Hmph, I haven't seen many high-quality Shafters recently. Most of the Shafts I've been fighting against aren't that skilled, honestly. I wonder why.

TKP please....... Lol I wonder whether it's even appropriate to use both of the words skilled and shaft in the same sentence.

^Most users of every turret I see aren't that skilled...

Tromb please remember the duel and 2 v 2 we had with alts some time back where you said M0 was so slow for you after losing king time<------ :D :D :D that my friend, are two "every" turret users. No pun intended though you were good for your rank :).

It seems like my definition of skilled =/= your definition of skilled. In my book, you're skilled if you can use your turret and hull to their full potential. Most of the Shaft users I'm seeing these days are more chaff than wheat; not hiding their laser sight, using a light hull for camping, not using arcade shots, etc.

The Shafters who know how to use Shaft to its full potential are the ones who are both deadly and interesting opponents to fight. Sniper duels with these people are intense and fun, something that's becoming more rare these days.

I think we should leave the "Shaft is for noobs/not for noobs" argument behind at this point. I don't think debating that will get us any further.

so I'm skilled with shaft

 I RARELY USE IT

  • Here's my strategy
  • first off I try to be efficient and shoot quick
  •  when I'm facing a heavy hull I'll move around a little
  • when my target is moving I'll aim ahead
  • sometimes I'll use a mammoth, titan, or dictator as a shield when I'm at low health or just drug
  • when my target is hiding behind a wall I'll either shoot the turret or aim my laser somewhere else so so my target will think I'm not waiting to snipe them
  • i use dictator with shaft and thats really about it

If I was good with slow things, I'd use Mammoth, not Wasp...

More disappointment on Monte Carlo: lost the third game after winning two in a row because:

1) another shaft user bumped me from my spot then either left or fell asleep

2) I was killed twice because I moved to where the Double Damage drops (I don't usually take it) because the enemy had DA on their Isidas (don't pop like they should when shot) -- two noobs decided they wanted the DD as I was being sniped by an enemy shaft

3) NO ONE was keeping the jumpers from just taking our flag - this is the major problem - I could do it, but then I would get potted in the butt when the enemy strolled over the low bridge.

Despite the problems, I killed 40 (10 Isida), died 5 times. But the 30 minute battle was a 1-10 romp for the Blue.

We need a "school for shaft" so the newbies learn what they need to do, to make it work for the team.

Which Red team is playing better defense?

I use Viking. My dictator and viking have the same armor rating, and if you have to move fast, the Viking will at least outrun a Mammoth.

How do you keep from getting head shot with that dictator? ;)

That was my point... I perform much better M4 vs M4 (test) then I do m0 vs m0

Sorry for the downgote. Meant to quote your post

Lol you haven't got what I'm saying. How can one be good with faster equipment if he is NOT good with even slower equipment ? Faster speeds mean faster reactions and reflexes which I tend to believe somewhat more skills rather than the slower ones. But having such skills using faster equipment won't someone be able to use slower equipment better?

Being used to faster speeds, I'll try to pull off stuff that isn't doable with the lower modifications, so no. I have more possibilities with higher Ms so therefore I am better with them.

Again, I challenged you to a duel M4vM4 next time test was open. You never took me up on it. BTW this is shaft topic

Ya I get what trombone is saying, I used to play with Hornet M2 on my main, then I went play with Viking M1 on my alt and I just ended up doing dumb stuff like trying to capture a flag on a large map, jumping off cliffs in such way that I flipped a lot, trying to pursuit faster enemies etc..

When you use a fast Hull and you switch to a slow Hull it may take some time to get used to and play the correct way.

when and where exactly did you challenge me? Sure but unfortunately we would have to wait 7 mote months for that. I have stopped playing tanki due to my heavy workload /studies in RL .

1. Right after the duel...

2. Nah, only like a week. Open testing was put on hold.

3. I don't play much either  :)

The test server's actually still open right now (at least it was this afternoon); they just took out the machine gun and added Hammer paints (and all other paints) for testing. You'll have to recreate your accounts, but it's still open.

I've noticed that in the game, the laser of the shaft slightly lags behind the shaft's actual aiming point. Better calibration would show the shaft's actual aiming point and make it more fair for other tankers.

As I mentioned peripherally in my other posts, you should play as shaft even if you don't like it:

you can learn what locations can be hit from other locations "to the foot" such as the 3 places that can hit

the roof in rio, and how exposed each one is to certain attacks. You can use this later, to some extent, with

other turrets such as rail and twins that also can fire with some elevation. The worst elevation that I found was with

Railgun (6 to 9 degrees) as compared to Ricochet (WAY too much at 15 to 18 degrees). Railgun has the range, though,

to make that elevation work on battles like Monte Carlo and Berlin, where I saw railguns taking out barely-exposed

shaft snipers, or shooting into Blue's home area (fortunately not the spawn points :o

No. You adjust your training to accommodate your BEST equipment, the one you use the most. This isn't cross-training, where you *have to be good with slow stuff too* -- that sounds vaguely game-fixated. We use the turrets we enjoy, not the ones we need to get better at. That's like saying you should keep going into battles that you suck at just so you can "learn how to get killed more slowly."

I had a lock on Noise, then I started seeing these trolls come up and push me over the side to get the spot. Never play that spot again. :(

a BIG - to your comment. You haven't got my point -.- Please go re- read my previous post. A skilled player is never hampered with the equipment he/she is using and can simply adapt to lower end modifications of a weapon IF he/she has used a higher M of it recently. J

Quoting you " we use the turrets we enjoy, not the ones we need to get better at" <--- that's what all noob shafters say.

Thanks anyway for your feedback. Appreciate it.

Ahem,

Since the recent improvement in Shaft, I might start playing in it again!

would love to see you back in the industry
