Ideas for Maps!

Island is pretty small map and I think you remember when they mentioned that small maps such as Island, Hill, Ping-pong don't have a chance to be added even though Island is one of my favourite map but still, I guess they can somehow modify it just like they did with Sandbox so there might be a chance or maybe not, who knows...

I don't like Island. It's basically made to be a power-levelling map. Even if they increase its size to accommodate 16 players, it will have extremely boring gameplay with no room for tactics. Just spawn, use supplies, die, repeat.

They can turn Island into an Archipelago. 

 

That would be pretty cool not gonna lie, there are no maps in the game currently anywhere that are like that.

You could also add a rather large beach area circling island to make it larger with some palm trees and buildings located on the beach.

Border Crossing

(BE GENTLE. I have NO video editing software and the TTT tank runs a little slow and a little odd, doesn't handle great.)

 

A mountain range ravine crossing.  Difficult ingress and egress, for both teams, treacherous mountain paths up and down to bases, and single narrow exposed bridge.  A lot of cover for teams to support attackers.

 

Notes


This map is a deceptively small in terms of playable real estate.  While not small by any measure, it is truly a medium sized map for the purposes fighting.

 

 

Thoughts


The narrow bridge and narrow paths up and down the mountain will mean low scoring battles, and many failed flag capture attempts and failed assaults too.

Hey, sometime back, I recall being told you could modify physics on the fly in TTT.  I wanted to change the hull stats for speed, handling, and acceleration so the hull I used in TTT would reflect what I would get in in game.  Anyone remember how to do that, and if so, point me in some direction where I can read up on that?

I am trying to create props to use in alternativaeditor, but it's not working so far.

I created a file using SketchUp 2017 and converted it to a .3ds, which I put into a folder with all the textures, and I then created a library.xml file for this folder.

 

However, when I try to "load" this folder as a prop library for alternativaeditor, it freezes on the "Loading libraries", and doesn't load at all.

 

What am I doing wrong? How can I create props for alternativaeditor?

That was only possible on the soiko TTT, in the newer ones isn't possible

 

Check the existing libraries, they specify a lot of things (such as textures, the model name, etc)

I think you would also need a .tara file for the library but I think is almost impossible to make a .tara file :&

I've used TaraMaker once, you need to edit the .cmd file to point it to the library names.

Ok, so it turns out AlternativaEditor is just really specific on the format of the .3ds file. When exporting from SketchUp, you have to make sure you export the file as a single object, with no saved cameras, and textures preserved.

It should be noted, I have NO EXPERIENCE in making 3D anything really, but so stoked was I to try that I got 3DS full version (don't ask, and no, not a hack).  I learned how to make cubes and spheres (forgot it all now), but but I wanted to make roofs, with triangles and all that jazz, talk about NOT happening.  I couldn't do it.  I'm sure if I had spent more time, but it was really complex.  Hearing you talk right now, I'm considering trying again.

 

Is SketchUp 2017 hard to use?  And does it skin models too, or just allow you to make the objects?

Max. Players: 11 vs 11 (22 players)

Supported modes: DM, TDM, CTF, CP

Supported environments: Summer and Space, but Winter mode is in the works

Additional notes: This is a large map with ample sightlines, but there are several areas in the map with large amounts of foilage. Both bases are highly defendable, and flagrunners will have a hard time swiping a flag without support.

Wow you got some amazing talent making these. I'd rather have this one in the game than many MM maps we have to play in.

I already have AlternativaEditor.

 

Please read my previous post, I want to know if I am doing something wrong and need advice on how to make props for TTT (and how to import them into the editor) in general.

Why now you are puted random in a map of your wanted tipe of game? I personally liked the method before that. It was better, in my opinion to choose the map on wich you played or to start your own game.
