Any input of Shaft M1? I use M0 Shaft as my third turret and I'm considering M1.

- Is the rotation (or moving the snipe around) speed much better?

- What M1s/M0s can it 1 shot kill?

- Should I get it?

I've had Shaft M1 at Sergeant, and it is awesome at this rank. You one-shoot all M0s except Mammy and all light and medium M1 hulls.

You can't just say that, it depends on your style of play.

If I were thinking the same way, I could say that you can see when a rail is going to shoot because the tip of the turret glow, at that point, all you do is shoot at the tip of the rail with your shaft and he will miss you. Doing that 1-3 times will destroy a rail.

Shaft is a role weapon, most effective in team play with a tanker that doesn't live in the scope.   Effective on large maps,  the shaft can weaken or eliminate the defenders around the flag making it easier for the thunders, freeze and isidas to move in and take the flag.   Just disrupting the defense by forcing them to hide will make it easier for the rest of the team attacking.    Defensively,  the shaft can pick off the more dangerous attackers as they approach leaving fewer attackers for the main defenders to stop.   The shaft is also the best at covering their team mates,  killing opposing players who might be in position to kill your guy.    To do this, the shaft cannot keep looking through the scope but must watch the map and be aware of what their team mates are doing.

I love using the shaft but I dislike how at least 50% of shaft tankers play.   Most shafts have no idea what is going on around them,  do not participate actively in  flag defense,  and do not cover their team mates.   The shaft can be a powerful support weapon for a team if the tanker is a team player.   Otherwise,  I agree that a shaft not working in support of a team can definitely be a shaft noob.

I think the best maps for shaft are Brest,  Lost Temple,  Kunger, Serpuhov, Highways and Silence. Silence is the smallest of these  maps but has decent defensible positions a shaft can hold with mines, reducing the amount of protection they might need from their team mates.

I agree. Too many Shaft users get into scope mode and stay that way the entire game and end up with low scores and end up calling the Shaft a bad weapon. Since the new physics, you can afford to live out of the scope and only get into scope to get a shot off at an opponent.

depends,a bigg problem is the overpopulatin of light hulls, everyone is using light hulls!

they are small and hard to hit...

Well if you know that someone has really low health, yeah quick shot them. But other than that, there is not that much to do with it. If you quick shot someone (and they are still alive) you could be dead before the reloading is even done.

I find it's best to play defence with a heavy tank like Titan with Shaft.

That way, you have time to aim even if an enemy is coming towards you because you have a lot of health...so take your time, aim and kill and you're safe.

It's the worst possible weapon to attack with though but the best weapon (along with freeze and isida which are also great for attack) to defend with.

yea, when i use the shaft,i like to drink juice or hot tea B)

and if you use light or medium hulls with shaft is pretty bad, because you can get easily knocked by rico, twins, smoky, thunder, railgun and even by another shaft!

heavy hull is the best to keep your aim steedy almost in any case :D

I'm usually moving about. Even if it's in the same area, I'm constantly moving my turret looking around to either and attackers coming towards me or trying to help out team mates far away being attacked. I only go into scope mode when I know someone's going to come close or when I see someone coming close.

Yeah I agree about other turrents screwing with your aim. Thunder doesn't do it so much...mostly Shaft, Rail or Rico and last, Smoky.

I try and hit the tip of their turret when I hit them so that they lose their aim. I also try and expose as little of my hull as possible so it's difficult for them to aim.

Sometimes, a member of the opposing team will single you out to attack you. You'll often end up trying to kill each other only.

Sometimes, you'll be in scope mode waiting for them to come out of hiding so you can shoot them but they wait till you get a shot off or move (because that means you're not on scope mode) to come out and hit you.

When this happens a good trick is, once you get out of scope mode, don't move, stay still till you reload. Once you're fully reloaded, move a bit. At this point, the opponent may decide to come out thinking you have ro reload and it's going to take 8 seconds for you to reload...but you have already reloaded :D So, you just aim at him and get a shot off. Works very often when a Rail/Shaft decides to duel with me.

When a Shaft gets me more than once I rage-drug and follow them everywhere and kill them, mainly because I find Shafts so annoying but also because I love it when they try and drug with Shaft.

If I know that there is a shaft waiting for me I don't actually rotate my camera view and see if he is moving his turret meaning he is probably not in his scope mode. Instead I listen for that characteristic high pitched sound which is heard when the shaft fires.

And then I come out of cover and attack him!

However a shaftsman can easily prevent others from figuring that out by pressing pause 'P' key when in scope mode so that the sound is'nt heard.

Don't know if this is common knowledge but anyways..
