as a shaft user (a successful one at that) myself, I actually really like the laser update. For us, it means 1. No more shaking 2. If your playing for your team, you can keep your laser in a pathway and suddenly its safe to go through for your team and 3. Its really funny seeing wasp/hornet users freak out when the laser sight goes on them. Really, really, funny.

Before it was impossible to play with Shaft on some maps, there is now more maps where it is impossible to play with the new Shaft competitively, many cool maps are now closed for Shaft.
You will love playing with this new shaft at the highest ranks, where the amount of noobs is much smaller and its Shaft will be the target of all.

they say its good to have your laser on narrow ways so the tanks will fear to go there,

I wonder, If were just gonna terrorize them, then how the 'ell are we gonna get D/L?

that's not how you do it,you have to put the laser where they can't see it,and since your aim is completely stable (not 1 mm of shaking) when they pass you come out and BANG :D

been on a bad battle, enemy team was always in our base, but i tricked some people this way.. 1.00 DL with m3 vik m2 shaft

idk how in a battle where my team wins

that is,if your shaft is able to one shot people without paints (without drugs maybe cx)

idk how it is for m3,but considering that i suck at shaft and it's m2 vs m3-4 an 1+ dl sounds good lol

The biggest problem with this update of Shaft, was not lower D / L on some maps.

Shaft was already out of many maps because there was no camp site, or distance to arm the shot. The biggest problem of this update was to remove Shaft more maps.

What I have seen is the great saturation Shaft in a few maps where he can still play.

SHAFT WAS SEVERAL MAPS EXPELLED

I agree that you often don't have time to react to the laser. I've been in several battles with and without shaft. When I am using shaft, I find that even if my laser is on someone for a decent period of time, they aren't able to get away from my shot, or they hardly react. Which gives me the kill. I feel that the removal of the shaking has greatly contributed to this, as I don't have to worry about my shot bouncing off target. This makes for faster target acquisition and elimination.

When I'm not using shaft, I find that it is hard to get away from the laser. It is also somewhat stressful. Like others have mentioned, you see it coming, but there isn't anything you can do except brace for impact and hope it doesn't kill you.

I was in an Industrial Zone TDM earlier today. There was one Shaft on the opposing team (he started out with M1 Shaft/M1 Hunter, switched to Viking for some odd reason), so I decided to pull out Hunter/Shaft/Dirty. From that experience, I learned:

  • Shafts in scope mode are oblivious to the laser sight if they're not looking your way. Really easy to catch them off-guard.
  • There are several spots on Industrial Zone where you can hide your laser sight, giving you a big advantage.
  • If you snipe people quickly and when they're not looking your direction, it's harder for them to find your position. Camouflage helps here.

I also recommend playing in daytime maps with shaft. It can be super difficult to see the laser in the daylight. At night, it's deadly obvious.

Excellent point. At night, it's really easy to see the laser sight, even if you hide it. Daytime, not so much.

Shaft was already unable to play on many maps without camping site or on small maps now will be out of the night?
Shaft is being removed from the game?

Hello everyone, as you know, I go straight to the point, the laser on shaft is a very bad idea, the advantage of using shaft is that you can shoot people at distance, and they don't even know that you're there, the reason for this is, shaft has a slow reload, and of course at close distance the damage low, now with the laser, everyone knows where you are, the second you aim to shoot, the whole enemy team points in the direction on the laser and shoots, on the night maps it's even worst, it's like a Christmas tree, you don't even need to know where the tank is, just aim for the laser, so what advantage does shaft have now ? I would much rather have the shake than the laser, it's great if you're trying to avoid a shaft, but if you are a shaft, not so much, so according to my opinion the laser should be removed, or the fire rate increased, of the damage at close distance increased, the laser goes against all tactics, you stay far from the action, to provide long range support, but tell everyone where you are with the laser.

It all depends on how you play. If you live in scope mode, you will hate the laser. If you play a more dynamic game with the shaft, it can work to your advantage. If you just live in scope mode all day then everybody will know that and they will just avoid the laser but if you get into scope mode only when necessary, none of the tanks will have the time to react to the laser.

I think the laser encourages shaft users to play with the shaft the way it was meant to be played because living in scope mode is just...well...boring.

It may be boring for some people, but not for others.

Also, what is wrong with "living in scope mode?"

When the devs first released shaft, they emphasized its scope. That scope is what sets shaft apart from every other gun. Personally, I see nothing wrong with using shaft as a sniper turret. (Gee, that sounds a lot like what the devs wanted doesn't it?) Anyway, I dislike the laser because it shows the enemy where I am. Sniping has lost the skill element of hiding. There's no reason to take the time to find sniping spots, because the enemy will be able to see you when you're in scope mode. Even if you don't "live in scope mode", you'll still be found, no matter where you hide.

As another point, you said use scope mode only by necessity. What do you expect us to do? We may as well be throwing spit balls at the enemy if we use arcade mode. Shaft is renound for its high damage. Playing only with arcade shots negates this. If your only going to play using arcade, I would recommend a different weapon, because you are really hindering yourself by using only arcade shots.

You're insinuating saying that I said using the scope is a bad thing.

All I said was LIVING in scope mode is a bad thing.

Let me tell you why.

All your team mates racing around frantically trying to grab a flag or kill the other team players while you're just sitting there looking at a very narrow stretch, passively waiting for a tank to come your way. IMO, the least you can do is look around and see if you can assist your team mates. If you see an enemy tank approaching your team mate, then you can get into scope mode and destroy the tank, helping your team mate.

Notice how I use the word "team" :P

Like I said, it's probably to do with the style of play.

The last 3 days, I had 5 instances of a D/L above 20 and I was always in the top 3-4 players on the list and I ONLY use drugs if the attacker uses them against me otherwise I hate using drugs. Maybe it's time to adapt and alter the way you play.

Wow. You're reading that completely wrong.

When I say use a scope when necessary, I mean don't live in the scope mode because you'll become a waste of space.

Let me explain it in more details so you can understand better.

If I'm defending base (like I usually do), I won't just sit and point my shaft in scope mode at the flag I'm defending. Instead, I will look around, see which enemy is approaching from what direction. Once I spot the enemy from one of the many possible paths, I will put myself in a position to take a shot at him and only THEN do I get into scope mode and I hide my laser by pointing it at an object close to my like a wall or even a friendly tank till the shaft is fully charged and then I point the laser at the enemy and shoot and he's usually dead in one shot. Simple strategy that works all the time.

If I was just sitting there pointing my shaft at the flag, the enemy is going to see me when he approaches and he will probably kill me before I even see him.

Also, there's no need to get all frustrated in your responses. It would be nice if people behave on the internet as they would in real life.

You've brought up some very good points.

I use many of those tactics myself.

Though one thing I liked to do before the update was use the scope as a way do assess enemy defence and movement. Because of the zoom, this can be extremely helpful to my teammates. But, I don't consider it living in the scope.

To avoid any further disputes, I'll close by explaining that I wasnt exactly frustrated. Though I'll concede that the way it was written might've caused a misunderstanding between us.

Unfortunately the developers killed this game for me.

I still play in a few maps, but only when the team is very good, otherwise it is waste of time. I even tried to play pointing the laser to an obstacle, but every day it gets worse to play. The team that has Shaft, this at a disadvantage.

Do not want to devote my time and my crystals to learn and develop other weapon

Who liked this update, which makes good use, remember that the next victim of tanki, could be you. I'll look for another game that respects more the player and not totally changes the characteristic of the game..
