As I said, heavy capacitors is not suited for combat sniping. Imagine taking TWICE as longer to charge up a shot for only an extra 30% hitting power...

The 30% more hitting power should be enough for a one shot of medium tanks of the same m level tho.

Most of the time, you can't even charge fully before they leave your line of sight. Its how it feels when striker is trying to lock on to an opponent.

I'm a combat sniper so I move around alot with hornet, I was wondering if heavy capacitors could be a good alternative?

Heavy Capacitors is tricky to use, and using it for your playstyle would be suicide. It's horrible for reactive sniping, i.e. zooming in when you see a target. It's designed to give you some extra punch if you tend to hide in your base with a heavy hull and charge up before you see any enemies around. Take Stinger's advice and just ignore it for now- unless you plan on getting a Mammoth soon.

If you don't charge up in advance, the extra power isn't worth it. I'd rather use the arcade + scope shot strategy with a normal Shaft. It certainly feels quicker.

But it completely one shots the medium hull, no time for a repair kit. I was a god with it in parkour format test server.

Heavy Capacitors is great in parkour mode because it can bypass the health kits that everyone spams and you can spam all the repair kits you want while charging up, but in practice you'll probably die and/or your target will run out of your vision before you can fully charge up. You can only catch your targets totally by surprise if they are oblivious to the fact that a Shaft is aiming at them for a good 5 seconds or so or if you charge your shot in advance. If you're not camping, I don't think it's worth it.

Against druggers, I typically shoot an arcade shot first to take out a chip of their health, then fire a fully charged scope shot to destroy them. Almost nobody feels the urge to activate a repair kit if they've only taken a tiny bit of damage. It's still fast and allows me to not stay in the same spot for so long. Yes, it's not an instant kill, but most of the time, I'd rather reliably get a kill and survive rather than sometimes getting a one-shot kill and then the other times getting stomped on.

You, Captain, something tells me about ranks?

12572520.png

Shaft nowhere requires the skills of the game.

Sorry comrades for I am quite stupid (as a shaft user is supposed to be). I did not catch the picture's point. Does it mean that Captain_Raq got the first place in a high rank game, (either)

1)playing with shaft with no skill? (...therefore shaft is an easy turret)

or

2)so got the right to tell the most eligible ascertainment? (...that shaft is an easy turret)

or what else?

I am sad that shaft got nerfed with the new update.

Edit:

I went to the patch notes and saw that it was actually buffed.

I think the Shaft update was a net buff.

Changes for Shaft

  • arcade-shot firing speed increased The arcade shot reload time on my Shaft is now 2.18 seconds. That's actually faster than Thunder. You may be able to beat Thunders at close range now...

  • vertical aiming angles decreased A nerf, but it doesn't seem particularly bad to me.

  • recoil increased slightly A buff. I can now unflip myself when using Hornet, and personally I like the recoil when sniping. It makes it seem more powerful.

  • Zoom increased in sniper mode It might be a bit early to see if this is a buff or not. On one hand, the tunnel vision problem is worse. On the other, it will be easier to hit targets at long range.

Another change I noticed is that arcade shots have had their damage dropoff added back, with the maximum damage being raised to compensate. My Shaft has arcade damage listed as 602-684 instead of the flat 634 it had previously. This means that it will have problems 3-shotting enemies at extreme distances but will be more fearsome up close. The Assault Emitters alteration will come pretty close to 2-shotting a Hornet now, although still not quite enough.

Thank you, that's really interesting. The arcade reload is indeed a buff, because now it has for M3 Shaft a 15 % lower reload time. I just tested shaft ingame and what I get from it, is that Shaft arcade seems to be now a turret with a bell curve damage as well, like Railgun, Thunder, Smoky, etc. This means that it deals a random amount of damage that is between min. and max. damage numbers. So I don't think the dealt damage amount has something to do with the distance of the shot or the charge level. Since they buffed the arcade mode, it seems to better to shoot more often with arcade now than before at enemies in closer distance and with this you maybe won't need a scope for this anymore, so in this sense the increased zoom sounds like a buff to me.

A reason for the shaft changes can be that they want to make room for the M3 alteration. On the other hand they might wanted to make Striker more similar to Shaft.

Huh. I've yet to test the arcade damage myself, but the bell curve makes sense since Shaft doesn't have a range parameter (Railgun doesn't have one either). I didn't think of that, thanks for sharing. :)

Your views on Arcade Emitter Alteration, would it be good for a combat sniper? Any pros and cons?

Only the Arcade emitter and not the Heavy Capacitor.

They took already OP-d weapon and made it even 'better. With arcade alternator hitting 1850s with DD.

Haven't lost single DM in ANY map today.

This would actually get me to Tanki record also, highest award in battle.

Nice. It would only get you a record if you took a screenshot proving it was a 15 minute battle though.

Shaft's original shot colors are back!

Woohoo! M3 is properly reddish now!

I've missed the old colors for a while. The developers rolled back the colors by 1 modification after the laser sight update; I remember my M1 Shaft being slightly orangish before the update and then having its color changed to the flat yellow of M0 Shaft afterwards. M3 Shaft had the orange muzzle flash of the M2 Shaft, so the red color was gone from the game.

I don't think so. An M2 Shaft still shoots like M1, a dark yellow.

I think it's supposed to be like this:

What happened was they darkened the colors a little. If you look, it's kind of between the new and old colors. ;) Or maybe, they only changed M3 Shaft.

And what does it mean ? Who does know what kind of equipment he has bought, and what color protection, how many double damages, double armors and repair kits he used ? And for how long time period played the others players in this game ? And what about their eguipment to compare ?

Shaft It is easy another weapon - it is not much fitted for draging the flag and in the Iran battle  shaft can be hard succesfull.

Everybody is laughing for campers but you can hear it is little bit boring weapon - from yesterday yet crippeld
