The CSL2 is on the verge of ending. Yet what have we learned from it? This article is here to help. Having participants from four of the top English clans, the leaders of Georgian Clan Crusaders, Behemoth, The Mighty Midgets and Dare Devils have kindly agreed to share their team formations with the English Community.

This article, though largely aimed at clans and teams, can be read by all, and can be a help to understand the ins-and-outs of each of the four maps to be addressed today.

Let's welcome justoriginal, M.a.v.e.r.i.c.K, brambo6 and Makarov.Dreyar to the stage! The four maps we're going to run through today were the first four maps in the CSL2 rounds. These four are going to run through the best formations in a clan-war style game. 20 minutes, 6v6 and No Supplies with drops. So without further ado, lets start. Kungur time.

Xo1jmYa.jpg

The first round of the CSL2 took us into a very common map on the battlefields – Kungur. But what is the best formation in this, if you are suddenly found in a 6v6 No Supplies game? This is what our four clan leaders think.

M.a.v.e.r.i.c.K. (Dare Devils)

Red side: Mammoth + Smoky at flag with Railgun + Dictator on the left behind the houses for defense. Railgun + Hornet in the middle-left, below the bridge to weaken opponents defenders. Attacks from the extreme left after picking up drops. 2 Smoky + Hunter and a Hornet + Twins for attack from the right and middle.
Blue side: Exactly the same composition. Twins + Hornet from the middle, Railgun + Hornet from the left and 2 Smoky + Hunter from the bridge and right.

Smoky Mammoth, Railgun Dictator - Defense
Railgun Hornet, Twins Hornet, Smoky Hunter x 2 – Attack

justoriginal (Georgian Clan Crusaders)

In Kungur we used best defence: Vik + Freeze, Mammoth + Thunder and Dictator + Rail.. It is good because in other clans attack, people use Wasp and Hornet.. and sometimes Hunter too! So 1 Rail shot + 1 Thunder shot can beat Hornet. Rail can beat Wasp. No-one attacks alone so rail and thunder needs time to reload! Freeze is stopping attack. Regarding my choice for attack, if they have light defence then wasp and rail would be the prefferred choices.

Viking Freeze, Mammoth Thunder, Dictator Rail - Defense
Hornet Freeze, Hornet/Wasp Isida, Hornet Rail/Smoky – Attack

brambo6 (The Mighty Midgets)

*** Red side (other team is more defending than attacking):
- Mammoth Thunder on defense: since many clans use 'just' Hornet in attack, Thunder needs only 3-4 shots (depends on distance) to take out a Hornet. most important: Mammoth need to stay in base + if he's low on health, someone needs to help him until he dies/using isida
- Dictator Thunder on the rails: This player can take out some of the attackers/just give them 2 shots so the Mammoth doesn't need to shoot a lot. When opponents isn't attacking, Dictator can easily splash in enemy-base.
- Hunter Smoky: We use 2/3 of them. These guys are the main attackers. Always waiting for colleague in attack, perfect thing would be 3/4 players in attack. A critical can help at anytime + Better wait for supplies.
- Wasp Smoky: wasp can easily jump on the 'wall' + attacking in back of enemy base.
- Dictator Railgun: When using only 2 Hunter Smokies, a Railgun is a perfect support.

*** Blue side (other team defending again):
- Hunter Railgun: we use 2 of them and put them on the bridge. They need to take a look at the left side of the field and take out every attacker.
- Hunter Smoky: we use 2 of them to attack.
- Hunter Thunder: we use 2 of them to help in defense when needed + to be a support in attack.

Red:
Mammoth Thunder, Dictator Thunder – Defense
Smoky Wasp, Smoky Hunter x2, Railgun Dictator – Attack

Blue:
Railgun Hunter x2, Thunder Hunter – Defense
Thunder Hunter, Smoky Hunter x 2 - Attack

Makarov.Dreyar (Behemoth)

In Kungur we used Freeze/Mammoth for defence (he's the only defence we need!) Rail/Viking for covering the attackers and the 4 attackers are Hornet/F
reeze, Hornet/Thunder, Hornet/Isida and another Hornet/Freeze. We dont attack alone so Hornets are enough to beat an enemies up, Thunders have spalsh damage so we use the Freeze when we are in the enemy base and the Thunder would usually be the sacrifice (distraction) or sometimes the Thunder gets lucky and he gets a flag also. If they have heavy defence, say, they all defend and only one person attacks, we use Mammy/Smoky, Titan/Smoky, Hornet/Isida/ Hornet/Freeze, Mammoth/Thunder in attack. So all in all, BEE is a random clan and you can never predict what we may use next. ^_^

Freeze/Mammy – Defence
Smoky/Mammy, Smoky/Titan, Thunder/Hornet, Freeze/Hornet, Isida/Hornet - Attack

Tribute was our second map. This was less common in the servers, generally No Supplies when you did see it, but a truly legendary Clan War map. Heres what our clan leaders thought.

M.a.v.e.r.i.c.K. (Dare Devils)

Red side: Requires more defence. Rico + Viking at the flag. Mammoth + Smoky besides the flag shooting opponents coming from the small bridge and center. Hornet + Railgun besides the big bridge, below the slope, to shoot at opponents coming from the small bridge. For attack, Wasp + Freeze and 2 Smoky + Hunter.

Blue side: Rail + Dictator on the left, behind the houses for defence. Mammoth + Smoky in the center for defence. Hornet + Isida, Vik + Rico and 2 Hunter + Smoky for attack.

Red:

Ricochet Viking, Mammoth Smoky, Hornet Freeze – Defense
Freeze Wasp, Smoky Hunter x 2 – Attack

Blue:
Railgun Dictator, Mammoth Smoky – Defense
Hornet Isida, Ricochet Viking, Smoky Hunter x2 - Attack

justoriginal (Georgian Clan Crusaders)

Same defence in Tribute.. Tribute has best base for Freeze.. it is Freeze's dream.. but here we need Rail and Thunder for camping and for crashing attacks from starting. IDK about attack.. it is very hard to attack there. However, Hunter with Smoky is good there. But it still depends very much on the enemy's defence.

Viking Freeze, Mammoth Thunder, Railgun Dictator - Defense
Smoky Hunter, Isida Hornet, Wasp Freeze/Firebird – Attack

brambo6 (The Mighty Midgets)

*** Red side:
- Mammoth Railgun: at flag, blocking attackers + shooting enemy base.
- Hunter Twins: main attacker at left side
- Hunter Smoky: again 2 of them in attack, criticals would be nice, one left, one right.
- Dictator Thunder: supporting on longbridge
- Wasp Isida: very effective in tribute!

*** Blue side (side to attack):
- Dictator Railgun: longbridge + supporting in attack
- Mammoth Thunder: main defender, but has to play in support
- Hunter Twins: 2 of them at shortbridge in attack with Isida
- Wasp Isida: going with twins' + healing Dictator/Mammoth first
- Hunter Smoky: longbridge to clear the base from Freezes.

Red:

Railgun Mammoth – Defense.
Dictator Thunder, Wasp Isida – Defense+Attack
Hunter Smoky x2, Twins Hunter – Attack

Blue:
Thunder Mammoth – Defense
Hunter Smoky – Covering
Hunter Twins x2, Wasp Isida, Dictator Railgun – Attack

Makarov.Dreyar (Behemoth)

The team we used on tribute was: Viking/Freeze, Hornet/Thunder x 3, Hornet/Isida, Hornet/Freeze since Mammoth is too slow for tribute. But we found that our enemy clan was easy so we got a Hornet/Rail in (removing our defender). We used that line up for both rounds

Freeze Viking, Thunder Hornet – Defense
Thunder Hornet x2, Hornet Isida, Hornet Freeze – Attack

Our third map was Solikamsk. A brilliant map, this is a clan war special. What did our leaders think would work this time?

M.a.v.e.r.i.c.K. (Dare Devils)

I personally find this map very boring. Less drops and a big map area results in fewer flag captures.

Red Side: Mammoth + Smoky at flag for defence. Hunter + Railgun in the middle-left, behind the walls for defence/weakening attackers. Hornet + Railgun attacks from the right to weaken opponents' defenders. 2 Smoky + Hunter and Freeze + Hornet for attack.

Blue Side: Railgun + Hunter at flag for defence. Smoky + Vik attacks from the middle. Hornet + Railgun attacks from the left to weaken defenders. Smoky + Hunter, Freeze + Wasp and Twins + Hornet for attack.

Red:
Mammoth-Smoky, Hunter Railgun – Defense
Hornet Railgun, Smoky Hunter x2, Freeze Hornet – Attack

Blue:
Railgun Hunter – Defense
Smoky Vik, Railgun Hornet, Smoky Hunter, Freeze Wasp, Twins Hornet – Attack

justoriginal (Georgian Clan Crusaders)

Hmm, Solikamsk is open map so it is good to use long weapons there.. our enemies used Shaft and it was good choice but it needs to have a good position..I would use a Viking Freeze, Dictator Rail, Mammoth/Viking Thunder, Hornet Freeze, Hornet Smoky, and Hornet/Wasp Isida.

Freeze Viking, Railgun Dictator, Mammoth/Viking Thunder – Defense
Hornet Freeze, Hornet Smoky, Hornet/Wasp Isida – Attack

brambo6 (The Mighty Midgets)

*** Red side:
Mammoth Smoky: defense
Dictator Railgun: 2 of them in support at powerdrops
Hunter Smoky: 2 of them in attack
Hunter Thunder: supporting in attack at a powerdrop.

*** Blue side:
Dictator Railgun: 2 in defense - when clear, support
Hunter Thunder: splashing base
Hunter Smoky: 3 of them attacking base at different ways

Red:
Smoky Mammoth – Defense
Railgun Dictator x2 – Support
Smoky Hunter x 2, Thunder Hunter - Attack

Blue:
Railgun Dictator x2 – Defense
Thunder Hunter, Smoky Hunter x3 – Attack

Makarov.Dreyar (Behemoth)

For Solikamsk, it was a pretty hard battle, but we got through it. Our defence was obviously the Mammoth/Freeze. But since soli is a huge map we got Rail/Viking to assist the defender. The attackers were the normal Hornet/Thunder x2, Hornet/Freeze, Hornet/Isida. For the red team, the side is said to be hard to defend. But i like the red side because the flag is on top and you have the chance to shoot at any direction, which made the defender a Mammy/Thunder assisted by a Viking/Rail.

Red:
Freeze Mammoth, Railgun Viking – Defense
Thunder Hornet x2, Freeze Hornet, Isida Hornet – Attack

Blue:
Thunder Mammoth, Railgun Viking – Defense
Thunder Hornet x2, Freeze Hornet, Isida Hornet – Attack

The final map reviewed today was Red Alert, the last one to be drawn in the CSL2. Over to your final run-through of formations.

M.a.v.e.r.i.c.K. (Dare Devils)

Red Side: The better side. Freeze + Hunter at flag with a Thunder + Hunter. 1 Smoky + Hunter shoots defenders from the top right at enemies' base. 1 Smoky + Hunter, Freeze + Hornet and Twins + Hornet for attack.

Blue Side: This side requires more defence. Freeze + Hunter at the flag with Thunder + Hunter on the right as defence. 1 Smoky + Hunter on left at the top to assist the defenders. 1 Smoky + Hunter, Freeze + Hornet and Twins + Hornet as attackers.

Freeze Hunter, Thunder Hunter, Smoky Hunter – Defense
Smoky Hunter, Freeze Hornet, Twins Hornet – Attack

justoriginal (Georgian Clan Crusaders)

Maybe GCC is finder of ideal tactics.. we had this tactic before rebalance in every map. It was the best tactic and we won a lot!
ATTACK
Viking Rico
Viking Rico
Viking Thunder
DEFENCE
Mammoth Thunder
Viking Freeze
Viking Freeze

Now we found ideal tactic after rebalance in almost all maps. It is:
ATTACK

Hornet Freeze
Hornet Isida
Hornet Smoky
DEFENCE
Viking Freeze
Mammoth Thunder
Dictator Railgun

However, for GCC, 90% of our winning is because we know how to play which each other and we have strongest players..

Freeze Viking, Thunder Mammoth, Railgun Dictator - Defense
Freeze Hornet, Isida Hornet, Smoky Hornet – Attack

brambo6 (The Mighty Midgets)

*** Red/Blue side:
- Hunter Smoky: 3 of them
- Viking Freeze: defense
- Wasp Freeze: attack
- Wasp Isida: attack

Smoky is an allround wep -good in most of situations, Freeze Vik: lot hp, good agility, Freeze slows down and Freeze Wasp very useful when returning flags + freezing enemy base.

Viking Freeze, Smoky Hunter x2 – Defense
Smoky Hunter, Freeze Wasp, Isida Wasp – Attack

Makarov.Dreyar (Behemoth)

For Red Alert, we had to change the line up in the last 5 minutes since 2 of our members didn't turn up. Thats why we used 2 Mammoths and the attackers were Hornet/Thunder, Hornet/Isida, Hornet/Freeze, Smoky/Titan.There was no strategy here as the plans had to change completely because of the absence of the 2 members. However, our ideal team for Red Alert would have been:
Rail/Viking, Twins/Mammy (defence+cover), Titan/Smoky (attack) Hornet/Freeze, Hornet/Thunder and the Hornet/Isida.

Railgun Viking, Twins Mammoth – Defense
Smoky Titan, Freeze Hornet, Thunder Hornet, Isida Hornet – Attack.

And there closes our long review of the best formations in our four special maps. Please give a great thanks to the four leaders that were willing to participate in this, and share their views with the community. I hope you clan leaders out there reading this learnt a lot about what good tactics would be and how they work.

Thanks for reading!

You bet. And put it on a wasp and you don't know what can it do. Only us firebird users know it's strength. <_<

ahhhh it is nice to see that so many clans are beginning to notice that smoky's versatility  is so useful in clan wars, look how many want 2 or sometimes 3 of them more then any other gun, watch out for clan RAD because I am a smoky specialist.
