I need to try this out again on Vette. I MUed it to 145 damage... death to M2 Hornets!!

Anyway, my Shaft is mued to about 142 damage. I can one-shot vanilla M2 Hornets without Shaft protection now.

Muing sniping damage on a shaft is actually a

great idea :)  I don't like having to wait for an arcade shot to finish the all-too-common m2 hornet.In fact, all you need is to micro the sniping damage once before you can one-shot that hornet, and some more if you feel like catching some upgraded ones.

They still can. M1 shaft can kill m2 hornets and m2 shaft can kill m3 hornets.

Speaking of crazy damage was anyone here around for when they first released shaft? With its ability to literally one-shot everything? Including Mammoth m3

Unfortunately, Shaft can one-shot any Wasp up to 1 modification higher than it.

 

If you have a good Shaft paint, it isn't a problem.

 

Anyway, I am now a firm supporter of Wasp-Shaft. If you want to be very mobile and are on a map with lots of good sniping spots, it's the way to go. If there are a lot of enemy Shafts around, I like to use Dictator-Shaft.

Huh I swear that I was able to kill m1 hornets. It was before the rebalance so I may have. I know I definitely mu'ed my m1 shaft but not that much. Again I got m1 awhile before the rebalance so it still may have been possible for me to kill m2 hornets. After the rebal. I definitely mu'ed so I can still kill m2 hornets.

I firmly believe in shaft and viking. Strong and relatively speedy. All you need to do is to get to the spot. Once you're there the speed means nothing. With wasp it only takes a good hit and you're finished. I also prefer viking over dictator because of dictators size.

Eh, Wasp is much easier to conceal in bushes than Viking, since its overall size is smaller. Viking might be flatter, but it's wider as well.

 

I don't have Viking anyway, but I'm doing perfectly fine with what I have right now, so I have no need for it. Still, I respect your opinion, and I think everybody has their own personal preferences.

I think it depends on what sort of maps you play on. Shaft-wasp MAY work in certain maps where there is high camouflage (I haven't tried it, so I'm not sure), but in maps like Monte Carlo and Stadium, it is toast.

in big maps is ok to use wasp shaft and in stadium is ok to use a heavy hull with it...

I agree sometimes you need a change of hull. Highland, for example, would be a perfect place for wasp-shaft. Personally I've never tried that combo, so I don't know.

it's max damage at m0 was able to kill m3 viking,but you wouldnt be that fast to release space at 100% bar :lol:

Wasp Shaft would do well in Stadium, if you treat it like railgun. Or, you could go hide under the 'seats', where that little ditch/cave thing is and pop up when ur fully loaded to take a quick shot and then retreat back to cover. Although, this might still work better with Hunter or Viking.

I would argue that shaft is one of the few weapons that would be acceptable to have at m2 when you are a gismo. Because of its tremendous power it can still do plenty of damage to the enemy team. I will admit that having the m3 upgrade for shaft would make you more deadly and efficient, but you could pass with m2. As long as you don't have m1 or below and you are using it at that rank

 

For the record, I have battled against generals that are using m1 hornet and shaft without paint. Now that's embarrassing
