Ideas for Maps!

Well I wouldn't say it's 'stupid', more basic. The map has no flow; if playing CTF, you only have one way of getting the flag and capturing it.

 

Hmm I guess so. But still, maybe that is why people like it. Cos it is simple to play in and doesn't require much thought regarding where to go once you have taken their flag. I don't play in int much myself, but still I wouldn't call it stupid :/

Yeah, well people have different opinions of different maps but with the unity version, the game needs a lot of new maps, instead of taking the ones in the current game and remaking them. I've had this idea for awhile, but the game should do a cycle of maps every 2 months or so. Say if they're 30 maps in-game, and the 10 maps that are least popular get replaced with new ones or get changed to suit a better gameplay style, this does require more work for the developers but that's what MapMakers are for ...

AlternativaEditor: Download AdobeAir, install it. Download AE in the first page and just click on the file downloaded.

 

TanksTestingTool: Download StandaloneFlashPlayer (+11 version). Download TTT in the first page, extract the .RAR file with Winrar or Winzip, open the Standalone, click on Open > Browse > Search "tankstestingtool.swf", or something like that in the TTT file > done.

Yeah, well people have different opinions of different maps but with the unity version, the game needs a lot of new maps, instead of taking the ones in the current game and remaking them. I've had this idea for awhile, but the game should do a cycle of maps every 2 months or so. Say if they're 30 maps in-game, and the 10 maps that are least popular get replaced with new ones or get changed to suit a better gameplay style, this does require more work for the developers but that's what MapMakers are for ...  

 

I sincerely hope the developers will start taking the game more seriously once

the Unity transition is over, because so far they mostly resolved things based on

convenience, not on priority.

 

Regarding the maps, I suggest a semi-wipe, keep the most played maps like

Rio, Polygon and maybe half a dozen other maps, scrap the rest and let the

map makers do the rest... oh...

 

But there is the main issue, in order for the map makers to make maps, they

need proper software, so I sincerely hope the devs are working on a Unity-compatible

map editor, otherwise this transition will turn into a disaster. I also sincerely hope they

will allow the community to independantly maintain and pick the maps, rather than

rely on oppinions of those who barely get to see the maps, let alone play them...

I wouldn't say thats the main issue here. Most frequently, we see people who have no idea how to get started with the editor. It takes trial and error to make maps and if there is no drive there, then that person never gets on it. A bug free editor would be nice but its not in demand. Nobody is posting topics about a map they made in 3d software or in the editor anymore. If more would make maps, would make the possibilities of new stuff all the more likely. The game would probably be made on the Unity editor, which is not as user friendly as AE. Who knows whats going to happen there. Since you're more of a gamer, don't you think a game that is more of an open source has a stronger community vs one that is tightly closed?

Great tutorial/guide but this seems to be an older version of TTT, as the newer versions don't have the F4 option; you have quite a few more options in the newer one such as gold drops, showing supply drops but nonetheless it is helpful.

It's also made for testing maps you've made. (Just saying, you never included that :o)

As my last map was pretty big, I decided to make a smaller version of it, but not now.

 

However, here's my new map: Digsite

 

26x26, 33x33 including the grass & tunnels

Ugh, how amazing it would be if we could create our own map, then play on it with friends in a custom battle...Well, it's nice to dream sometime.

Yep, I wish. (It is possible for the developers to easily put any map they created into the severs, saw it in a post by hazel :ph34r:)

To be honest, I dont really care if it actually gets into the game or not. I only wish we could play on it with some friends.

Nice, I like your style. I know you used the wall tiles to keep the card condensed, but I think the rocks would have better suited the feel and the name of it. Textures could use a bit of work for the ramps and tiles. For example, you go from the hard rock(at bottom) to sand then to the greenish sand and then the grass(top of map) of the v1 tiles. For the next new map you create, try not to make it symmetrical and see what you come up with)

If only the game was more of an open source...Anyway, we should be grateful we get the props and tools to make them. Its a great opportunity that not enough people take advantage of.

have a map that only got CTF mode but there is three teams or make a map with only CTF mode but there is two flags for each team.

At the moment the game can only support two teams, not 3.

But two flags for each team. That's interesting ..
