Let's Discuss Shaft!

The irony is that mouse controls were creating to help noobs learn the game and have fun without the difficulty of learning keystroke movements but if they purchase Shaft they will never figure out how to use it because it is screwed right now.

 

I play on a MacBook Pro laptop without a mouse. I use Safari. My Shaft spins around involuntarily and aims for the ground or the sky on it's own and you can't stop it. 

 

I have stopped using Shaft because it is now obsolete. So mission accomplished - you've wrecked my favourite weapon.

I alsohad his problem, I had to press the key in diretion the shaft started turning to stop it. Kind of annoying but i might switch to mouse controls when using shaft cus they are kinda nifty.

I'm not sure about using mouse controls. I may try them out though, but something tells me the keyboard is more traditional and professional. Not implying mouse users are noobs, no way I would say that. But you never know, I may change my mind about using a mouse. But for now, I'll wait for the fix, only then I'll get back in the game. I could use another turret like Freeze or Isida in the meantime but that just keeps me on the extreme defensive which is generally boring unless I'm really needed with those turrets out there.

Today I attempted to use the shaft and I was extremely disappointed. For whatever reason, my shots in sniper mode did not seem to be hitting their targets. Has anything changed with shaft of which I should be aware?

 

I shot the weapon thousands of times last year and I knew how to use it very well. But I swear it doesn’t seem like my shots are landing where I am aiming. I see small puffs of dirt off center but often cannot tell if that’s supposed to be my shot, or another player’s. Very weird. From what I have been reading it sounds like some mouse control update may have affected the turret in unexpected ways.  I use the keyboard and I have never seen the turret so inaccurate.

 

I also recall that there was some random movement in the barrel…which I was accustomed to.  Now it seems to be gone.  Did they do away with it?

I think you'll want to know the following:

• The recent Mouse Control update glitched out Shaft- the shots are wildly inaccurate in scope mode for a lot of people. This is the source of your problems, it seems. The developers are working on fixing it.
• The laser sight update eliminated sway, so there's no ambient movement of the sights.

Hm, Shaft is still working fine for me. I think the mouse controls could help with sniping. The right click function lets you look around without turning your turret, so it's really useful for hiding your laser sight- point it at a nearby wall (or the ground), hold down the right mouse button, and you can look anywhere without revealing your laser sight. Once you've found a target, let go of the right mouse buttom, watch as your cursor aims at your target, and let go. They'll never know what hit them.

 

This could be really beneficial to Shaft players once they get the targeting fixed.

Well, I was going take that somewhere, but I'll let it rest, it's family fun in here.

 

 

 

That said, I somehow would love to hear about how you miss the shake of a shaft.

Which maps in CTF?

Sorry for the late reply, I've been a little out of pocket.

 

I play just few maps.  I like the realistic kinds.  I tend to play Serpuhov, Brest, Berlin, Dusseldorf, Industrial Zone, and Chernobyl from time to time.  I love Massacare but it's rare to find a CTF of it lately.  As for the maps I take first on often(more often), well, Serpuhov and Brest.  I've done it on occasion in Berlin, Dusseldorf, I don't believe I have, but I could be wrong.  I have and do play other maps, Rio and a few others, and I have taken first in Rio once or twice, but that was more of a slaughter vs players hat sucked, not a fair fight.

I'm actually kind of surprised at how many M1 Shafts are still being used at my rank.

I bet they are lay overs from the push to the mindset shafts were noob mindset and they are just nostalgia pieces now (that and the fact it's EXPENSIVE as heck to shaft).

The only advantage to have practically NO workable Shafts in Monte Carlo is that I can use my Railgun paint and more or less ignore those shots. It isn't until the upgraded M3's that Railgun overpowers the armor and paint. I forgot to use it on Serpuhov and got killed repeatedly by railguns.

The game is not funny without shaft :( Even with my other guns :(
Nobody cares where they are going or who are seeing them, anyway there is not any shafter that can kill you with your 1 mistake :( Everyone just moving around without idea...

Absolutely not, I'm thinking of making a commentary video about it.

Once you play with mouse controls as a Shaft, and got used to it; you'll love it.

 

There are those bugs though, but they are being worked on.

Anyway scope mode is much more convenient to use.
