No Shaft sitting in one place (not moving at all) will get a good score, Magnum is more unbalanced than Shaft it can hide and do multi kills from any place to anywhere.

 

Shaft is balanced right now not under powered like railgun or over powered like Magnum

They may not get a good score, but they will definitely have the best K/D in the match by far and will have caused huge trouble for players using light and medium hulls. They usually do move actually, but very minimal movement and nothing like using other turrets.

 

The only thing that makes Magnum less frustrating than Shaft for me is the fact that it can miss shots or land them near you with only half damage, but Shaft rarely misses.

Haven't you heard of laser feature? 

 

If Shaft is at one spot everyone can see the laser and avoid the shaft, shaft can easily be killed by all short range turrets and with medium it can't keep its aim, railgun and magnm can hide behind cover and shoot it.

Definitely, shaft can be killed with skills from anyone.

 

But every battle involving them means I have to be one-shot at least 3 times before managing to kill them.

Most decent Shaft players hide the laser while waiting for targets.  You will not notice the laser until the split-second before you are hit.

 

If you see the laser well before the shot that is a noobish shafter.

True enough, though I sometimes let my laser show just for the scare factor and cut off paths. Apparent laser doesn't necessarily a noob make.

Well in this example we are talking about a shaft which just stays in one spot sniping people, its easy to kill such a shaft with any weapon.

I suggest getting protection from shaft then, if they annoy you enough. medium hull won't be 1 shot with normal protection because shaft needs full scope and same  MU to one shot kill a medium hull at m3 unless they have heavy alt.

The Shaft staying in one spot isn't to be taken literally since that is rarely the case, like I said before they do move but very minimally.

 

I do have 20% on shaft, but even with that it has an alteration which gives it +25-30% damage and that is insane.

I could upgrade it further, but just the idea of replacing a more important module like Fire/Freeze/Hammer/etc.. with that in a battle doesn't encourage me to MU it.

Well shaft is an annoying turret to deal with, so is freeze and some other turrets with alterations but any more nerfs to shaft will make it underpowered so you just have to deal with it, I don't like it when freeze kills me without me having a chance to retaliate either.

Also means you need to be more static and make you more vulnerable as the damage meter also needs more time to power up. Like it has been said earlier, a static Shaft is an easily dealt with Shaft. True. I'm not asking for it to be nerfed however, and I don't believe it needs a buff either.

True again, if I had an M3 Shaft though I wouldn't mind the extra restrictions on movement caused by the alteration, since it's damage output could kill nearly anything in the game, but I would still avoid using it cause it's not my playing style.

 

 

 

Overall I guess my rant has been met with convincing arguments, I fully agree with you guys! And if any of you are shaft users I didn't mean any insults so hope you understand.

Shafts with heavy capacitors will go down in flames by shaft with light capacitors on highway. M.b. on Polygon CP its useful, but I dont play it.

I prefer hitting and moving and not taking forever to get a solid charge...the extra time vs extra damage is a trade off I don't personally like. You may prefer being more static (i.e., camping), but I prefer movement, hitting quick, closing and finishing. Just a style preference.

Of course it's better if u can do it. But how u can do it, while shaft with heavy capacitors after 2,5 seconds in the sniper mode make about 1220 damage, but shaft with light capacitors - 2100? Also it has horizontal aiming speed advantage.

That's a nice way to play with Shaft, I like that light capacitors takes 30% of max damage but makes energy consumption in aiming mode 60% faster but in Heavy capacitors it adds 30% of damage energy consumption in aiming mode is 50%

 

I would add something like 20% more impact to heavy capacitors to make it feel like it is a heavier shot than standard shaft

 

EDIT: Anyone here has Short-band emitter or Rapid-fire mode? how are those alts?

that's really impressive, that was how i used to play... although nowadays i can't really play DM because of all the trooper drones :( i don't have any drones but i don't think that getting one myself would help because shaft needs double damage to quickly one-shot enemies, and when enemies have trooper drones they'll always have double armour

maybe booster drone might counter it but... I'd have to spend over a million crystals to make it enough still deal double damage on someone with double armour... and it only lasts for 5 seconds

I've almost about had it.  Three days in a row.  M4 Hornet, M4 Shaft, 3 protection modules (one m4, one 3.75, one 3.25), and I'm getting toasted right out the gate, constantly.  My saving grace was that I had an m4 Shaft, those deal plenty of damage alone.  If I can play with that, I might not be top tier, but middle tier.  Now, everyone I guess ran out and bought drones on Black Friday or something.  3/12, 1/14, these are the K/Ds I'm sporting suddenly.  Oh, and the alterations, Smokey sniping on far with that automatic cannon thing, or the ice freezy rounds.  And then Shafts could engage Vulcans, sure, you had to time the push of their rounds against you, but they'd get hot and then they'd get popped.  NOOO, now they set YOU on fire, no time to adjust to finally take the shot.  Okay, all said, FINALLY find a place to camp, laser beam up, and got players with that BS fix mortal damage drone.  Full charge them after watching them get hit by a rail, they in a HORNET, but nope, not killing them, they don't die, no sir.  Playing pop the peek a boo with a wasp rail, yeah, no, they have that stupid drone that lets them recharge almost instantly after killing or hitting.  They're round goes through me, kills some slob behind me, I hit with arcade, so I can pin them with a quick recharge, but can't.  No no no.  See, they can immediately pop back out and drill me again with DD, and btw, never mind me, I'm dead, so my next team mate is one the chopping block because guess who's at full charge again?

Asinine.

 

One thing is to have drug enhancing drones (which still suck big donkey you know what), but now we have magic faerie god drones that will instantly transform your performance and stats if you do certain things.  There is no rhyme or technical reason to these drone, they just reward you with unrealistic potential if you are playing more, like a spiritual link to Valhalla or something.  Berserk drone, serious?

 

Shafts have low rates of fire and poor defense given it's operational nature.  Now add in that an opposing force gets STRONGER, not WEAKER, as it assaults your base successfully (the opposite of what it should be), and the ace in the hole shaft is left basically useless.  And I know, again and again, I don't drug, but even drugging shafts with drones, while they still enjoy higher K to D rates, have less kills than before.

Oh, and did I mention that all this enhanced Harry Potter Tanki action jacks up the OD build, so everyone now has OD on because they round robin and they are taking in kills faster than they can all run out of OD, WITH their little gargoyles floating over their little numb skulls.  It's atrocious, and it's going to be the ruin of this game if they keep this up.  It has ceased to resemble anything like armored combat and more like sort work of Magic the Ascension steam punk affair.  "We shall take this incredible armor, and, if you show yourself worthy enough to your drone familiar, it will channel fighting powers, to your tank!  Onwards knights of the realm."

 

Some one just make it stop already, stop the bleeding.
