What module do you use for DMs? And do you frequently mine the place before adding DD ?

I choose module according to other tanks turret choices. My most used is eternity legacy one, which is 50 isida, 50 smokey, 50 thunder. Africa legacy one is top notch aswell on DM's because oh hammer vulcan twins thunder protection. But end of day, I always change paints when in battle.

What are your thoughts on the shaft alteration? It is +25% max damage, +100% power up time  (takes 6 seconds to reach full charge instead of 3), and -30% horizontal turning speed in sniping mode.

I personally think it is a bad offer. I play mostly DM in small/medium arenas (like polygon), and can´t afford losing more versatility and operating speed.

But if u play more teambattles in large maps, then this alteration may be useful.

i bought new accelerator and must tell that i have nice playing with +25% but i think +100% power time up is too big :( 50% will be more justice.

I also bought the alteration. I can tell you that I have trouble going up to full charge on enemies because they move out of my scope before I get a chance to shoot them with the required amount of charge.

Lately, I have noticed that shaft turret lags in a quite strange way. First of all, in some cases the turret spins without the user pressing anything and you have to press the right or left button following the spin. The button depends on the spin (i.e. if it lags clockwisely, you have to press right button for a moment and then to press any other button you need to aim). Similarly, it lags upwards (just after stop running to aim, by pressing space bar you go to target mode but the turret goes to the sky). In this case you have to press the upper button for a while (i.e. to follow the move of the turret) and then any other button to control the shot. Loosing fatal time in this way, I have been killed many times the last few days. Has anybody else noticed it?

Shaft isn't the only turret with this problem.

That alteration pretty much makes already not a very strong weapon too hard to use.

You don't see it often but when I do, it pwn and you can't go through its scope. Its still a powerful weapon andand I am planning to use it as soon as I get it m2.

yes you are right but in close combat you are doomed

What is it about this alteration that cannot be done with DD?

The point is that you don't need double damage to one-shot medium hulls with the alteration. It's impossible to stay on DD 24/7 and you lose your one-shot kill ability against medium hulls if your target uses DA. The alteration makes it so that you can destroy unprotected medium hulls as long as you're on equal ground drug-wise, which is a powerful advantage indeed.

 


 

On an unrelated note, here's a nice game I had with my M3 Shaft recently. It's a vanilla version with ~13 micro upgrades, and it hits like a truck.

Man, I so regret I didn't get my shaft before I was gen already. Was playing with rail and thunder back then. M3 shaft at that low rank must be so good. Probably can be first in any map and any game mode. Nice!

 

And you can actually play minimal drug use in RIO ctf. Ralfsop is one of these guys, barely ever drugs, always top 3 in Rio. http://ratings.tankionline.com/en/user/ralfsop/ he plays moving shaft, captures flags and moves like crazy.

Shaft is NOT underpowered in ANY shape or form. Seriously, it has the HIGHEST damage of all the turrets. The M1 at 23/50 MU can one shot all M0 hulls, and Wasp, Hornet, Viking and Hunter hulls on M1 level. Why did I say 23/50? Well, it's where my Shaft stand on MU's and is still powerful against M2 tanks since it can one shot Wasp and Hornet M2 hulls still. M3 Wasp of course is a one shot. It's a Wasp xD

They are increasing the armor on Wasp I think.  <_<

But they are reducing reload time and increasing changing. :)

 

I think I will like that shaft, I always wanted that type of shaft. :)

I am excited for the new upcoming changes to shaft. I believe that it will be buffed from the balance changes. The time to kill a medium has decreased by 0.5 seconds, but I believe the reload time has increased. The aim speed in sniping mode has also increased.

 

A parameter of shaft that I am confused on are the energy per shot parameters. Does it mean that less of the energy pool is used per shot? Or more?

Less energy - which means faster reload in between shots.
