I see shafts as not only the most interesting weapons, among the most powerful. They are very versitile and can one-hit a wasp or hornet with half charge. Also if you have used up your charge sometimes merely pointing your depleted gun at a small hull and it might very well flee.

Not great in dm, because even though you can steal kills easily, in  scope mode you are defenseless to any attackers. You will find yourself using arcade shots most of the time, and because of the number of threats, you wont make the most of its infinate range, as you will be forced to target those attacking you.

In CTF it depends on how the shaft user uses the shaft. If he kills randomly it has little use in thwarting enemy flag captures or boosting your team's own, but it will get you a decent number or points. If you aim exclusively at tanks that are attacking your base or defending the other, It gets less points, but will help your team a lot. Use this tactic in clan wars!

In CP mode this turret is infinately helpful. It's long range can easily replace the speed of a light tank in stopping enemy captures, but its limited visibility in scope mode stops you from making your own capture, especially in a viking or mammoth, the most common choices to use with a shaft (personally I prefer viking).

In TDM mode this turret is great. If you are lucky enough to have isidas on your team, than you can easily heal what little damage you take from tanks you generally selence with a small shot.As long as you are defended from close combat tanks, and stick to one place, perhaps hiding behind walls while you're recharging if you have a lighter tank than a mammoth, watch you D/L rise and rise.

when a railgun is loading and you are in front of it you get scared but you know that its loading so you can get out of the way and when its done you can take it out but in shafts you cant tell weather they are loading or not. no sign if you start attacking it and its loaded your done and if you think its loaded and you don't kill it and actually its not loaded there goes a kill. Shaft is very hard to protect and goes good with fast hulls you can kill the enemy and then run away before someone takes you out.

No not really, If you ever see a railgun in scope mode laugh and as soon as you see that white light of doom shoot it in the side, thereby knocking off its aim, or more likely with the common hornet choice, killing it. It goes poorly with light hulls as the shaft is a camper weapon, and mobilty is generally incompatible with its sniping mode. It is only hard to protect if you choose a far-off camping location.

I beg to differ:

It IS possible to use Shaft as an offensive weapon, but it requires a lot of skill and quite a bit of luck.

Most Shaft users just find their sniping spot, stay there, and zoom in, waiting for an enemy to show up. That's good and all, but it's not offense. To be offensive, you need to get behind enemy lines. Then zoom, snipe, move, repeat. The only issue is that a single Rico/Twins/Smoky can end you if they see you.

I like to be a couch potato when I use Shaft, but I've seen some really good offensive Shaft players.
