RIP those turret.

Imma just grab Shaft protection when using Shaft-Hornet setup and have a battle that is fair to Firebird, Isida and Hammer, but not to me lol.

My 3 default Protections right now are Firebird/Hammer/Thunder. I will switch those if MM puts me in Highway but otherwise I will switch Thunder for the most other prominent/most annoying Turret in play. It's very rare that I drop the Fire Protection, given the burning effects also coming from Vulcan, Smoky and, less often seen, Hammer Alterations.

Because it shows that you're too scared to go into the heat of the battle, but just pick people off with a broken alteration so you can rack up kills. The fun factor in that is completely lost for me.

But then that would make striker, shaft, railgun, smoky, magnum, Vulcan all cowards.

Besides, different turrets have different strategies. All the mentioned turrets and thunder would die too quickly in close range combat.

So instead of being a butt hurt piece of crap, go get yourself some more skills before talking trash ;)

Or even upgrade that grizzly module of yours by quite a bit.

OK, I may have been a little too ambitious. My point is, Thunder is one of the turrets in the game right now which needs almost zero skill to master.

And I do have skills. My K/D has been improving from 0.59 steadily because i average a 3.00 K/D in MM. Ask anyone, they will say that I am a master with Shaft.

And I will upgrade my Grizzly, thanks for the tip.

Head is hurting because of how much I keep screaming at Uranium users in JGR. Good night.

Thunder doesn't even come close to firebird when it comes to lack of skill. Firebird can easily dominate with no skill killing anything in its path. Thunder goes from extremely effective to just decent when the battle has players with 25% protection against it.

Firebird however will easily kill you no matter how high your fire protection is. Without any fire protections, you're just easy prey. With even 50% protections, it's just prolongs the inevitable.

The only way to truly beat a firebird without dying by after burn is to deal as much damage to it before it turns to you.

Thanks for reading my mind, judging my motives, and defining my playing strategy all without any knowledge of me:) (and on a side note, it is very hard at higher levels to rack up kills with the thunder...way too many protections).  But seriously, I use almost every turret, but enjoy the dynamism of the midrange game (whether rico, thunder, smoky, vulcan or even shaft). I enjoy breaking down a defense for my team to grab a flag or point. I enjoy hunting down the flag carrier and returning the flag to base. In general, I do not avoid contact, nor do I "pick off" people with thunder. I normally would tell you that would be shaft players (of which I am one, but I don't camp and try not to spawn kill). The cowards in my book are typically the melee turrets roaming around spawn points in a game that is way mismatched and long since over...pointless to even participate in a game like that.

Regardless, the only time my K/D has dramatically gone up was during my camping phase with the shaft. I didn't enjoy playing that way as it seemed cowardly and less involved in general. So I switched it up and haven't looked back.

IMO, Firebird requires more skill than Thunder because even if you have Compact Fuel Tanks, you need to be able to predict how much energy it'll take you to kill someone, including if they'll use Repair Kit.

Actually, what you said there was an accurate description of me. On the battlefield, I always try to anticipate what people will do by judging their motives and predicting their strategy, because honestly, 90% of the people in TO just go along with the same stupid strategy: go for golds, when their real goal should be to PLAY THE DAMN OBJECTIVE. This is what I get pissed off most by.

The only cowards with Shaft are the ones who sit back and pick off people from afar. It takes concentration and determination to go into the heat of the battle, and to take flags, capture flags, points, and rugby balls.

There was one time I was in Serphnov ASL. For me I was in red team and I stormed into blue's base. I did not use any alt at all.

While in the base, I earnt 4 killstreaks with my usual setup until another Shaft ended my life (even when I have 25% Shaft protection). AND THOSE KILLSTREAKS WERE ARCADE SHOTS AND SNIPER SHOT WITH DD!

NOBODY had Shaft protection that time except myself.

Me: Use Hornet and do an arcade trickshot. Spams it...

Other Shafts: WTH THAT SHAFT-HORNET IS DRUGGING (full drug up)! AND HE GOT 25% OF SHAFT PROTECTION!! AHHH!!!

Me: Low in HP, pop a repair kit and keep spamming. And....Overdrive up!

A minute later....I got sniped. LOL.

Wait what? A 25% protection on Hornet is enough for you to survive a Shaft shot at low ranks? I can still 1 shot light hull with 30%.

My Shaft and Eagle module are both M1 10/10. While Hornet is M2 0/10.

1471/0.75= 1961.33

That mean I have 1,961.33 HP against a Shaft. While I have normal 1,471 HP against other turrets.

"A 25% of protection on Hornet is enough for me to survive a Shaft shot at low ranks?"

Twenty-five percent of Shaft protection allow to make a difference on M1 10/10 Shaft's acrade shot (no DD factored in). However that does not make a difference when a fully charged sniper shot can bypass that protection it gives me.

M4 Hornet/Wasp with 50% Shaft defence allow me survive from M4 fully charged sniper shot (no Heavy Capacitor/DD) while me sniping others.

That makes a difference....with 500 HP left.

Math proof:

2,000-(3000*0.5)=500 HP left

Or if you are using Heavy Capacitor...

2000-(3000*0.5*1.3)=50 HP left.....50 HP LEFT! AN ARCADE SHOT CAN FINISH HIM/HER OFF EVEN IN LONG DISTANCE!

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

"I can still 1 shot light with 30%"

Is your Shaft M4?

I wish I was facing the kind of firebird that you're describing, because if I was, then I wouldn't even have to complain how ridiculously OP it is. But nope, the only firebird I see nowadays are the ones that Chase me all over the map until I die even though there are more viable targets nearby.

At least with thunder you need to be aware of your surroundings, firebird can just point the turret near you and you'd still be losing health.

A great reason why I don't use Fox. Not worth it unless I use Vulcan or Firebird myself. Oh wait, any foreign turret protections.

Just let that Firebird roast my tank to bits.... End my suffering earlier.

Bought assault emitters and heavy caliber

tried assault in one battle and its really good would recommend, the reload isn't long at all and you can kill a viking m4 in 2 shots with double armor (my shaft is not m4)

EDIT: tried heavy alt in highways and it is slow to load and you can be shot by other shafts when you are waiting to fire I think light would be better - would be great is assault and heavy could be combined together

This is not true. I just tried this and my Shaft is M4.

My mistake, I meant you can kill viking m4  with 2 shots when you use double power

Hm.... let's do comparisons (all of them equips with Shaft):

Wasp vs Hornet

Viking vs Hunter vs Dictator

Titan vs Mammoth.

OK.

Wasp is stable and fast. It is powerful on maps like Massacre if you've got the proper camo, as you can be mobile and hidden.

Hornet is beautiful for trickshots because of its fast turning speed and drift potential.

Viking for me is too low to use with Shaft. Plus its weight is low enough to get your aim screwed up with a single shot with a possibility of flipping.

Dictator is the opposite: too high. Plus, it's weight makes it slow in turning.

So that's why Hunter is the best. It is the middle, and that is what you need if you want to succeed.

Titan is great if you are doing some heavy assault. It's mediocre speed and great health make for a very formidable combination.

Mammoth is the camper's choice. The slowest yet the strongest. Absolute beast on defence.

I agree with most all of this except not sure mammy is any stronger than titan. I would say it has a more ideal turret placement for peek-a-boo sniping techniques most campers employ. Other than that, give me the titan all day long.

I'd pick Titan, it's a good combination of health and speed

If I had to pick another hull for shaft I would pick Hunter because of it's stabilty

The garage description suits Titan really well,
