My three tips for shaft:

-Worst disadvantage of shaft: Enemies see your laser, and they know where you are and what your aiming at.

How to avoid it: Aim at something else until the shaft charges up, and then just shoot them

-When shooting at a moving tank, aim a small bit in front of it, and when it comes to the spot you are aiming at, BAM!

-If your first (charged) shot doesn't kill a high-armour target, like dictator or mammoth, usually a second arcade shot  should do the trick. ;)

If you get to higher rank, this won't work anymore, as people can see your laser in front of them and just stop or back up(and since lot of people have m4's, tanks are quite fast at highest ranks), which might make you miss. Always smarter to aim back of them, even when moving.

One of the best tips: Use of R button and knowing MU levels of viking, titan, mammoth in current game is so huge . By knowing your enemies, you can kill them faster. Use of arcade shot once against M4 viking and then full scope mode makes the kill, as people do not heal when only 66 damage has been done :D. Similar with titan and mammoth. isida is abit more difficult as they heal, but not impossible.

But nice tips!

This is how you dominate and make people really angry.

In my 2+ years of using Shaft, I've never thought of doing that.

I usually hit Vikings with a fully charged shot and then finish them off with an arcade shot, but that gives them the opportunity to heal up or get murdered by someone else since they only have a sliver of health. The one advantage this method has is that at the very least you can get a lot of damage on them immediately, but I suppose that's not really a good thing in DMs. Thanks for the tip.

I used to kill people using his method with my op M1 shaft long ago

Same, can't say I ever thought of it this way, makes good sense.

What module do you use for DMs? And do you frequently mine the place before adding DD ?

Anybody else noticing that the latest version of the SHAFT POINTS UP glitch is "SHAFT WON'T MOVE DOWN" glitch ??

-- you have to click down, then hold down, then click down again to get the turret to lower!

Why is Shaft the only recoil turret that does not work when you're half/full flipped and it's sticking in a wall or the ground?  I.e. cannot re-flip self at all.

It's hard for shaft players to figure out the protection module your enemies are wearing unless they come at close range which shaft isn't used for. I think there should be atleast an option to have the enemy player's nickname displayed for shaft users.

PS: it was easy to figure the protection by checking their paint before the protection module update.

They nerfed shaft too much so weak now

I have shaft M4, and it is not weak.

Just, not very adaptive

On your rank, it is weak, correct..

However, you will like it after M2 :)

Neat idea!

But not the christmas tree interface we're seeing now... scope mode should have it's own interface.

We're already dealing with limited view here.

I will say up front Shaft is about the only weapon I use, and I do it on a Viking for mobility.  I do it because:

  1. I am old.  I can't multitask well enough to drive, turn turrets and shoot.  Drives me mad.
  2. I am old.  I have the patience to find a good position to support my team and try to dominate some ground for them, to release others from defense or cover attacks.
  3. I am sad.  As someone who did 22 years in the Army, I like having a tank that's well.... like a tank.  In 2 decades I never saw a tank firing blue balls or bouncing shots round corners.  Honest, not once.
  4. I admit I am still low level, being a Captain, but I have helped my team win many a battle and can honestly say that to date I don't think I have cost one.  If I join a team and it's already got shafts, I bail out and go elsewhere so I don't handicap the play.

Acting like a radar picking up everyone within a certain radius.

Too right mate. I never thought about this tactic. I pretty much do what you do.

When I bought centaur kit on my alt

My friends were crying "you wasted crystals","shaft is noob weapon omg" seriously shaft m3 sucks?

Doing something with Shaft M3 takes effort, real effort.

You will need some mastery to get good effect, but I guess you will be fine after understanding basics

Okay, let me give some positive

Works good on multi-point CP games, as they have to enter your shooting region.

Works good at many DM games, depends on number of players and maps, as good at kill steal

Works good with DP, as kills many with one shot.

The only reason I still play this game is shaft. I wouldn't reach warrant officer 1 if there were no shaft.
