer on Hornet instead of Viking for a change. Very, very different but fun playstyle; it plays like XP in terms of versatility, and you'll have three shots to deflect enemy fire from most combos (Titans worked for me at least, on ~37 impact). It's pretty easy to juggle people around with it, but the constant drifting and high recoil might require a bit of mastery to survive longer in more densely populated maps. Also, you can run away if you can't deal with a particular tank or to reload, unlike medium hulls. Overall, I'd recommend it whenever you don't need to put on a medium hull. (8.75/10)

For some reason, the introduction of a perm Railgun XT with the dailies makes me hope for a Shaft XT. Pls bring back pre-rebalance red glow 4 it

There's a border between getting advice and outright stalking someone. Please don't ever let her find out about this, or you'll quickly find that all that friendliness will turn into a personal hell of anguish and guilt, lol.

Complainers, mults, low-rank tryhards, uncoordinated teammates... And that one isida that just doesn't heal you.

After playing a couple games with other shafts and some games by myself, reading forum, and going on server chats, I can't help but be frustrated on how the TO community typically uses Shaft. All I can say is... Sitting around and exclusively firing in scoped mode is using only half of the gun, and therefore only half the usefulness. Some people just don't know when to stop camping a cold spot or when to come out of scoped mode for over half the match. Do this and you are no different from a mult. Shaft is not a 1-on-1, head on duel weapon like Smoky, Ricochet, etc. So for the love of all that is good, STOP thinking that you have to kill everything and everyone yourself in scoped mode!! Kindly move around more and actually use the buffed-up arcade shots that TO gave us. It's actually quite useful in assisting your teammates in killing weakened enemies, and helps keep you alive longer by having situational awareness. Quit complaining about Mouse Controls--learn it if you will, using both keyboard and MC is great too, but please don't waste energy on something that'll stay for the foreseeable future. A shaft that can effectively adapt and switch roles in battle will quickly find themselves in the top 5 places, at least. And yes, this means moving around and using the 'infamous' arcade mode. If you really can't fight back with a shaft, then don't push it! Switch to another freaking weapon instead of throwing a raging, nonsensical tantrum! I don't like to take sides on turret/hull discussions, especially with the one weapon I've grown attached to for the last few years, but... I'll have to agree with some of the Shaft haters for now, out of disappointment. Ah, wish S'Vision was still here to set things right.

There's just some things that are easier to demonstrate than tell, but I can assure you that M3 Vulcan can shake off M3 viking and M3 dictator's aim with enough practice. Can't say the same for Vulcans fighting hulls one mod step ahead or for M2-M2 fights. Never works with heavy hulls though.
-
It's possible to shake off enemy aim with Vulcan, but only with enough I.F. mods, and even then, with at least mid-long distance inbetween you and the shooter. Shoot both ends of their tank, switching between left and right corners, and they'll have trouble compensating for the knockback. However, if they know what you're trying to do, they'd most likely aim somewhere in the middle or use cover to minimize sway.

I use mouse controls and keyboard interchangeably for shaft... Haven't had any problems with rotation since about a week from the update.

Asexual? Pretty much how everyone sees everyone online.

It saddens me that you're reacting to information like that. Seems like you're becoming more and more obsessed with her, an indication that you should probably start trying something else before dung hits the fan. Really, really, hard. Really think about telling her about how you feel soon, before you either explode or wither internally. This pretty much sums up my situation before, and probably yours eventually.
-
Sorry to hear that. Really, the best thing you can probably do right now is to gradually start talking to her more often. Make some memorable moments while there are opportunities to do so, because the biggest thing that will come to bite you in the end is regret over things not done. However, don't panic about the time! Crescendos in music don't sound good rushed, it needs buildup no matter what. Maybe if you make a good lasting impression on her, she will personally try to get in contact with you after you move. Hopefully, it all works out for you in the end. If it doesn't go exactly as you planned, well, it's called life. In short, just be in the moment and enjoy her presence. Don't worry about how much time you have left, because you'll blink and it's already by your doorstep. Keep doing what you're doing, you'll get better at it over time just like playing an instrument.

Try to get in some events/some sort of activity that differs from the normal routine; if there's an optional concert or the like, then it'd be best to get involved in it if she's already there (or invite). That way, there'd be atleast a few new things to discuss. You can try getting in a group of your peers to begin a conversation but in the end it all boils down to how you can carry onward from there with both of you. If opportunities like that aren't really common enough, then it's best to be creative once in a while about your conversations. I remember back then when I used to see a girl from my school's orchestra, it took some effort to find a proper topic to converse about since I was a just wind player and she already had years and years of experience (hence the underdog). One day I just became reeeaaally curious and asked her how she started and ended up where she is now, and from there I worked my way to other topics. Flow is important, try to ask some questions, give her some answers, then stop whenever it warrants. After all, nobody wants to feel forced to continue a conversation. Let your curiosity build up for another time. In the long run, patience is key, but don't hesitate to take chances. Think in music--better for a few notes to mess up than not play at all. Then of course, tempo, but that's a different subject for now.

Mayweather did nothing and ran for pretty much 3/5ths of the fight, while Pacquiao put up a spectacular display for everyone watching. Though the former was eventually going to win with his tactic, it's still pretty damn cheap and boring.

You know, this is pretty much how it went with me the last time. Don't overdo the researching, or you'll turn into a full-blown stalker. Big fail points if she finds out you're using the nets/her friends to spy on her. If you want to know more about her, conversations are the #1 time proven way to do it--shows confidence and warms up those nervous episodes over time. P.S. Asking others if she's pretty or not is one guaranteed way to screw up your mood if you don't like the response.

I'm not happy with this new update. If I remember, the dev team only mentioned modifying the parameters related to its overheating, but a ~15% damage nerf AND a rotation speed debuff is going over the top. And for those people crying out from being maimed by this thing repeatedly: What did you expect? Vulcan was meant to be a suppressive-fire weapon. It's built so you HAVE maneuver around it to destroy it. That power was justified in pretty much every regards. It's like saying you should throw out your stove, because you put your hand on top of it instead of using a freaking handle or something. Seriously. TO saying that "everything you buy is subject to future rebalances" is getting extremely tedious at this point. They advertised Vulcan as a weapon that would help cover teammates by keeping the enemy in hiding and destroying enemies in the open or coming for the flag. Well, what did they do again? More bait-and-switch. Now it won't prevent the enemy team from coming out of cover and blasting you high into the sky because of it's pitiful condition now. It no longer has that "oh, I need to work around this guy" or the "dangerous obstacle" feel to it that encourages tactical planning.
-
I never heard of a damage nerf by 10 freaking points alongside the severe debuffs with this.. What the hell? They really threw the suppressive power of this thing out the window...
-
Ah, so they're bringing back the thunder which used to deal ~93-100 or so damage and capped at 2.10 reload. Eh, should balance the hit-and-hide tactic a bit. More damage and less opportunities to get countered.

Can't be bothered to waste a few precious seconds to re-orient myself... Aside from that, there's not much to it except with special hulls like Wasp, Dictator, and Mammoth where turret position is offset from the center. Driving backwards with the first two gives some elevation advantage (don't try too much with Dict or they stick next to you and evade shots most of the time); with mammoth it's for getting an edge over people that try to stick next to you to avoid getting hit, or more vertical aiming. *Still get confused about the forward and backwards on driving mammoth sometimes, keep falling to death/flipping over/stuck <_<

Arcade shot accuracy is horrid in mouse ctrl, the camera is slightly offset from the barrel's direction. However, it's pretty much the only way to go snipe so far. Arcade shots land better in keyboard, but the scope is broken. Haaaahhh... trade-offs. Unless someone can afford to take a few seconds switching back and forth ctrls repeatedly, Shaft split into 2 weapons...

Got my M2 Smoky sitting in the dusty corners of the garage. Wouldn't exactly say my mammoth is the "worst", but just not appropriate for the typical battle. Then again, I have an M3 Freeze, Isida, Twins, Thunder, and Railgun just piled up eating more dust. Never was a fan of close range turrets, and too many protection paints on the last 2.
