I hate shaft. It is annoying. It's for noobs who can't aim without a scope. All you have to do is hold the space bar and someone's going to die.

This is called "provocation"!

Don't even t ry to answer it please!

Developers, dont you see that you have turned shaft into an ordinary smoky like gun? where is its identity of being a sniper?

please take our ideas into consideration

thank you

After playing a couple games with other shafts and some games by myself, reading forum, and going on server chats, I can't help but be frustrated on how the TO community typically uses Shaft.
All I can say is...

  • Sitting around and exclusively firing in scoped mode is using only half of the gun, and therefore only half the usefulness.
  • Some people just don't know when to stop camping a cold spot or when to come out of scoped mode for over half the match. Do this and you are no different from a mult.
  • Shaft is not a 1-on-1, head on duel weapon like Smoky, Ricochet, etc. So for the love of all that is good, STOP thinking that you have to kill everything and everyone yourself in scoped mode!!
  • Kindly move around more and actually use the buffed-up arcade shots that TO gave us. It's actually quite useful in assisting your teammates in killing weakened enemies, and helps keep you alive longer by having situational awareness.
  • Quit complaining about Mouse Controls--learn it if you will, using both keyboard and MC is great too, but please don't waste energy on something that'll stay for the foreseeable future.
  • A shaft that can effectively adapt and switch roles in battle will quickly find themselves in the top 5 places, at least. And yes, this means moving around and using the 'infamous' arcade mode.
  • If you really can't fight back with a shaft, then don't push it! Switch to another freaking weapon instead of throwing a raging, nonsensical tantrum!

I don't like to take sides on turret/hull discussions, especially with the one weapon I've grown attached to for the last few years, but...
I'll have to agree with some of the Shaft haters for now, out of disappointment.

Ah, wish S'Vision was still here to set things right.

wanna test my shaft? :P

Gratz.

I'd love to go on a 1vs1, but I got my end semester exams at the moment. Studying engineering is rather unforgiving, specially in the second year. Thanks by the way:)

Grats 'mate. Make sure to own noobs for me.

Haha thanks brother, will do with pleasure;)

This, this is very true. Believe me, arcade mode has saved me many times while going head to head with long and mid-ranged guns at point blank range.

Shaft with the scope mode is great when using mouse, i love it a lot, but later when i go into moving the tank around around to change position or to use the arcade mode then it turns so hard to control with mouse, i am trying to train myself on this but sometimes even the tank keeps on sliding backward when using mouse . If shaft was only for sniping then using mouse was to be great .. but now it can't even destroy a hunter, so basically shaft is good for the low rankers, as when i use it with my low ranks like shaft m1, its superior to most weapons cuz of its relative damage vs the rest of the hulls compared to its rank.

mentioning the good and negative points of everything can help the developers to work on better changes ..

Most of the changes in the game are counting on the negative and positive feedbacks on items' features, but of course we are not aiming onto turning everything totally positive, but at least the balance and the idea behind an item must take its place

A shaft is supposed to be a sniper .. DOT

Becasue they think Shafts are supposed to do nothing but sit in one corner and snipe, and they think that's as far as pro a Shafter can get. Nuts they are!

Oh, and it's very odd to notice that there are still a lot of Shaft players at our high ranks who still hold the space button and shoot their targets rather than be aware of their environment and adapt, like those who camp in just one or two obvious spots and know they'll get thrashed, but they still do it. Rather insulting to the turret and disappointing I must say

After I was doomed some Gsimmo DM battles, I was thinking if I am too powerless or unskilled to success in a Gsimmo battle or not.  :(

Well, I had just needed to play a non-drug battle!    :D  :P

By the way, there were more Mammoths than light tanks!  :P  :P  :P

46 kill 530 crystals, sweet!

Well, I do suppose Mammoths and Titans are most useful in a Deathmatch at higher ranks since lighter tanks won't be useful because you will run into trouble wherever you are.

Awesome score for your rank in such a case, I must say!

It doesn't matter, many people still play with Hornet because it's popular; thus thinking it'll be good anywhere.

Food for Shafts.

Light tanks will still be useful in Deathmatch for big maps, where they can move about a little freely, as long as there's good cover. Speaking of which, I've not tried out a Deathmatch in a looooooong time. CTF is quite fun since you got a choice of roles to play depending on how your team works. Not saying Deathmatch isn't fun, it does require a lot of strategy to get to the top, and proper equipment

I should've considered upgrading my Mammoth at least during the sale, in case I try out a Deathmatch event sometime. The only upgraded hull in my garage is the Hornet, because I play too much CTF

Played another 30 minute Monte Carlo match today. Score was still 0-0 and there were around 20 minutes left. I took a look at the scorecard and I see it's only 4 of my team versus 8 of the enemy. I thought we were damned but I also realised something surprising - my team was attacking so well that it looked like the teams were almost even. And yes, the other team had some good players and they were attacking  as well, but they missed a few good chances everytime they took me out, since I was the only defense.

Soon a Mammoth Shaft joined us and he defended really damn well, even did a shocking save on our flag, something even I with my Hornet wouldn't have had time to do. Normally a lot of less skilled players use a combo as I've noticed about 90% of the time, but this guy was phenomenal. Never seen a more alert player with Mammoth Shaft.

We went down 1-0 somewhere in between, although the score could have gone beyond 5-0. Around 10 minutes to go, and more people joined our team, and we won! I've never felt more happier to have helped hold down the base while outnumbered

TIP:

If you are outnumbered, but your teammates are better than opponent players, stay on playing and hope that help will come.

Yup, because your team deserves the help they need if they play so well:)

Well, I've been going through what all that's written in here.  I am relatively new to the world of Tankionline to begin with.  According to me, the shaft, the railgun, the thunder are the three most potent weapons of all.  They can be extremely deadly and if in the right hands can actually change the face of any battle.  But for a shaft to be the most effective gun in your team you need any one of these

1. Either isida support (to keep repairing you between reloads)

2. Another shaft nearby

3. Another railgun nearby

Eversince I started using one I have found more crystals at the end of every battle than I had with even a railgun. Mate your shaft to a stable hull(I use a dictator) and am also keenly looking at the Titan and you can actually deal great damage to the opponents.  Since you have to mate it to a heavy hull means you cannot go in to capture flags or points, but yes, a fully upgraded Shaft together with a stable fortified hull can be a real challenge to take out and can prove to be an extremely able defender of the base.  Add to that the ability to hit far with accuracy, well that takes the cake actually.  Shaft users are generally more vulnerable to weapons with more rate of fire but even they are forced to come in at close ranges to be effective.

Just yesterday, I was in a 30 min CTF battle in the Rio map, when suddenly I found my self outnumbered around midway.  There was a stage when I was alone for about 10 odd mins against 7-8 tanks.  But, by then my killed vs destroyed figures were already about 35-7 when they all started massacring me.  Even at that stage, I destroyed 1 against being destroyed twice or may be thrice, but kept on fighting.  Suddenly with about 10 mins to go, some players joined my team and we were at par with the opponents, and it was payback time then!! When a shaft is on fire, it's really hard to fight back.  I've mated mine to a Dictator M0(soon to be upgraged to M1) and my M1 Shaft is also microupgraded to 50% already on nearly all parameters.  When I found that both the teams were on par in terms of the number of players I literally gave it to my opponents
