Well, I've been going through what all that's written in here.  I am relatively new to the world of Tankionline to begin with.  According to me, the shaft, the railgun, the thunder are the three most potent weapons of all.  They can be extremely deadly and if in the right hands can actually change the face of any battle.  But for a shaft to be the most effective gun in your team you need any one of these

1. Either isida support (to keep repairing you between reloads)

2. Another shaft nearby

3. Another railgun nearby

Eversince I started using one I have found more crystals at the end of every battle than I had with even a railgun. Mate your shaft to a stable hull(I use a dictator) and am also keenly looking at the Titan and you can actually deal great damage to the opponents.  Since you have to mate it to a heavy hull means you cannot go in to capture flags or points, but yes, a fully upgraded Shaft together with a stable fortified hull can be a real challenge to take out and can prove to be an extremely able defender of the base.  Add to that the ability to hit far with accuracy, well that takes the cake actually.  Shaft users are generally more vulnerable to weapons with more rate of fire but even they are forced to come in at close ranges to be effective.

A shaft duo would be really cool in a team, as long as they coordinate together.

Being a Hornet user, it doesn't matter if you have a stable hull or not. The fact that you have to adapt matters. I use Hornet because it helps me get out of bad situations on time. Only lag, bad timing(which is mostly due to lag) and being sloppy gets me taken out, but otherwise Hornets speed and a worthy Shaft paint like Dirty or Winter have protected me from a lot of hard hits. Thanks to the Winter paint, my M2 Hornet is a somewhat near equivalent to an M2 Hunter.

Light hulls are weak, but fast. Medium and heavy tanks are strong, but slower. Looking at and exploiting the positives of the hull you use is what keeps you alive.

I'm not one for heavier hulls because I don't restrict myself to defense. I only attack if the base is safe to leave, otherwise I hang back as a final stand for defense.

Just yesterday, I was in a 30 min CTF battle in the Rio map, when suddenly I found my self outnumbered around midway.  There was a stage when I was alone for about 10 odd mins against 7-8 tanks.  But, by then my killed vs destroyed figures were already about 35-7 when they all started massacring me.  Even at that stage, I destroyed 1 against being destroyed twice or may be thrice, but kept on fighting.  Suddenly with about 10 mins to go, some players joined my team and we were at par with the opponents, and it was payback time then!! When a shaft is on fire, it's really hard to fight back.  I've mated mine to a Dictator M0(soon to be upgraged to M1) and my M1 Shaft is also microupgraded to 50% already on nearly all parameters.  When I found that both the teams were on par in terms of the number of players I literally gave it to my opponents

It's good that you kept the game going. I would've given up if the score seemed beyond salvaging and if my team disappeared.

I feel that with the recent Shaft update that increases damage in arcade mode, the turret has a lot more flexibility at close range. It's easier now to face off with quick firing turrets like Smoky and Rico and also has helped me countless times against point blank encounters with Railguns, as long as my movements are timed well enough to evade a second hit. It just takes around 3 hits max to finish off a Hornet.

I have to say, it's fun fooling Railgunners in such "personal" situations. Those are my second favourite moments. First favourite is dealing with enemy Shafts:D

Problem is that railgunners show themselves all of the community!!

This update is beneficial for everyone, except XP/BP format.

Like they reduced the impact force of smoky due to format battles(also they reduced my smoky which has never been used in any format), they will remove I think. :(

I totally agree with you on the point pertaining to railgunners.  They are first on my priority list of targets, followed by enemy shafts of course.  One round of the shaft can easily take out a hornet, wasp, viking et al.  The Titans and mammoths require two.

As always , I just want to know when they think the spinning and look up and down will be fixed. Just a statement from Tanki with some time frame for fix. Does not seem like  much to ask.

Yeah, so far, except for 1 or 2 occassions every time my turret has looked up or down automatically I've been quick enough to realise it. It's not right that this bug hasn't been eliminated till now. I've expected better from Tanki.

Probably the reason why things seem so quiet may be because they're working on several things at a time before releasing a new V-log?

Every computer shows different reactions about this bug.

They probably think they have already solved this!! :P

Though some shaft players are very good, others are giving shaft a bad reputation. When I am using wasp and a gold is falling (mostly in stadium), a shaft always kills me. This is why I make it my buisness to take out all shafts when I see that notification. I have been stereotyping shafts as bad players, but when I see a really good shaft I give them credit.

Killing a person that is about to take the gold is intentional for shafters and somewhat takes skills.

Its fun having shaft and activating DP and killing everyone under gold

sometimes doesnt work with normal non-MU shafts but this is good enough :D

Actually, with full of kill steaks!  :D  :D

Steaks? Do you mean kill streaks?

Yeah, some of them are there who will shoot at me because they find me a bug because I frustrate shafters on the other end. Those guys are the noobs, but for a Shafter who eliminates other gold takers, that may be called skill, but its also very frustrating.

To be honest, I don't recall ever shooting anyone for the gold, even if it's a rival. Others do when the gold gets closer to the ground, while I focus on getting on top. I just keep my fingers off the space bar:P

The problem is that gold boxes often falls to places which a shafter can't take, which makes shafters angry and they kill everyone without any idea.  :(

Fortunately, wtih the predictable drop zones, golds has started to fall to places which a shafter can take.  ^_^

So after  few weeks of not saying much and just playing (not nearly as much lately though, just no time), thoughts.

First, relod adjustment on shaft is killing us as shafters.  D/L is really dropped, and our ability to really impact defense has been extremely diminished, and maybe it's just my perceptions, but it seems like the arcade shot has also taken a larger toll on the overall charge bar now, thus snipe and arcade shot are further and farther between now.   I will say that the increased arcade damage CAN be useful, if your opponent isn't some 'roided out Christmas tree, which seems to be less and less the case.

New camera is okay, I haven't seen much change in my game play per say, no complaints there.  There is one thing though, the new camera view seems to take more frames per second, and I don't always have the best fps, so it can get choppy sometimes, dunno, it seems like it, that since the elease of the update my game gets a hit once in a while.

Rico's increased range is ridiculous and they sweep for Shafts all the time now, you see it everywhere now, ricos on hunters, drving around, spawn camping and shaft killing, and at ranges that are simply too much for that turret.

I can still pull off 4 or 5th, but 1 through 3 is very rare now, in terms of match rank.  Earnings are really dropping and it's hard to keep up.

Drugs, as always, are a death kneel to this game.  Ruins everything, but that's a dead horse already.

STUPID bug is still happening, needs fixing.

In other news, DDSwift is a Sab and piece of ****.  Chomchim too btw.

That is all, as you were.

Good explained. (By the way I passed my last English exam, now I can be considered as a person knowing English, so I can even understand you!  :D  ^_^  :) )

When I started to play, these ricochets were a lot more deadly than now, so I don't think that they are really that big problem.

Yes; as you said, reload and "consumption" has been changed, you can check the WIKI and understand what I mean. :)

I have a theory about bug. Every computer reacts different to this bug, so every player face this on different "levels".

I think, developers think that they have solved this problem because there is no bug on their computer when they are playing.

Don't worry, shaft gets power with ranks.  ;)  It is UP at low ranks, especially on your rank.

I am making a guide! I hope this will help you a lot!  :)

Good bye...

+1 for the passing English exam part

Today I was playing a one sided battle at Serpuhov. The previous two matches were also won by my side. I got bored because we were winning and the game felt so dull(and some teammates were drugging heavily despite knowing they will win, which was sort of disgusting).

So I decided to just blindly run into the enemy base from the middle for some random reason and I run into a Shaft with a Viking hull, and I decide to play around. This guy is truly an example of nooby shafters making a joke out of us! I went round him and took my arcade shots at him while I could, but this nutcase only turns his hull to try and get me, but not his turret. Forget that, he doesn't even consider maneuvering about till I completely go around him. Only after I took a whole round he realised he had to move his tank somehow. Shocking that at his rank, he still has not learnt to turn his damn turret!

He never got a chance at me because of his reliance on only his hull for turning around. Was real funny teasing him, but a double powered Isida saved him from me in the end. If not for that Isida, I would have played around till he was finished.

Hilarious end to my day!:D

I want your shaft footage!

No, I'm not making a naugthy movie, I want video from shaft players, game play, trying my hand a ta montage.  It's a bear on my little machine to do, almost impossible.  Gave up for now, but I figured if people could send stuff, that would be enough to put something together.

If there are any takers please let me know.

Actually, I am making a kind of article, not a video guide. :)

I don't know abotu making video, so I preferred this way.

Also this won't be just a guide, I hope this pull more shafters to exchange tactics, strategies and solutions :)

Instead of this spoiled and disturbed "Let's discuss how noob or pro is shaft"(here!), we should make a clear area to discuss tactics and gameplay. :)
