Its a shame no one cares about this turret anymore, we would still have loads of shaft users if tanki hadn't bullsh*tted it with that laser, whether it was weak or powerful, the laser defeats the true purpose of the weapon which is why many have given up on it, i can't remember the last time seeing one, but you know, ignorance is ignorance

Personally, if you hadn't noticed, I believe that the laser added a very nice element to Shaft, and that element is challenge. As you said, you haven't seen anyone recently who's used the Shaft before, and this is because no one really knows how to use it properly with the update, and none of them were actually willing to try and learn; they simply abandoned it when it changed. Much like some couples do when they feel even slightly uncomfortable with how their spouse/partner has changed.

Still, I thus far have been able to use Shaft to it's true potential, and it completely decimates the battlefield in the large majority of cases. And yes I do remember which purpose they eliminated that you are refering to; the purpose of stealth sniping. And now most feel that Shaft has turned from being an elegant art of sneak attacks into a desparate race for points once it's being used, which is exactly what every other turret user (save Railgun) has to experience. I will agree with you there, however, imagine a Mammoth + Shaft with Rail + Shaft protection, sitting in one of the tree clusters on Lost Temple. Please do tell me how that's fair.

The point is that its not a threat, nor is it worth struggling with it. The weapon is still powerful but as you can see the number of shaft users has dropped

Right but how many people would actually bother to get mammoth and shaft/rail protection hiding in clusters? It would work for a while, but you would need to pick certain locations, which the enemy could easily figure out and start targeting you especially, i used to do that as well, but it got boring and non effective after a while

I would agree if larger maps were more popular, but most users on tanki can't even run those massive maps

Yes, that situation in particular would be rather rare, however, there are many other examples, as without the laser it takes nigh forever to find a Shaft, and even before they do, the Shaft has already moved to a different spot on the map. This hit-and-fade tactic works on maps as small as Future and everything above. Just not normally on those like Polygon, which is very popular, however, I still operate fairly well on that map.

Guys. Why r u complaining about laser? From my expierience only wasp on nitro can run from laser (and my pc isnt so fast)

Look at the picture, i made print screen like 20 min ago...

There were 2 shafters, noone was drruging except that first thunder with double damage, rest used only boxes.

I think that shafter is OLD SCHOOL SHAFTER - it means, stay, camp, shot after a long period of time

Im moving, using both: snipe mode and arcade mode,

It was NON m0/m1 battle, it was m2/m3.

So when they nerfed the Shaft, you replied "Challenge accepted!". :)

What do you think paints are for?

<_< *claps* You do realize that every other single turret in the entire game can be handled without paints, right? Paints are meant for a person to get a distingt advantage/nullification over certain kinds of turrets. Turrets were never meant to be overpowered on their own, maybe with x2 damage, and maybe when it's M3 vs M2, but we all know why there's an advantage there.

Your point is...? You just said shaft is overpowered and paints give you an advantage, so why not get a shaft paint to give you that advantage if you think shaft is too OP? Problem solved. The only time shaft was too OP was before the rebalance

Ugh... I hate to be short but I usually get irritated easily, which is why I don't debate well. I, for one, wasn't entirely sure what you were reffering to when you had wrote that original comment. It was my impression that you were attempting to make a snide comment about a supposedly palpable fact. And this is why I responded in turn. Either way, I also thought you were refferencing the original Shaft, the one which was OP.

I don't see why people say that shaft has been nerfed. It has actually been perked but the main thing why people feel that shaft is nerfed is due to the fact that the hulls have been much more highly perked (higher armour) causing shaft to become slightly lesser effective. Hope this clears many people's doubts :)

Tanki also increased shaft's sniping damage so that kinda balances it out  :)

As you can see I can 1 shot m3 vikings that don't have MU. Imagine how much more effective the gun would be without the laser  -_-

I love the 1 shot kills. I don't even find this gun that OP cause of this noob laser. I'm not saying it's underpowered though.

Did shaft get nerfed because noobs kept crying, or is it just the devs and their stupid updates?

Whiner noobs who could stand being one shotted.  Druggers can't win when they can't find what they want to kill in the time their drugs are in effect.  Even this way, we still make life hell, and yes, there is an army of morons that would love to see the shaft removed, but tough, we're here, and no matter what they have tried, we still manage to make life hell for ****** players that can't play in a REAL fight.  Devs of course have NEVER been friends with shaft, so they are generally persona non-grata for Shaft players.  We are constnatly under fire in updates and any decision that would favor a shaft or another platform, they always side with the other platform.  In the last set of tank performance tweaks, they RAISED the reload time that has always been rough enough for shafts, and they did it to both Scoped and Arcade mode, and lets face it, in arcade mode, shafts can't afford ANYMORE delay between shots anymore.

But whatever, we have still managed to over come, and in a strange twist of fate, I have noticed a trend lately that I HAD NEVER seen before.  TEAMS of shafts, like 7, with maybe one or two other tanks, are popping up in games and THEY ARE WINNING.  Now, to their credit, these guys really KNOW HOW to shaft, but it's been a week or two now where at least two games a game, I bump into these majority shaft teams.  Maybe just once a day on occasion, but it's not rare anymore.  They not easy wins for CTF teams because their capture count is generally lower than most games, BUT YOU CAN FORGET ABOUT taking theirs.  These guys shut down anything, and I mean anything, that comes near their base.  I managed to squeeze into a slot on one of these mostly shaft teams as an odd man out and it rocked.  These guys really get the timing and nuances of running a shaft defense and flamers and freezes not with standing, overlapping fields of fire and some drugs unfortunately, and they were unstoppable.

On that note, does anyone know who these people are?

Lol I love to scare enemy railguns because if you hit the tip of their barrel they suffer damage. they usually forget us shafts can hit their barrels.

UPDATE:  I now have m2 shaft. Time to dominate!  B)

Ah, OK. Thanks. I noticed in CTF that Shafts fight each other on top while everyone else is playing the actual game below. I guess that's why I see a lot of Shafts in Stadium and Brest.

Well lets be real, Brest was practically made for Shafts.  If one teams has shafts and the other doesn't on Brest, the one without will lose.  I love Brest.  Long range open spaces and targets running around that rat maze, SO EASY to kill, it's like fish in a barrel.  Maybe some shafts hang around and just pick each other off, but let me tell you, I relish to moment where I can cap a flag runner down below, and I am up on high, SO HARD to get to.  Detestible, frustrating, onry, crass, cruel, and loving every moment of it.  Brest belongs to shafts period.  Now, Sniper/Counter Sniper is the game there of course, so that's why you see epic sniper wars.  You need three at least up top to make it work.  One to snipe flag runners, and two more to cover fields of fire of enemy snipers trying to pick off you sniper trying to stop the flag runner.  It gets complicated FAST up there.  Even up there you're field of view is limited and a tanker from one side opposite your area of attention is gonna pick you off easily, you're always partly exposed at some angle up there.

Stadium I always thoguht was a little dumb, but that said, it was okay without lasers.  Shaft+laser+stadium = dumb and boring fool's errand.  It can be fun for a little while, but it just becomes how many can you shot after spawning before you're picked off.  There is little to no real cover to use.

You are right about the hull armor making things different for shafts, but facto f the matter is, ultimately, dmaage wasn't messed with, but ROF was, and that translates less rounds fired, thus perked is a lie.  Don't go apologizing for the sorry devs that cave to whiners.  There have been NO PERKS given to shafts except better arcade damage, but then the took away the ROF, thus it was a wash, nothing gained, and in sniping, something lost.  We've been screwed OVER AND OVER, and still, we endure.  Lose the smiley faces and the light hearted excuses.  Shafters are hard core players, period, and we so far have made the best of a bad deal, that's all, and we still know that this turret has been maligned, but it's still mean if you play it right.
