Which is the best augment for Railgun for MM and Pro?

Hyperspace, Scout or LCR.

Now that I've reached WO3 and unlocked the next modifications of Railgun, Hornet and my 3 modules, I plan on staying on this rank for a while and trying to get crystals from contests and stuff. Currently I've got enough crystals to upgrade everything to Mk4.

Should I save crystals for an Augment? They appear pretty expensive, and the chances of getting them from containers is quite low. Currently, I find the performance of my stock Railgun pretty satisfactory, but I feel I'm going to need some extra power when going against players with high Gear scores.

Continue playing and saving crystals for an augment in parallel. It'd be better to have Mk4. You should aim to buy an augment at the highest sale possible to get it at it's cheapest. Preferably at 50% sales or any higher or similar personal sale if you get (i dunno if we get these anymore). Another reason to get better Mk is because you'll be fighting Mk7's by the time you reach Lieutenant. So higher the better. I'd suggest to start with Railgun.

Well, I actually am going to upgrade my equipment to Mk4. Just wanted to know if I should add purchasing an Augment to my priority list, or leave it till I reach a much higher rank.

How are you doing on crystals? Do you have enough to fully upgrade to Mk4? If you do, then consider buying an augment. All the good ones require 123k to buy in 50% off, which might be a major portion of your savings.

Thanks for the advice! I guess Augments do make a major difference in battle, so I'll see if I can get one in the next 50% sale.

since you're a railgun user ,an augment is sadly a must for you .rail without augments is terrible .lemme make it easier for you

1. If u have a very high mobility and skill and a can stack up players or get multikills get hyperspace rounds modes it excels in :juggernaut, siege,cp,gold box events

2.if u use hornet or viking and prefer aggressive battles instead of hiding behing walls get scout .excels in :almost all modes except juggernaut

3.if u use peek-a-boo playing style go for either LCR or round destabilization .round destabilization is better for lower levels of railgun .But depends on luck .you can either deal about 5 k damage or damages like 50-70 .LCR can two shot a medium hull (neither tank using supplies ) but it has a reload time increase .So more time to spend behind walls

What is the point of railgun damage being randomized. It brings too much luck into the game. The max damage is twice as much as the min damage and an mk7 railgun's min damage is lower than an mk1's max damage which is ridiculous. They should make the damage vary slightly with range if they don't want it to always be exactly the same.

It allows the possibility of one-shotting tanks.  Some people like that.

If you don't like that choose the augment that stabilizes damage more.

Damage is not completely random. Railgun has more chance of dealing damage near average damage. So actually dealing the minimum or maximum damage is very very unlikely.

Hyperspace Rounds is perfect for offensive gameplay, align 2 tanks, the one hiding behind the other is the one that is going to die. Perfect tool to take down the Juggernaut, align the juggernaut on the third position and shot hit with great deal of damage. Can easily take down isida train, or clean Control Point or any gathering of enemy tanks.

Large caliber rounds is for experienced player, if you can hit a tank each time you shot then this is for you.

"Death Herald" compulsator is for maxed up turret and player good at stealing kills. Otherwise you will only hunt down light hull. Works best with Hornet OD, there you can aim at medium hulls.

The other augments are gimmicks based on chance or removing chance, or too weak.

I was thinking of Hyperspace since many tanks usually come in between me and the enemy. But I'm not really sure. LCR looks like a sweat deal for MM. I like "Death Herald" but I'm my modification is kinda noob so I'm not sure. lol.

Anyways, thanks :)

I hate Scout...only because I don't have it and I get knocked all over the place by a good rail player with scout. I am thinking I can land another shot before they shoot again and <wham> I see them lighting up. That's when I know they are using scout and I also know I am about to die:)

Scout needs an impact nerf.  Not to the extent of autocannon (-66%) - but it should not be doing 2x Thunder impact when it fires almost as quickly.

Gameplay with Railgun + Mouse Control

IMO, I don't like mouse controls. Just feels so weird and unnatural that the turret moves slower than the camera.

I bought Scout...that is an awesome augment!!! Nice trade off on damage and reload. Much more fun to play with!!!

Do you have any idea how infuriating it is to be on the other side of the engagement?

I don't see how you can regret buying Scout without regretting buying Railgun first. Scout increases Railgun's DPM. It's practically better than Stock after the buff.

I do...it's why I saved and saved and bought it. I am a poor railgun player, but I am willing to learn. The best players in this game have mastered the railgun. The long reload kept me from even wanting to use it. And the high percentage of protections makes it a daunting task for sure. But with Scout it is actually fun.

Defender?   Well EVERY attacker not mounted on hornet will suffer because of that.  Scout is no more more "weakened" by Defender than any other turret or augment.

Corrected. Not all things work well with Hornet. A lot, but not all.

Gauss, however, I wholeheartedly agree with. Why does the Salvo alteration exist? Why does Gauss exist? Was it absolutely necessary to make a turret that overshadows 6 others in the process?

Another point I'd like to raise is Autocannons. How this alteration has flown under the radar without a nerf or rework is beyond me.

I find auto-cannon is not the most useful version of smoky.  Yeah it can be annoying to the target - but - target needs to be under constant fire to be effective.  That's not always easy in todays TO.  And the impact for autocannon is way too low.  That was supposed to be a defining character of smoky - but the nerfed impact is like a tickle.

12 hours ago, At_Shin said:

Actually, the augment received a buff when most of the other augments got one. It's damage reduction was 80% earlier, but after the update it was 75%. This means that a noob autocannon smokey will deal 25% of normal damage with each shot.... I am really starting to hate this augment along with scout, emp and LCR....
