'Twas fun trying to outscore that person but they got their 27th kill in the final seconds.

But hey, at least your K/D was better than theirs in that battle.

50% sale on garage items after tomorrow's server restart which also includes alterations, so buy it then if you're still interested.

Yes, Hornets OD does the normal amount of damage to people under Titan'S OD. Be aware, they can still heal it back.

I just have to wonder how hard Railgun really hits. There was a lot to factor in here, but I felt as if my purchase of Falcon M2 was a joke in this battle.

Railgun-module-is-useless.png

III_a_L_h_a_r_83 was an M4 LCR Railgun + Viking with a drone. This guy shot me the first time and took away 95% of my HP, almost had none left. And y'know what's frightening? After doing calculations, he hit me very close to his average damage when taking into account my 26% Railgun protection. So ~50% of his damage range can one-shot me. Even with M2 protection and an almost M3 medium hull.

When I had double armour enabled, the guy hit me consistently for 60-80% of my HP, while I have 26% protection. Jesus.

Often times not even 38% is enough protection. You need at the minimum 45% to sort of tank railguns, and even then, without DA, you're still taking massive damage.

Just get yourselves railgun m4 and large caliber rounds and use it with viking. The combination of the viking alteration + large caliber rounds (and double damage) is insane and I'm talking 20+ kills in legend battles.

I thought protection was fairly effective against rail gun (35% usually makes them somewhat redundant in my experience) since modules work well against low DPS guns. Maybe that’s because my hull is nearly M4 tho... also depends if they’re using hornet or not as well I guess

With 38% large caliber rails can still 2 shot my titan (m3, under 5 mu) if I don't use DA.

With 40% Rail protection, my M3 6/20 Hornet still gets one-shotted, which doesn't really surprise me. if my Hornet were M4, then I'd have much more leeway to survive. And 10% more Railgun protection would make a difference. But alas, even with 50% Railgun protection, LCR is still able to one-shot light hulls. Thus rendering the protection module useless at face value.

Round Destabilisation users have much more leeway to one-shot my Hornet.

Assuming that 1 damage is 1% and 2,720 is 170%, they'd need to hit me for 115% of their damage range. Which translates to 1,840 damage. That's a whole 55% of the damage range not even being touched and I'm dead.

You really can't fault people for having the module equipped all the time. Of course, a light hull is the weakest, and using a heavy hull would see that I survive one shot longer.

There were so many railguns in the bridges map when I was playing on my KillerDiesel account, that I decided to buy the module. And Damn I forgot how much of a PITA railgun can be when you're on the receiving end of them and you have no protection against them.

How did you even live without falcon? Those things oneshot you with no warning. And 2 shot you with protection...

So many different Railguns, with different damages, and different firing rates. it's hard to know how to react when one shoots you out of nowhere. It could have been an RD Railgun that go unlucky with its damage, who knows if the next one would be on the lucky end of the damage distribution.

It could have been a RD Railgun or Scout, but you'll never know until the 2nd shot, which may come swiftly and kill you, if it's a Scout.

It's the unpredictability that gets you. And when there are many on one team, you have all these different damages and firing rates to look out for. Falcon is a must.

And players complain they face too many Rail modules in battle... never asking why that might be...

On KillerDiesel, after using shell stabilization alt whenever I wanted to use railgun for a long time and then buying destabilization rounds (because I guess the urge to try it out was much stronger than I thought) and holy crap, I saw my performance skyrocket in just a couple battles. Did 2.6k with Double damage on a heavy hull who probably had at least 30% protection against me and killed him.

Destabilization rounds are op. One dude with m1 rail and double damage one shotted my m2 titan and his gs was like 2100. It really needs a nerf.

When it was implemented, it originally had a 50% maximum damage increase. Then 2 days later, it was announced that the maximum damage increase would be +90%. Four months of sketchy damage distribution later, it was reduced to 70%.

I believe some people are just too lucky with the RNG, and some are just completely unlucky with it and alternatives would be better for them. I can only imagine the player feedback if it were changed to +50%, like it was when it was implemented.

I do believe Railgun's newest alterations were meant to appease the Stock Railgun players that had trouble dealing with protection modules in the higher ranks. I can't comprehend "Death Herald" Compulsator and Hyperspace Rounds' current existence.

Yes! But 70% damage increase is insane! Hyperspace btw are amazing because it makes multi kills far more likely

Which is why it's imbalanced against Stock Railgun. Hitting 2 enemies more than makes up for a 10% maximum damage decrease. And it doesn't even have to be enemies. An ally will multiply the damage as well.

Yes! But 70% damage increase is insane!

One thing to note is that it has to somehow make up for the minimum damage being reduced to 1. And the path they chose was making the increase in maximum damage more than the decrease in minimum, which if done, raises the average damage. So you're compensating for possibly hitting way less than your Railgun's minimum damage, with high damage shots.

A very great foundation for a nerf would be fixing its impact force depending on what damage it deals. The lower the damage, the lower the impact force. That way, we can actually see if it's a Round Destabilisation Railgun hitting us, or an Electromagnetic Accelerator "Scout" Railgun hitting us.

170% damage = 120% impact force

1 (minimum damage) = 0.7% impact force (I think that's correct, most likely it's wrong).
