Shaft is the less used turret in the battlefield. It is not a reliable weapon in any map, everyone's bullet will hit you before you open fire because it needs to load before firing. It loads a lot slower than Railgun's shot, so everyone relies on Railgun when facing someone at distance. The maps are not big enough to make a Railgun user miss a shot against a player who is in the other side of the map. Thunder and Vulcan are also used very oftenly to fight at long range because they deal a considerable amount of damage when their maximun effective range has been exceded. Shafts are not useful at all when fighting at close range because it is only long range intended. The guns I mentioned before are alot more versatile because they can be used in almost every map and they are even better than Shaft in "Shaft's maps" such as Madness, Brest, Lost Temple, Highways... My idea is to add the ability to alternate Shaft's zoom when it is... zoomed. When zooming, a,w,s,d keys are not used. I think this can be easily implemented and will make Shaft a bit more reliable in smaller maps such as Atra, Sandbox, Red Alert... It should not lose its "penetration" feature... it should be even boosted... Laser? For the love of God ( no need to say something else about it ) It is the only sniper gun and there isn't any truly suitable map for it, so let's make it a bit more reliable in the maps we already have.

That is not true at all. I was playing Poly DM today drugs disabled and become first with lead of 4 kills. When drugs enabled, I usually have lead of 20 kills over second place.

Barely anyone using protection against shaft on small maps as not very many people use shaft, but if you take experienced shaft user and put him to ANY map, he has proper chance to win because shaft is unpredictable weapon due to arcade and scope mode shots. Laser is what ever, as it's super easy to just hide it.

When are they going to fix the issues with shaft since the last major update a month or so ago?

Now that it shows the kill points of each shot, I can see how much damage I inflict with each shot. My arcade shot for my shaft turret is 613 according to the info in my garage. When I shoot other tanks in arcade mode, it only inflicts 226 on the enemy tank. This needs fixed right away!

This also has been happening in sniper mode. My full sniper shot should inflict 2099 according to my current garage information. A full shot will only inflict 1049 damage. With double damage, it will only inflict 3099 damage. This needs fixed!

Often when I shoot in sniper mode, I hit the enemy tank with a solid shot, but it does not inflict any damage whatsoever. It is like a ghost shot. This needs fixed right away!

Why did shaft's power to flip itself back up off its side with hornet go away? Very frustrating with the lack of impact force generated to tip a hornet hull off its side with shaft. Horrible update in my opinion.

When I am on my side with the hornet hull, an arcade shot is weak and does not flip me, but an arcade shot only has 176 impact force. How come when I am on my side and using a full powered sniper shot, which has 548 impact force, it still will not flip me over? This is extremely frustrating.

You're dumb, it's called an M3 Shaft protection module, and they are the bane of the earth. Chances are he also had Double Armored drugged, so it's not a bug/glitch, it's just someone really afraid of Shaft.

Please think before you post stuff.   In the past few months there have been many Shaft bugs: sniper shots doing arcade damage,  unable to move in non-scope mode, "ghost bullet" glitch.  This has been confirmed by many Shaft players and I have experienced it myself.

It happens on every single tank I shoot.

How is it possible that every single tank is scared of shaft and has that protection over the course of playing for 2 hours in multiple battles?

It was a glitch that was just fixed because now that glitch doesn't happen at all.

Who is excited for the new shaft alteration?

I'm interested in seeing how well it will perform. We haven't gotten any numbers on it yet, so I have no idea what differences it would make in terms of gameplay.

The current Shaft's arcade shots are kind of weak, but they reload quite quickly, only a little slower than Thunder. They are a 3 shot kill on light hulls and are perfect for finishing off medium hulls in the common full-charge + arcade shot combo, since the finishing shot reloads quickly. If the alteration makes the arcade shots a 2 shot kill on light hulls instead, Shaft will become become a pocket Railgun in arcade mode, but using it in conjunction with scope mode shots will be difficult since it will take longer to reload. An enemy might slip past you before you can finish them off, and you might be caught empty handed if someone surprises you at close range.

I suppose that you could pair the upcoming alteration with the Heavy Capacitors to spec your Shaft for maximum damage potential (you might not even need to finish your targets off :o ), but the result would be super slow. I would prefer using only the Heavy Capacitors (for very good long range performance while retaining the normal arcade mode as a backup weapon), or using only the new alteration (for those using Shaft as a run-and-gun weapon). Then again, this is all conjecture. I'll just wait and see how it plays out.

Very excited for the new alternator. It will be extremely useful in DM battles aswell on CTF battles when doing viking/shaft and trying to get flags BUT this of course when we actually get some real numbers to compare, might get too slow reload.

@DESTRUKCO Nice, keep killing them!

Shaft was designed for total noobs and cowards to still be able to play the game. Hide little coward hide. Get you a mans turret and go fight the enemy cowards.

Shaft is the hardest turret to use, against higher-ranked skilled players. If you die a lot from Shafts, even while drugging, you clearly cannot deal with them. It is the second-most underpowered turret.

Who said it had to be a "man's turret"? Just because you don't use the turret to charge into the enemy doesn't mean it can help the team more than any Firebird or Smoky.  Shafts, last time I checked, took out the most enemies, including:

-those attacking the flag

-those carrying the flag (where they would be out of the reach of anyone else)

-those chasing their own team's flag carrier (take out the freeze who is freezing the flag-capturer to death

-those defenders that nobody else can deal with (Mammoth-Vulcan) and the Isida behind them.

Maybe you have played with bad Shaft players (any turret can be misused) but the good ones will always help the team and fight the enemy.

No need to slam the observation he was making. Kindly teach him that protection modules, drugs, etc. effect the ultimate damage of each shot registered in TO. BUT I agree with your post...I love the legacy protection paint stone and corrosion because it gave me shaft/rail/thunder protection. Great for the larger maps.

Cheers!

Well I have spent a ton of crystals on hulls, turrets, and protections, and a ton of crystals MUing them. And then some jerk a half a mile away (all the way across the other side of the map) that I don't even see kills me. Come face me like a man and kill me where I have the opportunity to shoot at you while you are shooting at me. I don't even play the very large maps because all they are is sniper paradise. I would like to know who is killing me and have a chance to return fire. Now if a sniper wants to come in and fight and put himself at risk, fine. But otherwise I am at risk of being killed and you are sitting a mile away with an isida tied to your butt. I just don't like that or think it is fair.

Shaft was nerfed allot, now deal with it.

Erm, the laser sight for Shaft has been out for nearly 2 years now, so you really need to get your eyes checked, like, really.

Also, I play more Poly DMs with my Shaft than in any other game mode so I am just as close to death as my target is. I chose not to accustom myself with camping as many people believe.

Shaft is a quick killing monstrous turret with superb firepower, I am a pro shaft user and I get usually 16-45 kills each match (I think it's good for my rank) I have m1 shaft and m1 mammy,I usually go to stadium Monte Carlo or highways, shaft is good for ctf, because you can kill flag capturing enemy's who are usually wasp or hornet with a single shot, and you can also just look at the enemy flag, when some guy comes with our flag,BAM! He loses the flag,He rages and one even reported me for "sabotaging and using a noob troll weapon" I usually don't keep my gun pointed to right/left the whole time, because when I take cover the barrel of the gun goes through the wall and reveals my position,i mu shaft always when I can and when I reach the rank that I can buy the next modification I save crystals without muing always,I usually go with white paint for battles with snow and green for battles with grass and no snow,I love just sitting and waiting and eating some tasty juicy poor little hornets and wasp for my lunch and breakfast, I don't play tanki at evening so no dinner, a mistake some people do is not take cover after firing,THATS a very bad mistake,I usually find a place with a wall/cover and vegetation BOTH, I hide my laser beam when I'm in scope mode by looking at the wall with about half the screen NOT on the wall and when a tank comes i put my scope fully on the enemy tank instead of half of it on the wall I'm taking cover in to reaveal the laser beam and FIRE LIKE THERES NO TOMMOROW!

Nice no supplies battle.. tons of Firebirds with alterations though. Thank goodness for the 25 protection.

-Pic-

Not surprised. What I am surprised however, is why people use Firebird...on STADIUM.

As much as I was surprised, it seems to work well in DM. Stadium's spawn points seems to be divided into four quadrants on the map (on the sides) and as soon as you spawn, there's bound to be an enemy within just a few feet of you. However, for a Shafter that isn't good, so I just retreated to the spot in the picture as much as I could, or if not I'd find a corner and hope for the best.
