Thankfully I still have my high-caliber ammo alteration (now called large caliber rounds). I am not happy that the railgun colour is now blue. Let me guess, we will now have to buy the yellow colour? What an absolute joke.

They soon will spilit more dmg and make call it high clipper ammo v2, to re the old rail SIMPLY buy both alts v1 and v1 and the rail it self. Its cheap both alt cost 200k, 100k for each alt and rail m2 cost 96k which mean cheap simple 300k on 1 m2 weak gun.

 

 

Just wait and u willbsee tgus happen. We are in tanki expect everchitThing

Encountered a player with M4 rail using the Hyperspace Rounds alteration in a Noise CTF battle. He was on red and would drop down into our base and hide behind rusted Titan and Firebird. He kept getting a kill because he would get a triple shot everytime he shot due to the limited moving area the blue team had. 

 

My Titan M3 had full health and I had double armour activated. I was the third tank in his shot and I died instantly. the titan that was in front of me's life decreased from 100% to 10%. 

 

I'm assuming that this alteration is to make up for railguns bad damage when protection modules are used against it. Overall, pretty good. I'd definitely say that this alt may be worth it. 

 

 

PS: Imagine the potential damage this thing could do at M4 with double damage when it shoots through 39 tankers in Dusseldorf who don't have Railgun protection!!!.

I sure hope the alterations page in the wiki would be updated soon. I would love to make possible theories on the new alterations as well as those that have been in the game prior and received changes since then. :wub:

So I just bought the round stabilization alt on my KillerDiesel account and I can tell you, now that the price is at 35k instead of 100k, it's worth the 35k for those that don't like to suffer from the unlucky shots.

 

I need to do more testing on it so I'll post my full thoughts tomorrow, but for now, it's a decent alteration.

Did some more testing, and it's a pretty nice alteration. And the retaining damage after penetrating multiple targets is a really nice addition.

Railgun is my favorite weapon and I only play with rail; weather it is xp/bp or normal battles, I always have rail hornet M4. It is a great weapon if you have massive amounts of skill, however if you don't have skill you will be mercelessly destroyed simply because of the fact that Railgun is UNDERPOWERED. Sure it does a lot of damage but the amount of time you have to wait between shots; reload + CHARGE UP takes to long for the amount of damage it deals and you basically have to outsmart all of your opponents at every single encounter to even have a chance... which I do a lot(because I am obsessed with Railgun), however, I think that railgun should do a bit more damage or have the reload shortened in order to be fair, I mean when is the last time you have seen a railgunner 1st in a battle and thought, "well that makes sense..." let me guess probably NEVER. The first thought that might come to your head is "well he is just lucky or maybe he was here before the rest of the players joined".

 

Nobody ever says, "railgun is the perfect weapon for this battle"(maybe sometimes). Even in long range maps railgun is only now fair to play with IF you have SKILLS AND ARE SUPER AWARE. Chances are you will probably be outdone by a shaft or some striker with 50% rail protection which renders your weapon useless in capture the flag battles because there isn't enough time for your weapon to kill the player before he captures the flag; even if he is out in the open and you can shoot him 4 times it won't kill him most of the time if he has Viking or bigger hulls... could you imaging shooting one person four times with railgun and they still live; I will grow a grey beard before he dies, imagine that; and guess what 1 health kit will undue all of your hard skillful labor :/ how sad.

 

In conclusion, I want to say that if you play plenty of xp/bp battles and normal battles with railgun and always learn from every battle; ask yourself what did I do wrong and what can I do better next time, you can build the skills you need to overcome the average noobs(no offense) who use other weapons like smoky and twins and come out on top if you play a near perfect game. But you will NEVER reliably win any game with Railgun even if you camp and camp well... the only way this will happen is if Tanki Online unnerfs railgun, yes it was nerfed in the past sadly, yes there are alterations but they only give the illusion of a stronger weapon(40% more damage BUT double the reload, smh), the high caliber railgun alteration is fun but not fair; it is actually worse than the regular railgun which does more damage per minute, per game if you land all the shots.

 

Some people say that all this is ok because railgun has it's own game mode... I say who cares if it has a game mode that does not make it ok to underpower such a fun, amazing and tactical weapon... I mean if you build your skills for 2 years playing with 1 weapon only... do you not deserve to win against someone with a different weapon in a fair battle? I say yes. Yes Rail should be the ultimate weapon, but only IF YOU MASTER IT. But go ahead and play a sandbox battle 4v4 no drugs to keep it simple and you will see that no matter how much skill and tactics you posses... you will always lose to twins, smoky, shaft, even striker... yet they don't nerf striker like they do to rail.... The ultimate nerf is to make a weapon so hard to use that it takes years to master..... THAT IS ALL THE NERF WE NEED! You don't have to lower the weapons damage too...BUT THEY DID.

 

I am glad that I have gotten this off my chest, please back me up and share this with fellow tanki players (or the developers if anyone knows how)if you agree with me, but if you do not agree please reply and tell me why you think I am wrong. Thank you.

Same old, same old. Rail is not under powered. The damage was reduced, yes, but so was reload. And you can buy alterations that make it OP. Enough said.

I agree that Railgun is underpowered and needs a buff in ONLY the minimum damage though. But here's the thing, Tanki would need to make another major rebalance because I'm pretty sure in the last one, they made rail to be balanced in BOTH regular battles and XP/BP battles. The damage ranges need to be perfect and that can be hard to achieve with the number of turrets and hulls currently in the game. Also, a few of the alterations for rail seem like upgrades instead of...well....alterations. 

 

Like Hyperspace Rounds, It only decreases the damage by 10% yet the overall damage can be doubled for the second tank that gets hit in a row in its line of fire and so on. That can crush groups of tanks and as you saw above in one of the pictures, it has dangerous potential. Death Herald Compulsor is another one that seems like an upgrade instead of an alteration.

Do you play with railgun at all? If you do then you will see what I am talking about, you are at a rank where your railgun may have more upgrades than your fellow tankers... What I am saying is that if all tanks in a battle are of equal Mu's; M4 20/20 for example..... then the railgun will always be the underdog... ESPECIALLY when protection modules are used... btw I think tanki should add a game mode where you cannot use protection modules, to simplify the game and introduce a more tactical aspect, kind of like xp/bp but for all weapons.

 

Here is an experiment for you; try using railgun and hornet and do a 1v1 battle against someone else with hornet and any weapon of their choice and you will see how limited railgun is, and If it is so dang hard to use I think that it deserves more damage per shot.(I can beat most players with rail 1v1 when they use other weapons because of my xp/bp skills... that should tell you how unfair this whole thing is if I am last place on the losing team most of the time when playing with rail in sandbox 4v4... yet I can crush people 1v1 even with protection; but it just makes the game LONGER, GET IT YET?)

 

As for the alterations being OP I explained above how they are NOT OP.... but I haven't tried hyperspace rounds yet....so maybe there is hope :).

Why do you think so many people have Railgun protection? They need it to survive.
