Hate without reason does not make you look any smarter...

Do I have to give out reasons every time someone comes and asks for them? Keep yourself updated with the thread.

Ok there are many reasons I hate shaft . Since you asked I will politely list down 2 of my reasons.

1) Shaft simply gives birth to noobs- While playing with shaft one simply CANNOT move his hull. Getting to know how to move your tank around is a great skill that is even hard to be mastered at the highest level of this game. (If you have seen any of the starseries matches you may have seen those players moving in reverse "knowing" the map and the stats of their hull like the back of their hand) do you think such skills are earned easily and playing with shaft will help a player grow such skills?

The same thing goes with targeting and many other sets of skills well. A player who is avidly playing with his beloved shaft may lose his targeting, turret rotation, turret hull co ordination etc, in the long run. These skills play a vital role while playing with every single one of those other turrets in this game. Not to mention if such players are planning to enter an official tournament or a recognized clan in starladder in latter stages of their game it is then they will realize that their career has been ruined by shaft.

I know what you are thinking of right now... Doesnt shafts arcade mode/being a mobile Shafter help one improve his skills? Yes it does, but the amount it helps is minimal due to the fact that you do the same thing 100x times more with every other combo.

2) Shaft totally ruins the dynamic centered gameplay of this game- I really really don't understand the reason why shaft was introduced to this game in the first place. After it was added it totally ruined the dynamic gameplay which was was one of the greatest aspects of this game. ( Maybe this is one of the reasons why shaft is being hated by many other players? )

I can list down many more reasons. But I wont waste my time going into them since I think these 2 will be clearly enough to prove my point. I don't also blame lower rankers for choosing shaft either. The main reason being shaft I really OP at lower ranks and they will simply be choosing it because of the high damage and the lack of protection paints against it at that level.

You might also want to know whether I have any experience with shaft to be talk like this. Yes , I do. In one of my alts I have a M4 shaft and I have used it for quite some time. I was at the exact same spot currently most of you guys are in, admiring shaft. It's just I don't want to see damage done to my skills at the beginning of my career ( which led me to start over) to be done to any other lower ranker.

Yes, I know you've given reasons, but it's just annoying when you have a hashtag or something that you pin to every related comment...

Shaft is still a great turret. The addition of the laser is great. So what if the rage killers know where to find you should you stay in the same spot. They will hunt you down regardless. I am waiting for them to add a flashing strobe to the top of the turret--to negate our use of obstacles. If your only goal--in Tanki--is to "have a career in StarLadder", enjoy your Rail & Smoky. I use other turrets and my very particular set of skills has not suffered from using Shaft.

Actually, comic point is that, you don't have to see the laser for detecting shaft's position. You can look at the bullet's enter and exit point while hitting. That gives you 2 possible location.  One of them probably at the sky or underground, so go to other one  ;)  ;)

1) Starladder doesn't mean everything. Once you advance in your ranks and when you want to get used to other turrets that's when you begin to realize that certain aspects that you should have been developing throughout your career are lacking within you. This happened to me once and that's how I know it.

2) My post was meant toward players who "worship" shaft or use it without using any other turret within the game. Tbh even I use shaft from time to time when I get bored with other turrets.

3) I wonder whether you have faced any skilled players to state such thing as your skills have nit suffered due to using shaft long term. You might be good relative to certain players (due to the fact that you use other turrets) who are even worse but does that mean you're skilled enough to have a great future in tanki with good clans?

I cant stand shafts because they are worthless in a CTF game especially when like 3 or 4 of them join your team... they just sit there and go for kills clueless as to what is going on around them, its so stupid.  They also aren't very good at DM or TDM at higher ranks since they can only really one shot wasps and hornets at that point.

i have use shaft since i was able to and im always on top of the leaderboard no matter what gamemode. i capture flags and points. everyone has their own playing style so dont criticise everyone just for 2-4 players in ur team

Loving anything except shaft. :)

#ShaftEqualsNoobGenerator

Not anymore. The laser update really requires shafts to have more skill. And anyways, you also have to be skilled to get wasp and hornet.

Yeah right, covering your laser behind a prop and shooting when an enemy is passing by. I can see how much "extreme" skill is requires....meh

I'm talking about shooting something FAR AWAY, like it's designed for, not waiting for a close-up like you said. When shooting something far away, then you need to have skill to shoot unnoticed, and what I said about wasp and hornet still holds true.

Bro please, I have used shaft for more than all the experience in your career added up. ( if this isn't you alt of course) and I have a M4 shaft ( only damage fully MU d) rusting in one of my alt's garages. I DO know what it takes to kill a target far away(yeah that's far beyond your imagination) but that my friend IS NOTHING compared to the amount of skills that is required to use any other turret in this game. Be it a short ranged isida or a long ranged railgun. I'm not asking you to stop using your beloved shaft or anything. I'm just stating my opinion with the experience gained through shaft.

It very much has the same amount of skills, you can't exercise as much mind games due to the laser, and mind games is literally 50-75% of PvP. There's also the vulnerability of sniping, but i'm not breaking my fingers

In what way is it more difficult to use shaft than, for instance, Rail? You do all of the same things, just 1,000 times more often.

Think about it, if you used shaft from when it's first available to WO3 you're not skilled with other turrets. Skill requires more practice than using something for five minutes.

Also consider driving, the axiom of using shaft is that you cannot shoot and drive at the same time. Your maneuvering abilities will suffer significantly. And if you're mostly using arcades shots you should rethink your turret choice. I knew someone who did this in a Kolhoz CTF, just ran around with wasp in arcade mode. He actually acquired a decent ammount of points, but think about how much more effective he could have been with Smokey, Thunder, or Rail. .

your maneuverability will have to be good if you want to escape an attacker. Shaft is probably close to one of the most difficult turrets to play effectively without camping. (inb4 camp master, Freeze) If you are going to "quickscope" you HAVE to be good at it or you are a literal sitting tank. You have to assess the battle, find out the best place to snipe, and continue to reassess the battle with marginal error. you CANNOT mess up, unlike with every other turret. Rail is easier because you have a good view to work with and the ability to drive and shoot. (not saying this denotes rail as having less skill, but the knowledge of that skill allows more margin of error when playing) I might add more if i think of it too

For all the people that use shaft with skill, there are hundreds who just sit and shoot, raking in kills and doing nothing for their team. I think that is where most of shaft's poor image has originated. Ever been in a very close CTF and had a shaft join? The kind that puts himself in a forward position, spawn kills, gets destroyed, and repeats? I've had this happen dozens of times. They tend to be slightly more useful than mults.
