i bought a m3 shaft in the sale

i have always loved using shaft but more recently i have been using my m4 thunder

its been nice getting back to using shaft again although i was a bit rusty for a while getting used to it again

wow what a difference an m3 shaft is with a few micro upgrades on its power

it is a total beast of a weapon (and saving myself a few double power supplys as well)

not had a chance to try it on double power yet

im sure it will be awesome then

M1 Shaft in an M0 Game can hold back 5 enemies from capping, and can go on the OFFENSIVE. In an M1-M2 game, you will be reduced to your support role. But you can get the most kills on your team easily with a good spot.

Don't argue. I have over 2 years of Shaft Experience (even if I'm only WO2) and 2000+ kills with it.

B) I'm coming for your Booty B)

I really wanted to argue this, but ultimately, I agree.

Shafts shine best in support roles.  Holding down the defense or clearing a path for the team offense is the best jobs for shafts.  That said, I have taken lately to being a touch more proactive with my shaft during game play due to missions.  HAVING to get the flag, having to play DMs, having to play on certain maps.  Now, either you play on very small teams or you havea  great team period, but medium sized battles are death for active map objective games, you're just dead meat.  I finally broke down and bought a Thunder JUST to play on polygon because shaft play is okay (I'm good enough), but it was very slow going trying to complete those missions, so I just gave up on it.  For the record, Thunder is okay, but it was clear to me that my decision to remain all shaft, all the time, was a good one, for any REAL game play, not mission accomplishment, and the support role still gets me second and third place, though since the last few sets of changes to shafts, that's harder to come by, I'm sporting about half and half 2nd/3rd, or 4th-6th in most games (drug battles don't count, I don't drug).

The support role should have some sort of additional value placed upon in game play.  I know, if I recall right, shooting and killing an enemy with the flag is worth more than just killing an enemy, but other than that, and I really don't know what one would have to do to quantify it, support roles just don't get as much money.  Now, if you're a good shafters, the sheer kill count is enough to raise you up in game matches to the top 3, like I said, but still, not flag captures means that the top two get the lions share still, by a long shot.  As an aside for support role shafts, try escorting flag carriers in to the base.  If they die, you can grab the flag and nab a capture, that helps get you into 2nd and even first sometimes, if it's a low scoring game.

Anyways, good advicei n the end, but don't discount the shaft too much, as long as you know what you're doing, you can do more than just pop baddies from a distance (though lets face it, that's why we love it, and it's always a pleasure to see that desperate turn and zig zag as we line up a shot, knowing they are desperately trying to not be killed by us for the 5th time in a row from across the map).

Did shaft get nerfed because noobs kept crying, or is it just the devs and their stupid updates?

It never was "nerfed" so to speak, it was simply edited to the level of everything else. It's still my weapon of choice, due to the fact that it works incredibly well, even when faced with M2s.

And if you were wondering, I've been using shaft almost my entire career as a tanker.

Never nerfed? The laser almost defeats the purpose of being a sniper. Not only that, the recoil isn't as strong as it used to be. So I'm assuming you have been using shaft for just that account, no higher alternative account. Shaft is actually very popular for M0 - M1 players, don't know about m2, but at m3 it feels like it's dead. Now it has become even worse all because of this stupid laser.

The laser lots of players ignore or try to avoid but "fail"

First, I would never say that it is actually popular for M0 and M1, because I am one of the very few who will use it for every single kind of map, including ones such as Polygon, and yet I still receive a very noteable sum of crystals at the end of most every match. Just this morning, in one hour I accumulated 1000 more crystals. And second, the laser eliminated a very distinced advantage, (I know this because I was using Shaft when there was no laser) and now the gun is more balanced because of it. But, as we all knew, with it's arcade damage it was indeed nerfed; however, once they increased that, the turret has been very formidable, even against M2 combos, as I have come to find.

My thoughts exactly

I usually play in Monte Carlo ctf as a shaft and I use a wasp. I stay between the flag and the ramp and snipe from there. Whenever an enemy jumps the ramp I push them down and whenever I spot someone going for behind I quickly go down and snipe them. This is how a pro sniper should act. Most of the snipers in maps like Brest are really selfish and useless

How are they selfish?

I think omrot means that a lot of Shafts in Brest pick unimportant targets, stay in cover most of the time, and don't contribute that much to their team. This can be an issue in CTFs and CPs if you have too many of them, but it's perfectly fine in TDMs since they can get kills without dying too often.

Ah, OK. Thanks. I noticed in CTF that Shafts fight each other on top while everyone else is playing the actual game below. I guess that's why I see a lot of Shafts in Stadium and Brest.

Yeah, and then you get those not so occasional players who just revel in the chance to push an unsuspecting Shaft user off cliffs... Not that in Brest and Stadium most of them don't deserve it, but still; it gets annoying sometimes.

Its a shame no one cares about this turret anymore, we would still have loads of shaft users if tanki hadn't bullsh*tted it with that laser, whether it was weak or powerful, the laser defeats the true purpose of the weapon which is why many have given up on it, i can't remember the last time seeing one, but you know, ignorance is ignorance
