I posted that because I thought it was funny that someone bothered to type up an entire apology letter in tanki chat

I understand, but the thing is the other person might not like the comment and may think of it as provocative, which could lead to future discontent between forumers and unhealthy discussion, hence it is done as a preventive measure.

@AncientFire Actually, I made an apology the very next day and you couldn't post mine too? I am guessing you don't know the whole story behind the apology. It was a serious issue on the chat started by a dumb prank by Brandorrrr and I just made it worse for everyone. This lasted for a MONTH. Since it made the chat environment very unhealthy, Brandorrrr thought an apology was necessary and I thought it was too. It made me realize that I also had a lot to do with it, so I thought an apology for my actions was necessary too. I think the real "joker" was the player who had a month-long meltdown over being the victim of a prank and falsely accused my friends of hacking as they had nothing to do with it. I get how some find it funny that someone had the guts to apologize for a prank that was no laughing matter as most of tanki. I think most people would read that and probably not think much of it, but the handful of players who experienced that would understand the story further.
