Some research has shown that Shaft actually does the same impact force as Railgun. So Railgun doesn't even have that advantage.

Well you are right. Wiki has those number all right. But here's the thing, I've never felt more than a gentle caress from a shaft in terms of impact. You hear whuum, you see a circle of light, and you go on driving. If you live

Rail, as testified, has flipped titans over. If it lives.

So I will believe game perfomance over numbers in Wiki. You do have me wondering about Wiki though.

Yes it will, I use Smoky. Smoky is a typical knockback gun; the alteration is fantastic in deflecting enemies chasing you or making them shoot the sky.

I agree that the knockback is very powerful on weapons like Smoky. However, you have to consider that Railgun only punches once and then you have 5 seconds or so to recover from that, while with weapons like Smoky you've barely recovered before they knock your aim again.

Although i must say the knockback has saved me against quite a few Shafts and Railguns  :P. Also sometimes Striker. But besides that it doesn't really help since most other weapons don't have to suffer a long reload if I make them miss.

I looked at the in-game stats table. It indeed shows the impact force as much lower than that of Railgun. However the wiki says that refers to the impact force in arcade mode, not the impact force in sniping mode.

Perhaps we just don't see it because the effect of taking 1,000,000,000,000 damage sort of renders the impact force moot. :)

Unfortunately the laser itself does not move faster if you use mouse controls; for the long range it's oustanding and the aim is absolutely fantastic, but I believe arcade shots are neccesary to make Shaft capable of defending itself rather than being a sitting duck waiting for the yellow bar to fill up.

Shaft is never a sitting duck, you can arcade whenever you have enough energy. After sniping, you only have to wait for the duration of an arcade reload to shoot again which is more than fair.

EDIT: Misunderstood your reply, but still I think it's ridiculous that now both sniping and arcade have insane dps.

Not sure why people think Shaft was nerfed...

Anyways. Shaft is pretty good with Wasp or Hornet, and imo this update favours the mobile snipers more. Oh, and it's arguably the best combo for Juggernaut :P

@Diesel :lol:

Just it favours more just mammy+shaft snipers, who only go in scope mode. It really was bad to mobile shaft like me, who used to kill people coming towards me. Now I just do like 75 damage with shot at just little big further than hammer range

needs a buff

Agree, It was pretty versatile until nerf and supported many styles. Now it supports scope and shoot

Lol I need to get a little used to this new weak damage. I was shooting people at 50 damage per shot.

Same, This is really annoying

So what would you suggest? Make one kill in sniper mode and wait out to be killed by Freezes, Twins and whatnot? Nah man Shaft would be crippled and quite boring to play between all these hulls on nitro.

I see myself using arcade shots a lot. Most of the hulls are so fast, they reach you before you can get back into scope mode.

I think the arcade shots are fine the way they are now, useless at long range but very capable at short and somewhat- medium. I am not going into scope mode for these enemies, no way I can keep up my aim.

Arcade shots were for me to finish off targets or kill enemies, while waiting for scope, who came to me.

Nowadays I just can't go further with shaft than defence anymore. Before nerf I was with hornet+shaft, wherever I was needed. Supporting attackers, mid-fielding, defending or even capping flags. Now I just can't mid-field, because my mid-range damage is 50-75.

What if they took away Shaft's arcade shots, BUT.....

They also took away the laser in scope mode? So the only way to fire Shaft is in scope mode.

Hello darkness my old friend. I have come to you once again.

they made arcade shots more powerful at close range but weaker at far range...

so they're actually favouring people who attack with it and not people who camp

Congratz Tanki Developers!

After 5th or 6th nerf, you finally managed to kill Shaft.

Had about 15 games today, DM, TDM, CTF - finished first maybe few times - full battery and drugs. 1000+ hours with shaft, so I do think I do have enough skills to compete, yet not possible anymore as shafts damage output is absolutely sad.

Arcade shot boost alteration is useless also.

I do not understand, why this nerf had to be done? You barely see any shafts in games and now, even lesser. There still are those titan/mammoth shafts sitting in corner and waiting. But for people who play mobile, this turret is useless(unless you go close range against freeze or isida!). Nerf would make sense for rico or twins. As these are  which dominate battlefield - most users barely turn their turrets.

Shaft is hella OP right now... I usually get twice my second place's score with it.

They pushed Shaft back to the long range maps though, the nerf means I face more protection paints against me. Back before the nerf I used to move around a lot and finish off targets with arcade shots.

If I want to do that now, I basically have a stock Thunder M3 without splash damage. The damage is still the same but you need to get closer and this is where I feel the limit of arcade shots; it is really a secondary attack.

The nerf does more than just cut down damage at longer range. The heavy capacitor alt is much much better now aswell.

So now it is rly worth buying this alt?

I've bought the M1 alt in the test server, the upgrades are negligible. Didn't bother trying the other alt out, scoped shots are fine as they are (IMO)

ugly overpowered turret that can 1 shot everything and gives no time to react cuz it hides the laser. You respawn? go around and get killed again cuz you will never get near a shaft, and if you do, you get killed in 2 shots with the fast mode. op needs a nerf

Dude, I am a Shaft user, almost exclusively. I will camp or play agressively (mostly), depending of the map, objective and tactical situation. Knowing the limitations and advantage of the turret (any turrets, and the Hulls you/your opponents use) is the key to win at this game.

Now, I face my fair share of Shaft user and I'm telling you that there are ways to deal with or avoid them ,as I have plenty of adversaries that deal with or avoid me.

Key is practice and learn to deal with these situations.

Now, Shaft can dominate on some long range maps, and are also very ineficient on others, that is for you to find out and learn to use at your advantage. I realise being one shotted can be frustrating, especially at low rank and with little game experience and protection modules, but believe me when I say that I still get one shotted by Shafts or Rails or Magnums, learn and adapt.

I'm definately gonna m4 mine the moment i hit marshal

right now i keep getting sent to legend battles so i have to use heavy capacitors to kill medium hulls.. if i get it m4 then i won't need the alteration

Purchased Shaft yesterday during the sale - Is it worth maxing shaft out to 20/20 and buying the alterations? I mean I have it as 5/20 at the moment and the damage it deals with DD is around 5400, getting decent kills with it too.
